There's so many favorites and classics its hard to tell who'd come out on top. Let the voting begin! :)
-
Wow, all of these are such classic G1 ponies! It was hard to decide, but I eventually picked Moondancer because she has such a pretty color scheme and she is so fun to draw.
-
Powder was always my favorite growing up with gusty a close second
-
Any guesses based on my avatar and sig? :) :) I had to go with Twilight followed by Moondancer and Gusty. I always wanted an adult Gusty to go with my Baby Gusty but never got her.

Gusty. It was a toss up between her and Majesty, as I had them both as a child. I know I had Sparkler too but she just doesn't stick in my memory as much.
-
My vote was Glory. I love most all of the ponies in that list, more for the fact they were mythical characters in my childhood, but I really really wanted Glory. My Mum hunted in vain for years for her for me when I was a child. We didn't know she wasn't sold here. I was totally in love with Glory and Medley. I guess that decided it for me overall.
My Glory hunt actually had a happy ending. I still don't know how or why, but I found both Glory and Moondancer at a carboot sale in the UK once in the late nineties. It's the only time in ten years of carbooting that I found them, logically because they weren't in the UK. Neither had tails, but I didn't care. Mum made them woollen tails for me, and then when I got to be online, I traded for replacements. I feel like that find was Glory *finally* answering my childhood wish to have her in my herd ;) So my Glory is super special even though she's obviously had a long and loved life. I would love to know the story of how she came to be here. Was she a gift from an overseas relative? A holiday souvenir? A migrant moving across the atlantic with her owner and family? Unfortunately I can only guess, but she's not going anywhere now.
My Glory :) Still keeping all her secrets, even though she's now been with me for probably about twenty years.

My mind always used to boggle when I'd hear of US people finding lots of Glory and company on the second hand market. I think maybe their rarity here, much as I resent Hasbro's decision, makes them a little more special somehow? I dunno, but Glory's a rare and beautiful treasure in these parts ;)
Powder would probably be the second one I might have voted for, I loved her a lot too as a child because she appeared in the winter time in the comic and I was a winter baby...but I guess only Medley can really compete with Glory, and she's not in the vote ;)
-
Gusty got my vote. Though Twilight and Moondancer are very close seconds.
-
I love Gusty - but the others are classic beauties, too :) it was hard to choose, really!
-
Choices, choices. I like so many of these.
However, I would have to go with Glory. I love the look of a white pony with a dark primary mane color and a bright highlight. Moondancer and Gusty have a similar aesthetic, but it stands out more for Glory.

I think its the grass is always greener. Im sure their maybe alot of Kisscurls in Europe but I don't see her as much on my side of the pond.
I love Sparkler or Sunbeam. For Sparkler the diamond pattern is neat. Her colors are very appealing to me. I dont mind Glory because she has purple hair and I like white colored ponies. Sunbeam may not have the greatest pose but I love how it reminds me of a sunny day with a blue sky. I think they should of put her in Sparkler's pose.
-
Haha, it is true...in the past when carbooting you would probably see ten or twelve Kisscurls over the summer. Though I bet Hasbro didn't write stories about her over there to make you love her, and tgen not put her on shelves.
-
A tough decision, I'll go with Sparkler!

I see her rarely in my neck of the woods but that doesn't mean I wont see her again. lol

Gusty, of course! <3

That's a lot of Gusty.
-
I voted for Moondancer--my very first pony! But Glory is a VERY close second.
-
Sunbeam is my favorite, but Glory, Sparkler and Moondancer are all close behind.
-
Gusty, of course! <3

Just wow! -falls over- :drunk:
-
This might have been the hardest poll I've seen!!! I ultimately chose powder, but not without almost crying haha! The unicorns are my favorite!!!
-
Oh I love all the unicorns! But I'd have to go with moondancer. I love ponies with a space theme, and moondancer is just so pretty! She has a big star made of littler stars around a silver crescent moon! Beauty and grace has come from outer space
Gusty, of course! <3

So much gusty! Where on earth do you keep them all?! It's massive! Are we all sure you aren't making a secret gusty army to take over the arena with?

I don't think I would mind a Gusty overlord tbh.

It just occurred to me that Gypsy isn't in this poll. I think I didn't notice because it said G1 unicorn sets, but when I thought about it, Glory's set has Medley etc and Powder's, Heart Throb, so Gypsy should be here? (As should Buttons, in my opinion, as Gusty is and here she and Buttons are in the same set...xD)
-
Man, Gusty & Moondancer are both one of my faves. I chose Moondancer, since I love her colors and symbol. ^.^
-
Moondancer for me! I really love her pose and variants, i have this girl on the way at the moment ^.^

Majesty for me! I love her in the comics.
-
My favourites are Windy and Majesty; they were a couple of the ponies I fussed over most in my childhood herd. I really like Moondancer as well though, her colour scheme is gorgeous!
-
Moondancer, always! I see I'm not the only one. :P
-
Moondancer is the first unicorn pony I saw when I was little and instantly fell in love. I'm a bit obsessed with her

Euro Gusty followed by Sparkler. I love the pose and color combos. Also Gusty was voiced by Bart Simpson in the cartoon, if that's not lovable... :P

Now what is this small figure next to Baby Gusty and Dolly Mix?
-
Teddy, I LOVE your Gusty army! I think Princess Gusty is my favourite, so beautiful :)

I was wondering this, too! :o

Oh gosh: Gusty or Powder, Powder or Gusty? How to choose? Is it possible? I think I am having to go for Powder because she has been such a favourite since childhood and I have a special girl on the way right now. And also because she is one of the 3 survivors of my elusive childhood herd. But this was so super hard...
-
I couldn't choose an all-time favorite so I just went with my current favorite and most recent unicorn, Majesty. I didn't have her as a kid, but I had a book (a book about Posey's birthday, I think) where she appeared and I remember thinking she was pretty. I guess I've always liked that shade of blue. Her regular release isn't very pretty but I love her mail-order version.

I vote Twilight. I spent a long time desperate to have her after seeing Escape from Midnight Castle and it wasn't until a few years ago I finally added her to my herd.

She's so pretty!
Isn't it a shame that what came with the castle more often looked like she'd had Spike hanging onto the ends of her hair for a few years...?
-
Majesty got my vote.
-
Glory got my vote, didn't own her as a kid. But I did find her two months ago while thrifting (her and Gusty)! My favorite shape is a star and I love her purple/silver scheme. Gusty is a very close second because I love her pose and Fall is my favorite season.
-
I really, really like Powder. :)

That's a G3 Tiny Tin I customized years ago. ^-^

Wouldn't know. I've never seen her in person.
-
glory, she was my first, it was a hard pick though, i would have picked moondancer and sunbeam but not a fan of their pose still love em though :)
-
Gosh, it was so hard to choose just one. I honestly love them all, but I particularly struggled to narrow it down between Twilight, Glory, and Moondancer.
-
I'm gonna have to go with powder.
-
I'm going to have to say Sunbeam. I love her color combo. Followed closely by Majesty because I love blue and white together but I would prefer if she was blue with white hair.
-
I like them all but I picked Powder. I just love her! I love everything about her! :)
-
It's between Majesty and Powder, but Majesty wins ;)
Love pkw xxx
-
Glory. :) She was my first pony and I've always thought she was prettiest. Plus, she has the power to move "between" worlds. My 2nd favorite is Gusty and then Moondancer.
-
I'm too late to vote but mine would be Gusty. :)
-
I've only got Powder so far out of the bunch, but I chose Twilight! Such a lovely color scheme.
-
Though I love them all - unicorns are the best! - if I have to chose just one favorite it would be Gusty.

I can narrow it down to five. :yikes:

Which five?
-
Sparkler, Gusty, Glory, Skyflier, & Powder. Really, ALL of the early unicorns were quite pretty. I'd include Gypsy too if she were on the list.
-
Gusty, of course! <3

So... Much.. Gusty... I'm so jealous...
I voted for Majesty. Love her design and color scheme, she's all kinds of awesome in the UK comics.
Although technically she shouldn't be on this list. She wasn't part of one of the unicorn sets, she was a playset pony and later a mail-order pony. Or was there an off-the-peg release in the UK?
-

Yep, agreed. I LOVE Gypsy and would have voted for her had she been an option... As she wasn't there, I voted for Powder instead :)

Not quite accurate. Sets refers to groups of separately-sold ponies within a year. In Years 2 and 3, sets were classified based on pony type: Pegasus Ponies, Earth Ponies, Unicorn Ponies, Sea Ponies, Baby Ponies, Rainbow Ponies. That's why, for example, Moonstone isn't on this poll - she's a unicorn, but she's part of her year's Rainbow set and not its Unicorn set. From Year Four onward, the sets were classified by gimmick instead of pony type (unless the type in itself was a gimmick): So Soft, Twinkle Eyed, Twice as Fancy, etc. That's why Buttons isn't on this.
But by that same token, Majesty's inclusion is odd: she was a playset pony, not separately sold at retail.

Actually they kind of did. I loved the Tales ponies as a kid and always used to wonder why Hasbro never made them.
-
Gusty
-
I voted Glory since she was a childhood pony and I loved her glittery shooting star symbol and the contrast of her white body and dark purple hair. She went on many adventures with me. :) Moondancer is a very close second though!
