Ooh, the writers of ATLA are cooking up something entirely new called The Dragon Prince. Its nice to see that some people give a darn about creating beautiful, thoughtful, rich shows that don't treat kids like fragile idiots.
-
Cool! Can't wait!
-
I loved The Last Airbender, so I am hopeful this will be good!
-
 There are more new cartoons out that don't treat kids like idiots. CN's Summercamp Island just started out and is very whimsical and calm. Much lile a spiritual successor to Adventure Time.
I am looking forward to this even tho it looks a bit boring (the premise, not the art). A show inspired by East Asian animation, philosophies and mythology - just like ATLA and Korra. But merged with Lego Elves, something the studio that animated ATLA and Korra also worked on. Mmmyeah...
I'll see how this goes.

I hate Adventure Time.

Just because you hate it doesn't mean the show is bad for children.

I don't know why you listed it. Its full of low brow, sometimes inappropriate humor, the dialogue is on par with ren and stimpy and uncle grandpa and its not a bastion of well drawn design, so no it doesn't belong on a list of beautiful, thoughtful, or intelligent cartoons. Not growling at you btw. Just pointing it out.

The choppy frame rate is a horrible choice. It's tough to watch. Having seen the entire trailer it was hard getting used to. I don't understand why they did this. When you pause the video the art looks good but in motion it's like my internet connection is lagging.

That's strange. I wonder why its doing that? Hopefully they'll fix it.

It looks like an intentional style choice

 ...does not compute...

I was excited until I saw that animation style and I just can't watch it now. The godzilla anime on Netflix and the Wakfu series are similar and I just can't look at it... I'm sure it must help with budgeting but these styles don't work well in 3D. What a shame, I was looking forward to the show up until now..
-
Ish this makes the cgi looks cheap with that lag, hope they dont make that the final animation.
-
It finally showed up on my netflix, and... I had to stop watching after ten minutes. I was expecting the beautiful animation style of Airbender and Korra, and this computer animation is a huge disappointment. Goodbye Dragon Prince.
-
I watched the first episode. The 3D animation is rather off-putting. And that opening narration just kept going and going and going and going and going... Geesh. I'll pass on this one.
-
I thought the background art was nice. But everything about it so far has kind of been done before. I think I would have loved it before I saw Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Star Wars and read almost any fantasy novel where the main character learns he's actually someone special. Makes me feel old and disillusioned actually.
-
Seems like I'm the only one who watched the entire first season...?
My partner and I found it enjoyable, can't help but think of Callum as the new Sokka (same voice actor and similar humour). I'm keen to see where it goes. ^.^

Totally just mowed through Dragon Prince this week! It definitely fits that Avatar-shaped hole in my heart. Can't wait for season 2 (hopefully there's a season 2?!).

Probably. And they seem to be going for the Avatar approach to seasons, calling them "books" instead of seasons.
But even if Dragon Prince doesn't return; The Last Airbender will be remade into a live action series!

I'll take either one haha! Super-stoked now that the same composer as The Last Airbender (https://www.cbr.com/avatar-the-last-airbender-live-action-composer-jeremy-zuckerman/) will be scoring the live-action series.
