Extra tailess bubbles???  :blink: She is in super good condition despite to tail. Or should I try and trade someone for a baity one??? Please don't eat me :yikes:

Get nylon hair that matches Bubbles and redo the tail.

I've been in this exact same position. It is your bubbles and you have the right to do whatever you want with her. Do what feels right. If they try to eat you, bite back. If you feel like this bubbles should be a nice custom, then a nice custom she shall be :)

you don't have to, she's yours and expressing love for her by customizing her is also a form a love. :)

Just to put the other side of this debate...

You can of course do as you wish with your property.

Just remember that G1 ponies are finite and the more that get customised, the fewer that will remain into the future. I genuinely don't know if it matters or not with Bubbles, or how common she is overall - but just as a rule of thumb, it's worth thinking carefully about.

There are many people who would rather restore than customise ponies in much worse condition than yours.

Again, not telling you what to do with your pony. But just putting the other side of the debate for reasons of fairness and transparency.

Someone out there is probably willing to replace the tail and add Bubbles to their collection or sell her on. If she was my pony I would not customise her, simply because of what Taffeta has said about there being no unlimited supply of G1s.
There are also plenty of worn out bait ponies out there that could become the custom idea you have in mind, I'm sure.

I'd give her a new or donor tail. The thing with the sitting ponies is that they still look good with quite short tails so perhaps a donor tail that is a bit frizzy at the ends and would be OK to shorten.

I have a Bubbles and a Seashell who came without tails (and in a bit of a mess) - cleaned them up and made them both new rainbow tails - Bubbles has a shortened tail from a beat-up rainbow pony, Seashell has one made up from small hanks of different colours of left-over re-hair hair, a 'Bitza' tail :) . Both ponies look lovely on display.

I definitely wouldn't customize a pony who was in good shape except not having a tail.  Replacing a tail is about the easiest restoration project possible.

If you really want a sitting yellow custom pony, why don't you buy a Basic Fun retro Bubbles?  She's only $10 and you won't be erasing a vintage pony who survived for 30 years without getting pen marks or age spots.

Every time I get a G1 in the sitting pose I think to customize or not... Then I go nope, you're in high demand as is. As stated, your pony, do with as you wish. :o)

Missing a tail really isn't much of an issue at all; fixing it takes such little effort. Some people even specifically collect G1s that are missing their tails. Buying a repro to customize and selling or trading your extra Bubbles seems like the perfect solution :)

I also think you should fix her up and sell on, sell her on as is, and get a repro (or even perhaps try to trade her for a repro bubbles?) one to customize :)

I'm usually on the side of it's your pony and do what you want.

That said! Because the retro ponies are out there right now, I think buying a retro bubbles would be much better then customizing a vintage bubbles.

Because I don't drive I never make it to my target plus my Target never even had the first set so I highly doubt they will have these.
