Title: Advice on selling a collection?
Post by: Rebeldream on August 02, 2020, 08:37:02 PM
Hello! It’s been about 13 years since I last hung around here and actively collected. My stuff has been in storage for a long time and it occurred to me today that I’ll likely never have everything out and displayed again so why keep it all locked away?

Last I kept track, I had around 500. Mainly G3s but many G1s as well. Play sets, merch, etc. Some G3’s still boxed.

I’ll have to decide if EBay is worth my time and trouble, but do you think it’d be worthwhile to try and locate collectors in my region who might be willing to travel and come take a bunch at once?

Local is always worth a try! Cash is always nice too. You'd be amazed by how many collectors are out there hiding in the wings. Where are you?
At least on here and ebay there's a feedback system if you wanted to sell more HTF items within the community.

Throwing out there that I am looking for some G1 playset boxes...

I’m in Northern Nevada.

And the closest I have to a boxed G1 play set is the rerelease of the stable, lol

Thanks for the reply!

Aside from local, I would consider asking for wishlists from collectors to sell bundles all at once. I think a lot of people are on Facebook groups, too.

You might want to consider selling common ponies with rarer ponies. together as a lot. That way, you won't be left with ponies that might not sell. Where are you located if I may ask?

If you use it, you could try facebook to find anyone who could be local, and try to sell there first. I think there are pony groups.

If you do sell online on ebay.. Bundle lower cost ponies in lots. It might be more attractive to those who customize, or want to start a collection. Sell anything that might be $20+ individually. That's how I usually sell on that platform.

If you are not used to selling online, then I'd suggest getting a scale to accurately set your shipping prices. It really stinks to be off on shipping prices. :/
