By the way, if you come across an unexpensive new book from your partner's wishlist, of course you can buy that one! I just said "used" books so that the swap can be cheaper than when we have to buy all new books.

I am having lots of spare time at the moment, so I would like to host a Book Swap!
It will be a used, second-hand paperback book swap only, just to keep it cheaper and easier to track down books. Therefore all participants must be ok with receiving used books, that means they have been read before, might have something written or underlined in them. The only thing that is not acceptable would be missing cover or pages, and torn pages, or completely damaged cover etc.
The swap will be based on wishlists.
You should include a few small extras such as candy, tea, stickers, stationery, ....
Pony extras can be added but you don't have to, they are completely optional.
Please mention if you are interested in foreign languages (add the languages you can speak or that you are learning to), and if you would like to receive magazines, newspapers, children's books, colouring books as well.
I suggest we send 5 books from our partner's wish list. But I am open for discussion here. It's a bit difficult to set a spending amount.
Requirements:
You must have been a member for at least 6 months and you must have some positive seller feedback here and at least participated in 1 swap (provide feedback that your partner was happy with the box).
Wishlist deadline June 5.
Rules:
Books should be wrapped nicely. Just because we all love to open presents, right?
Don’t pm your partner, it would spoil the surprise.
Include a card or note from you in the box.

Looks like it might just be a bad time for most of us right now. There sure was a lot of interest in a book swap though. If you don't get enough people to join, maybe try again later?

I participated in the March ATC Swap( art board) and several private trades - All of which have left feedback in my profile. On the old arena I did a couple of regular swaps but I don't have the links to those anymore. I've also participated in several of the MLPTP's ATC Swaps.

Quick question! I have a list set up in Amazon already (have had it for a while lol). For the used part would they just be able to buy from the used sellers? Or would they have to venture out into the real world and find the books and just use the Amazon list as a reference?

I was thinking mid to late July? gives us time to shop around for books, I love thrifting to find things! I'd like to have a bit of time on this otherwise the easy way out is online used books but the shipping can add up.

I agree with mid to late July since a lot of used book stores have funny hours that make it difficult to get there when you are working full time. Oh and I love shopping on amazon for used books, I can usually get books that I want for cents (and then shipping) so I will try to buy books from the same used seller so I only have to pay shipping once, it works out pretty good.

I got my partner! I realized all my wishlists books were harder to find childrens books/comics... I just added a few more easy to find 'Classics' I've been meaning to read to my list.
And I'm a nerd so I'm pretty easy to please! ^.^ everything from science books, stuff from thinkgeek.com, not really into the star trek/star wars fiction however ... never got into the scifi reading.. more a non fiction person in my 'adult' reading.

Ah, this is a neat swap I would love to have joined if I had the money. But honestly it would be pointless for me to get a lot of books. I have at least 30 in my backlog. All of them would have been read by now if it weren't for a rule change at work. We used to be able to read at our desk when we weren't busy. Thanks to a surprise visit by the CEO in our office and fear of people being laid off since we didn't look busy enough, my boss had to crack down and stop the reading. He has good intentions. If he had it his way, he would let us read. He's afraid of us losing our jobs. I could get a couple novels read per week that way. But though I adore reading, I don't read much when at home. I'm busy playing around on the internet or playing video games. But yeah....if I were more into reading more at home, it would have been sweet to get a whole bunch of new paranormal romance series or horror books. Hope ya'll get some great books! :)

All my local bookshops were dry of any books on my partner's wishlist. :/ So ... bit the bullet and got 4 on the way from half.com! feels like cheating almost... I'm determined to find book 5 at a thrift shop!! Just I know my life is going to get too busy for thrifting soon. ;) Also got a few extras from my pony trade box picked out.

My local bookstore was out of all the books on my partner's list :( but I did get to catch up with the lady who runs the store... I was so sad to hear her husband passed away. They started up the book store as their retirement hobby.

I have four books so far for my partner (had to do some online shopping) and going out again next week to try a few more second hand stores. I have a few small extras but want to do a little more shopping for those too!

WELL... I had pictures taken for my teaser pictures. But I dropped my laptop last Wednesday and lost everything since the hard drive is now defunct.

I apologize, I was waiting on some of my extra's in the mail but they didn't show up today. I ended up going out and getting something different. I got it wrapped and all packaged up (I'll put pictures up in a bit) and it will go out in the post tomorrow morning.

*hugs* Whew! I'm sorry I didn't post about it sooner! My week has been CRAZY. I was at a Ball Joint Doll Con on Thursday-Saturday and then had my normal D&D Sunday. So I took a peek in the box but I haven't unwrapped anything yet. I'll be doing that tomorrow.
*snug* I love to read so I imagine that I will love it all! I'll be taking tons of pictures tomorrow! My class finishes up on Wednesday too, so I'll actually have extra time to read! I'm super excited!

I got my box today, Honeycomb!! :tackleglomp: I love it, so freaking much and the fact that you took in my love of peacocks was what sent over the edge into epic. :heart: I am wearing the peacock ring right now as a matter of fact. And the books....*drool* I am so happy with them, especially The Secret Circle and Batman (LOVE me some Batman) books! Ah, I only wish that I knew where my camera was so I could share the epicness with everyone...D:
I hope you did not put in any candy because it looks as though customs got a hold of it at some point, but I can live without the munchies as everything else was amazing!

So glad it made it! No, I didn't include any candy, because last time they told me it is not allowed to some countries. I am not sure it was customs who got a hold of it, because I had to wrap the books in the post office, so maybe that is why they looked a bit crumpled!
So cool that the ring is the right size! Shopping for you made me come up with the idea of the animal swap, because it was just so much fun!

Awww, I inspired something! *does bashful cheer* If the ring had not been the right size I would have made it fit because as soon as I opened it I was all, "*___* Oh my god! *forgets about rest of box for a while*"
