A year ago today, I bought my pedometer. (It's a gadget you wear that counts your steps). I bought it to inspire myself to get some exercise. Boy howdy, it sure worked! :shocked:
Over the past year it has counted 4,453,969 steps. An average of 12,202 steps per day.
In the past, I've also briefly alluded to plotting myself a virtual walk. From Lethbridge, where I live, to Yuma, my hometown. I made it to Yuma after 10 months worth of walking, but decided I needed to make another route to keep myself motivated for daily walking. So I plotted another route back to Lethbridge, via a different direction. It takes me through towns that have friends or family living in them, so they'd have some meaning for me. Here's the map.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share my love of walking. Very good exercise. :gallop:

THAT is so cool!! What an awesome idea!! I love to walk myself. When Mattman and I moved to SC we found that for the first time since we married, we lived on a road that had next to no traffic. One that we felt %100 comfortable walking the dog on. We love nice days and talking our hound out for a jaunt! It's an awesome chance to just spend some time talking without home distractions. I can't wait for Spring so we start walking daily again!!

i walk when the weather gets nice and i pick up trash along the road in both directions for about 4 miles. when the festival in town hits i walk 3 miles to town then walk all day , then we walk the 3 miles back home.

Thanks for the comments everyone! :grouphug: I walked yesterday for 8.5 miles. My toes are a wee bit sore today, but it was worth going further than ever before, and back. :D

I like to walk also, but the stray packs of dogs chased me to much so i stopped:) no that is no joke!

I LOVE walking, but it is so hard to go for long walks here. I also got a pedometer... just this last November (you know the Walking Trainer game for the DS? Picked it up with it's 2 pedometers for $7.50). I love it! I love seeing how much I've walked... although it's depressing lately as I just can't get my butt outside to walk. Whenever I'm in town, I just want to walk, but we live on a highway in the country, and it's a busy highway at that. Sigh. I'm always afraid of getting run over with how some people drive.
I can't wait until spring/summer when I can take the kids into town and walk outside again. To the park! right now, we 'mall walk' whenever we get the chance. :)
