Title: Pink Glitterbelle - Discoloring or variant?
Post by: TheBeatlesPkmnFan42 on September 12, 2017, 01:43:18 PM
I got Divine Shine Glitterbelle at the Goodwill today, but she's more of a pink than the purple she's supposed to be.

Here's her next to my Flower Garland, who is supposed to be pink:

I searched for images of Glitterbelle on Google and most are the purple color she's supposed to be, but some seem to be more pink than mine.

Is this a case of her becoming discolored, or is this a variant of her?

The Divine Shines break down easily. They can become sticky and the glitter can dissolve in to them even when they're still in the box. This has happened with my Glitterbelle. My Glitterbelle's head is a different color than her body also. I think the color difference is due to the plastic breaking down. They're such pretty ponies.

My Flower Garland is very sticky from the breakdown! Luckily, Glitterbelle here doesn't feel sticky at all.

I'm glad your Glitterbelle isn't sticky. :)  Here's a pic of mine, still MIB.

Yeah these girls can go any which way, it all depends on how or why they break down. Some retain perfect colour through the break down of the plastic, and they just lose their glitter. One I have has broken down, and her colour is completely wrong, and her head has no glitter, but her body still has some. There's no rhyme or reason to it, you just don't know what's going to happen until it does. It's frustrating, especially for mint collectors. I was so excited for this set, because the sparkle ponies in G1 were my favourite set, but I do tend to avoid these, even in nice condition - it's sad really!

It really is a shame! They're so pretty when they don't go through it! I definitely want the other two, even though I'm sure they'll also be flawed when I get them.

It's sad because they're one of my favorite G3 sets.

I missed most of the G3 ponies when they were new so I was really happy when a friend sent me Flower Garland and Glitter Belle. I was upset when I realized Glitterbelle was breaking down while still in the box.  :(
