Postage is what puts lots of people off swaps unfortunately! I will be trying my up most to ensure its domestic shipping only but unfortunately there may be the odd need to send out with country - so if you signed up I would aim for an Aus partner but you may have to post to NZ. You have a couple of weeks anyway to think it over...and if not I am sure the mini swap will pop up later in the year and may work better for you.

For sweets? I like Mike & Ikes, Swedish Fish, Starburst jellybeans. Though more than candy I'm a fan of Luna bars(white chocolate macadamia, s'mores, nuts over chocolate, chocolate raspberry, cookies'n cream delight, and iced oatmeal raisin) and Clif Shot Gel(strawberry and razz) and Clif Shot Bloks(strawberry, tropical punch, black cherry, and orange). But really, so long as it's vegan, I'll probably eat it and be happy. ;p

I have a lot of really strange illnesses and go to the doctor a lot. I'll have different medications given to me, and I have pretty bad reactions. I want to say the sulfur medication was the one my hands broke out funny. It's been a while, and I'm not super sure it was sulfur. They just decided it was best to avoid sulfur medication. >_<
Oh really? I actually haven't done those styles well mostly fusion, but not a lot of Egyptian or Turkish. Wow though that is a long time, I'm jealous. I can relate though because I take breaks between my dancing and then have to try again. I'm kind of trying to get back into it again, and I've been working with those Shimmy dvds. I actually like those, but the terms are different than what I'm used to. :lol:
I do choreographed fusion style mostly. Our teacher likes to mix it up. But my background is in Egyptian and Turkish style. I've been dancing for almost 10 years now, but I am not really good. I take a lot of breaks between dancing and I am such a klutzy person. I take the classes to help me learn to be more confidant and feel more graceful. As a kid I had a lot of people make fun of my dancing and lack of coordination but now I feel better about it. :)

mine is the pearl too, so I stick with the alternate birthstone, alexandrite. much prettier, imo!

Alexandrite is actually quite rare. Until they started creating it synthetically, you could not find it at most jewelery stores. If you wanted an alexandrite piece you would need to find a jeweler who specializes in gemstones. Not your mall shops. For this reason most people are not aware it exists and wouldn't know what it looks like.
Interesting tidbit: Alexandrite has color change abilities under different lighting and can go from purple-reds to watermelon-greens if you bring it under fluorescent vs natural light. It is one of my favorite stones.
Anyway, it is not that alexandrite is outdated. It is more of a supply and demand issue. The supply is very little, it has had little to no advertising and so the demand is also low, so they don't produce very much of the synthetic stuff for the main stream stores and the natural stuff is very rare to come by so specialty stores only have a little bit of it, if any at all, and it is very expensive.

That is a good question, because I doubt most of us can find ponies that don't need to be shipped. I so wish this swap was before the Fair so I could have looked then!!! I personally am going to NOT include the shipping cost to me because I want to get my partner as much as I can! Because, gosh this is fun!

I have question too. If our partner writes on their swap list that they want certain accessories (like princess wands, baby bottles, pony wear, etc.) Are these items included in the $35 budget or are they considered extras?

About sending stuff...wait and see what the weather is like the end of September...remember that's when we're shipping.We have a saying here, you never know weather till you live in Arkansas. I always wrap my swap ponies in a zip-lock baggy and then wrap in cute paper. That way, if the package gets soaked, at least the pony itself is safe.
I do the same thing as Babushka; ponies in ziplock baggies then gift wrapped. I remember reading about someone having their ponies ruined due to tissue paper getting wet:(

I'm SO upset. I got two ponies for my partner in the mail today and one has cancer, regrind, paint loss, AND two nicks in the plastic above her eye :( I was so excited to find the pony that I just bid on it without studying the photo real well or asking questions! Arg! I don't fault the seller though, it was my own stupidity that I didn't study the photos further. The cancer and regrind really aren't THAT bad, but there is a really noticeable spot on her leg. There's no way I would send her to my partner looking like that. But she does have really, really nice hair :lookround: I think I'll just add her to my herd and try to find another one in much better condition *snuggles poor, flawed pony*I wouldn't mind a pony in this condition if she is one on my list!!! Because if you take stuff out, it's possible your partner already ordered it or got it and now you don't need it anymore. Thanks for the confirmation on wish lists guys :) I was just answering an earlier question as mentioned there is no harm in adding - with a couple of months of shopping sometimes its helpful to your partner if they get stuck if they perhaps have a couple more options.

Hmm, so I wanted to go with some suggestions of wrapping the pony then sticking them in a zip lock bag. I am not in this swap but please do not wrap your ponies in colored tissue paper. This has the potential to ruin them badly. Your best bet is to use white and a baggie first...then you may wrap the bagged pony in colored tissue paper. Tissue paper that is colored will bleed. Put a piece in water and see what happens. Because of the fact its hot all over the USA right now a pony coming from a cooler climate may sweat leaving and going to a hotter one...or vice versa. That condensation will hit that colored tissue paper and bleed onto the pony and ruin it. Also if you plan on wrapping ponies ahead of time, I always take the extra step of wrapping the hair first so it won't rest on the pony's body and possibly cause a dye transfer from being on the body for a long period of time. I use tisue paper or perm papers for this. ;) I don't know if this would happen, but when I am in swaps I worry about something going wrong with my partner's gift...so I take precautions. Not to intrude or anything...just saw this post.... :satisfied:

I don't take chances with coloured tissue paper, but it never occurred to me to wrap the hair, too! :blink: I was recently talking to another pony collector who also suggested putting something soft between the pony's legs before shipping to prevent them getting warped in transit. So many things to think of, wow...
I've never heard of the hair itself causing stains. Most ponies seem to arrive with their hair wrapped nicely around their legs.

It really does not matter how many ponies you get as long as you reach the swap value. It could be 1, it could be 4 or more. You can always take a look at some of the swap brags in the brag forum to get an idea.

I LOVE jellie bellies! My sister and I used to get them and play "guess the flavor". Our favorites ended up being juicy pear, margarita, coconut, and buttered popcorn. And the sours! Those are so good. I still sometimes close my eyes and see if I can guess which one I just ate.

Ooh! Do you have all the old packs with discontinued colors? I have a box of retired colors because I was sad to see a few of my favorite colors go. Yet, I can never use them because they are retired. I don't collect them, but I still keep that set!

I understand why they no longer call "peach" "flesh", but I miss having a "flesh" crayon in the bunch. It sounds so sinister! I also miss Indian Red. That reminds me when I was little I told my mom, "Why are we called white? I'm a big fan of Tim Burton's Nightmare before Christmas :-D Fiance has promised that we can dress up as Jack and Sally at some point. This year we're going to be Gomez and Morticia Addams. Although I usually have a Halloween party and dress up, it's more of an autumnal celebration for me--that is, I like pumpkins and harvest stuff, and cute costumes, but I'm not really into the scary stuff. So as long as it's cute and not gory or scary, I like it :)

If I'm your partner then I have to say I'm torn. On the one hand, you've gone through a lot of trouble and there's a reason you chose her for me. On the other hand, I've never re-haired a pony and the idea freaks me out. Or by "almost hairless" do you mean the flocking? If the pony still has a full mane and tail, I would definitely welcome her into my herd. :)

There are some swaps that I wish I could go back and re-do (like the Valentines Swap this year) because I feel my box was very lackluster compared to this one. One of the best parts is I always instantly forget most of the things that I've sent so it's almost a surprise for me too XD
So...I was having the worst day ever and had just gotten out of the shower when my buzzer rings. I was like oh my gosh, package! So I scrambled to get out there and get it! And oh my gosh! I was so excited I was shaking! Got the top open and grinned like and idiot! Inside the box were the awesome space print parcels and the glow in the dark star panorama! My box was from Madhatterda! :frolic: I shook all the way through opening squeeing! She was so good to me! I feel so spoiled! Best box ever! I so agree! I kept a bit of the paper you used to wrap mine. I'll save it and maybe use some of it it again. I know! I am so bad. I like to reuse paper if it is super cute! I figure it is recycling. I also put bits in my scrap book to keep if I particularly love it.

It's kinda gotten worse, caused issues at work and had to have the nurse come in to take care of me. Just have a lot going on right now, and I feel really really sick. I've been involved in a lot of mail swaps in my life--even running a large monthly swap group of my very own for three years--and I have *never* had a swap experience like this one. I haven't been among the 'inner circle' of conversation that's happened here on the thread, it is true, but I've had such a sense of community and friendship and generosity of spirit. Having shipped my package off today, I wish that the swap experience wasn't over. It has been absolutely THE BEST because you, with your amazing kindnesses and encouragements and joyful anticipation of doing nice things for other people are THE BEST.You're amazing:). I feel the same way you do. This has been a fantastic swap experience for me too!

I'm glad we can encourage one another with our swap boxes, especially after all the drama that has been going on in our little group. Deaths of pets, sickness, work issues, bad news in general.... it can all get so overwhelming and depressing. It has been nice to see the boxes come in and how they've really made someone's day.

Indeed. My issue isn't as drastic as others. My problems cannot nearly compare to losing a pet because that's simply heart-breaking. But mine is a work issue. Been trying to find work closer to home for a year now. I work at a hospital and there is another hospital under the same name that is ten minutes from my house. The one I drive to takes over an hour and is in dangerous traffic. I'm tired of spending ten hours a week on the road just for work, and spending over $100 in gas. A fourth of a tank of gas could get me to work for two days or more at the hospital closer to me. Well, recently they needed help in at their switchboard and I'm already trained. I started yesterday working as a temp there. Everyone was thinking it's guaranteed they'll take me on since they have three people out sick on extended leave. I spoke to the manager yesterday and he said it would hire me on the spot, but the higher-ups won't let him hire anyone else. I have had MANY interviews in the last year when putting in transfer requests for them but had no luck. This time it's a real slap in the face that I'm going to be working there for a bit, then kicked out. I seriously had to keep myself from bursting into tears when he told me the news. Maybe a miracle will happen and one of those out won't come back (at the same time, I hate wishing misfortune on another, however). But with the way my luck is, I don't think that will happen. Words cannot describe how frustrated I am with the whole situation. I should be grateful I have a job and am, but I just want closer to home to save money and time. Plus, I am already falling in love with the atmosphere and coworkers there. I will cry when I have to leave. I know it. It sucks. XD
Okay, I didn't mean for that to be so long! I am sure the ponies in my box will cheer me up immensely. Ponies have a great way of doing that, ya know!

reanna-mator, I also married a brit that had to move here from england. we've been married almost 2 years, did the courthouse thing - have yet to do an actual ceremony for family/friends, but we still plan on doing it :) going next month to go see his family for the 1st time since he moved here for his 30th b-day!

So many people in this swap have undergone such hardship these past few months. Lots of you to pray for. I'm not saying I don't have my own troubles, but it hasn't felt right to share them as they pale in comparison. I wish I could take away all your hurts, return your loved ones to you (friends and pets alike), and undo any damage that has been done.

Well it was my freezer that burst into flames, strangely enough. Some electrical problem. My apartment will have to be completely redone, new wallpaper, floors, the lot. My kitchen, hallway and bathroom is all charred and black, while my living room and bedroom "only" has smoke and water damage. My ponies are currently packed up waiting for the grand rescue attempt. Hopefully I can get them all cleaned up and restored. Fingers and hooves crossed for me?
Still no box here.

I think the problem is quite a few of us shipped early which is stretching the receiving period of boxes a little - as as many people shipped pre deadline as shipped on it or even a couple of days later!
