I don't know if this is really the best place to put this, but I need to stop buying ponies! I'm sure there used to be a thread where people could sign up to not buy ponies for 30 days. Unfortunately I can't find it now. Anyway, I need to have a break from buying for a while, and 30 days seems like a good amount of time. Help?

I haven't bought anything in like three months. I want to, I could so go for snagging someones lot of like 50 G3s from eBay or Craigslst, and since my dad was crashing at my place for about two weeks, I couldn't play with my pones, so lately, I've been all about them. Got all that pent up 'gotta brush ponies!' energy in me I need to get out.
However, I've just dropped about a grand into my business, which has brought in no money this year, so ponies are on the backburner.

I think I've got or am in the process of getting everything for my swap partner. I'm not counting things that I am in the process of buying. I'm just not allowed to start buying anything new. I will have lots of ponies arriving in the near future I bought a while ago, so really it shouldn't be so hard. >_<

I didn't end up joining the last 2 that came around, but it turns out I could have. I haven't bought anything other than for swaps for most of the year. So, apart than for swaps, I would be in. If I find G1s locally, I'm totally bailing though, lol.

Okay, well I have made myself a signature so hopefully even if I am tempted people will not sell to me!
Rules are:
1. No buying of ponies for 30 days, this includes accessories and merch.
2. Ponies that have already been inquired after but not paid for are allowed.
3. Swaps are still allowed, since it's more like a big trade.
4. Personal trades are still allowed, since it won't be costing any money.
Basically NO NEW PONIES BOUGHT FOR 30 DAYS!

I could definitly go for something like this aswell XD Right now I'm on day 2 out of 30 *go me* :P As it is the end of the month I'm really low on cash and know I have to save it for other - not as important - things such as food and gas etc. But it's soooo hard when you scout Ebay and the salesthreads and come across a pony here and there which you DEFINITLY need >.<

Stay away from eBay -actually I went to the Fair this year and didn't buy a single pony or accessory - I got the Fair pony with my package but ended up giving her to a friend in FL who couldn't attend the fair. I just kept telling myself at the fair that I needed to eat for the rest of the week...

Giving this a bump for anyone else who wants to join.
Okay. I made it to day 2! (I was at like day 3 then I bought ponies on Saturday so I had to reset the days. >_<)
I agree staying away from ebay is a big help. I also have no pending pony payments. So I think I'm good so far.
I've also been cleaning out other things and looking at other projects plus trying to finish my pony projects. Keeping my hands busy so I don't search for ponies.
Any other tips?
Anyone against sharing progress? I think this will help too.

After making my last purchase for the month, I'm quitting for 30 days. I need to focus on cleaning my current G1s and sending off a few G4 to some lucky collectors and customizers.
This is going to be so hard I'm not sure what to do. :yikes:

Yes it will! If I'm not home sick I cannot buy things...in my defense I have been sleeping a lot to get better. I couldn't sleep now because the other half has caught my sickness. She's snoring something awful and keeping me awake since she cannot breath properly. >_<
I think getting some pony hair and doing lots of restores and hairing might keep me from buying. We could have something like knitting circles, but ponies and hair. :shifty:

The best I managed was an agreement with the Boyf that restricting ponies meant not buying anything from the internet G1, 2 or 3 before Ponycon. However brand new from the shops g4s were allowed.
Very little will power in this house. But you go guys!!! ^_^ :happy:

Joining in! I'm seriously putting myself on a spending ban for a good long while (I'm still a... young adult? lol. Basically of the age where the only stuff I need to spend money on is stuff I want. No bills yet). I went a little crazy after my birthday with buying, and now I need to be done until around Christmas. I want to see Phantom on Broadway so badly for the 25th anniversary. And I really want to save up to get good seats. Haven't bought ponies in a while, but my official ban begins today.

I am just trying to save my poor bank account. And also as it gets into winter my heating bill will sky rocket again *eyeroll*. Being warm and having a non-damp flat is probably more important than ponies.

enolaalone. i got this castle thingy. lol and a couple g3s and a couple ponyville adn a g 3.5 nothing super spectacular.. but my mom bought mt shining armour and candacde FS sweetie bells train car, the tea set and the sccooting freinds for christmas. (only becuase we had a coupon) i got a email coupon from TRU lol and now back to not buying.. lol and hten we went to target and i saw the FS ones. and i was like o.o *grabby hands* so yeah >.> i actualy picked up the favorites collection went.. no *put it back* lol but i'm over all happy with waht shes gotten me! were going to hope that for black friday they put some of them on clerance. never know.

yeah i ahve a few people that i still owe moeny too. lol. but once everythigns settled! if i made arranged before i started then i'm goign to follow through. but ona happyer note i just need to finish paying it off and i have a near complete baby buggy with cuddles! and the dream castle carrying case!

i'm good.. lol i was at wallmart and my wally world had the baby RD on sale >< my dads in a grumpy mood i of coruse stop to look and go ooh its on sale! and dads like your making people look (of coruse there was no one around lol) buti 'm good still no ponys bought! but i did get a giant tv! and i got home and there was this awesome mail. and it was a bag of eeyores!!

I have been doing a lot of trades! Which means I'm getting rid of some ponies I don't need and at the same time upping my trade feedback :)
Also I've been cleaning ponies & fixing up baits :)

lol the only spares i have are a few g3s. lol i was selling psoters! which i hav ea ton of but its so hard to find htose blasted tubes the town wher ei liv ein.. my little post office doesnt carry the small ones. o.o

You should do 30 days off blind bags! They are very cute I agree, though I only collect the ones standing on their hind legs and at the moment I am only missing hard to find ones.

I would not make it either. But I did tell myself that I can not buy any unless I have the funds in paypal or my checking account. No more charging on the CC. That is what gets you in trouble. :(

I think you can have free ponies, if your aim is to save money. I've allowed myself trades, which are kind of like free ponies, so I think you could get some from work. :)

well its a donation run thrift shop. so we could get in g1. it really all varys!! but all i'veen so far is g3. i did find a g1 hasbro softie. and i've found a few plushies there. but its amostly all been g3. and ponyville. found a few so soft newborns. mostly mcponys but ocsialy i found a g3 pony. i'm hiping one day i walk in there and i see a g1 playset XD but i can hope right? :biggrin:
i acutly am in charge of how it runs my own personal toyroom i lvoe it lol though soemtiems its a very big job.. getting everyhting sorted out. i wasnt able to go last week. and youc an tell stuffs jsut piled everywhere >< but i get to sort though the incoming toys. and dig through bagd. set things out. organize the layout for the room.

How is everyone doing?
I had 2 transactions in progress before this started (I even forgot about them) but other than that, I've stayed pretty strong. Oh boy has the Nirvana Sales forum tempted me! Arrrrrrgghhhhh.....
Anyway, I've used the time to do some much needed cleaning out of the house. I've sold some unused craft supplies, books, and in progress with selling some extra ponies. I still need to sort and clean ponies. No more room....
Hope everyone is doing well! I think I may go on a short Nirvana spree and do this again!

I have a bit of a problem. Because I'm about to change jobs I'm moving from weekly to monthly pay. The last time I'll get paid will be the end of this month. Then I don't get my monthly pay from my new job until the END OF NOVEMBER. So I am going to have to quit 30 days off ponies, buy a pony to cheer myself up, and then go back on something stupid like 40 days off ponies before I get paid again.
I am pretty annoyed, because I had things lined up to buy and I was excited to finish my abstinence and be allowed ponies again, and now I can't have any :( Or maybe one, really cheap one. :cry:

oohh that sucks. i only have a certian amoutni can spend on ponys. i get paid once a month so unless i get my dad to bu them for me.. ocne its gone its goen lol. um.. are tehre any thift stores yard sals flea markets youc an check for ponys?

Okay. I'm gonna resist ponies until I clean, sort, sell, or trade the ones I have already. Unless there is one I really "have to have" no buying! Seeing a few pass me by while doing this has helped with asking myself which ones do I really want. My list is getting shorter and that's not from acquiring more ponies! Yay!
