Confetti objects! Violence!

...So on topic. Most of my G2 are in storage now, sadly, but my favourite was from the start and remains Berry Bright. I love how they do her mane in the 2 colours.

And my most recent G2 addition is probably either Melody or the one with the dragonfly on the symbol, both from ponycon last year.

Most recent UK G2 find was Waterlily at the toy fair. I really LOVE her colouring. Those last three all arrived after I packed up my G2s properly so they hang out with the G4s most of the time XD.

I always liked G2. They're different from G1 and I will always love G1 more, but I never hated on them and I'm glad they have the love they deserve now.

Oh yeah, I noticed that in my Berry Bright.

And I wish I could go to Ponycon, although all is not lost, I'll probably be able to go in the future (If I get a job over in America or Canada, or get a large yearly income) And the most recent G2 I got was Her Majesty Great Romance for my birthday.

I've never found a G2 in the wild but you found Waterlily? That's such an amazing find and I agree, she's so pretty and I agree on the G2 love! :D

UK Ponycon, not the pony fair, I've never been to the US one xD.

Yeah, I was surprised too as I wasn't sure we'd had them that late in the release. I've also found two of the musical ones, Rocky and...the green one...here as well.

Waterlily is really pretty though :D

I really like G2 ponies, I have quite a few but I don't have pretty pictures of them at the moment, unfortunately. :(
But I have a bait G2 that's going to be G1 Morning Glory. I just need the time and material. ^^

I found Golden Glow at Goodwill once, even though I live in the US.  Wild!  I'll have to take a pic of my G2 collection at some point.  It's small, but brightly colored. :P

Ahh I love g2s!
I think I have the least of them, although they may have overtaken the 3.5s now! Here’s precious, my favourite g2. The runners up are princess crystal and magic butterfly (blue with dragon and purple hair). I would love to get jazzy as my name’s jasmine xD ditto for the g1 jazzie!
I’ll try and take some pretty pictures of the others!

G2s are so beautiful! Here are all of mine!

I have the least of them compared to the other generations since I live in the US. Most of mine were local finds with the exception of the babies, who I bought from a friend in a Discord server. So those are my only Euro G2s so far.

I have a few of them. I love them! They look so sweet! My most recent was Silver Swirl from a trade. i have yet to clean up her hair. Most of mine were found locally, including Medicin.

I remember bringing a bunch back from holidays in France in 2000...I think those twins were among them. I still call them by their French names. I think they're the ones - Vive-la-vie and Vive-le-vent.

But I also know I bought Golden Glow, Silver Glow, Copper Glow new here. I thought I'd sold them but I found them in the attic a couple of years back so apparently not. I keep finding random MIP G2 in our attic...obviously stuff I put aside for a reason and then forgot or lost...

I am happy to see this thread, as I really like G2. I remember some years ago they were pretty underloved, and I never understood why, so I'm also happy to see they get more love now.

I clearly remember them appearing in the later 1990s, and I was happy to see them - it never occurred to me to compare them to G1, I never really preferred one over the other either (if I'd have to name only one generation as my favourite, it'd be G1, but in reality these two are tied for me), they were just different, but still the same. I was in my teens back then, but my sister is 5 years younger than me, and I still loved to play with our ponies together with her (I was that lucky teen who never experienced the "I feel too old for toys"-stage, even in my high school years I enjoyed playing with Barbies, ponies, or role playing Sailor Moon with my sister). I also got a Clever Clover for one Christmas when my sister got either Morning Glory or Petal Blossom (she got these two shortly after one another, so I cannot remember for sure which came first - the second must have been a nameday present in February), and joined by these new "teen ponies", our pony families had great adventures together to faraway lands behind the Christmas tree. The rest of my G2 collection (OK, apart from the McDonalds Happy Meal ponies) all came to me second-hand, from local online purchases or are thrift/second-hand finds. While I love the actual ponies, my favourite piece of G2 merchandise is a Light Heart beanie pony I "got" from my mother - "got", because I found her among her stuff in one of the cupboards, already after she passed away. She always picked up things she knew I liked in second hand shops, I suppose this beanie would have been a present for the next occasion she in the end didn't live to see  She's the pony with the brown awareness ribbon in my signature.

EDIT: I found a very old and blurry photo of Light Heart :3

I sadly don't really have pictures to share. I should really take some photos of my G2s (and also ponies in general, for that matter) - I did take two Sky Skimmers with me for a photoshoot a couple of years ago, but I never edited the pictures in the end (I remember not liking how the pics turned out and just didn't get myself around to try to make them work), and now I couldn't find them :(

I'm so glad there's now a G2 thread! My first exposure to the MLP line was actually the G2 PC game, which I played all the time when I was little <3 Also I had a whole bunch of G2s/playsets that I got second-hand and loved. Ivy and Sundance were always my faves! That is...until I discovered there were boy ponies in the G2 line as well <3

Now, who's everybody's favourite g2 pony?

Pretty Parlor Ivy. She is perfect to me.

I only have three G2s right now, and two of them are in the project bin to get new hair some day. But I love them. I love to rehair them even tho they are the w o r s t to rehair with their hardened heads.

Sky Skimmer is G4 Fluttershy's grandma. I hate how she never gets brought up. The G2 erasure is real sometimes.

Now, who's everybody's favourite g2 pony?

Hip Holly! I'm aware that she can suffer similar stickiness to that of the G3 Divine Shines, but she's still my favorite. My biggest G2 grail at the moment! I love how she has a unique gimmick within her own set. Love her bright colors too.

I hate to think what's in her plastic as she smelt horrible when my sister took hers off the card (I mean as a kid, not recently, LOL!). We renamed her Hip Vomit on the spot. Little surprise she stickifies. Mine is still on card >.> She can stickify and smell behind plastic barriers.

Same here! I love the G2 video game and I've been looking around at all the charity shops for it! I've actually never had a G2 to play with but it turns out I had a Ivy Chap Mei at some point.

Man, hard to pick just one favorite!  My top three are Silver Swirl, Princess Golden Light, and Princess Silver Rain.

I am bummed that G2s never got (not-hairclip) pegasus ponies, they would have been so cute with molded feathery wings.

YES! I recently started to collect them after having a secret love affair with them for years. It is such a shame so few were released in the US. But thankfully it makes it a easy US set to complete xD

Ah! Time to interject! I'm hoping to make HQG2C toys with actual proper wings! Although I've got a long way to go, I'm gathering one of each mold and scan them in 3D to make new poses!

Yay G2! What an underrated generation!

My girlfriend had some G2 ponies in her childhood collection: Dainty Dove, Sunsparkle, Light Heart, Tender Nuzzles, the beanie version of Tipsy Tulip (who was the mother of Baby Tiddly Winks), and a few McDonald's ponies (Ivy, Sweetberry, Sunsparkle, Light Heart, Silver Swirl, Morning Glory). We have since added quite a few others, and even found a big bundle of them in a local charity shop (I love that charity shop!). I think my favourites are Silver Swirl and Sunsparkle.

Count me in! I A D O R E the G2 babies, their expressions, their size... they're just perfect! I'd have a hard time if I had to choose between them and G1 XD

I have too many I like a lot to be able to choose just one favourite. Clever Clover and Light Heart (all&any versions) have the most sentimental value, but by appearance I really like Silver Swirl/Star Swirl, Sky Skimmer Junior... but also Dainty Dove, Princess Sapphire, Prince Blue Dream... I could go on. And of course all&any babies :3

She was my only G2 for many years but now finally she is getting more and more companions! :D Im currently waiting on a nice lot, will post them when they arrive! I adore G2s. The sparkly  eyes for starters! When a desk lamp shines on them, it’s as though  the room is filled with lightning  bugs.   As for favorite... it kind of depends on the day lol...  but Wed afternoon bride and...errrrrg, can’t think of her name. White with purple hair and crescent moon...and Prince  Firefly, and  Twins Fire and Flame.

What about playsets? What’s everyone’s favorite playset? I love the wedding carriage. It’s such a lovely display in its box (and the little beanie g2s rest on top quite well...), and out of box (I have both...) is just fun. And the G2 castle is my favorite castle of all gens of MLP castles.

Yay for G2!
I love them so much.
I still remember them coming out. First one I bought was the beautiful Berry Bright.
I also clearly remember getting the birthday set with Light Heart and Sundance in store, and getting Princess Twinkle Star from my grandmother for my birtday.
Last one I bought in store was Waterlily.
Thankfully I still have all these <3
And many, many more.

My favorite is now Princess Crystal and I have a huge army of her ^^

Oof, favourite playset? First one that comes to mind is the Rainbow forest playset that comes with Sunsparkle, I quite like how it looks, I like the water, how the tree is molded, ect. Second one is probably between Sweetberry's castle and the mansion.

Pony Garden Playcase! <3 I used to have it when I was little and I loved it so much.

The playset (and G2s in general) always gave me a very 'fae' vibe growing up, like you'd found a bunch of magical friends hidden away in the forest somewhere. I love it!

HOORAY! A thread for me! I will have to try to take pics of all my G2 beauties sometime. I actually happen to run a G2 appreciation blog on Tumblr, I just feel like it’s so underappreciated by some and wanted to have a place where its admirers can congregate! My fave always has been and will be Ivy. I think because her game was my favorite on the PC game growihg up.

Good one... I think the Sailboat. It's just plain awesome!

I used to be on tumblr a lot, although since it scooter shinned itself I've stopped going on. I don't have too many memories of the game, but I remember spending the most time in Sweetberry's kitchen!

Wedding Carriage and the boat are my favourites. :)  I actually have 2 MIB carriages with different languages but afterwards one turned out to be opened and the ponies were taken out. And since I don't have a loose version (yet), this moral dilemma pops up every now and then.

The playset (and G2s in general) always gave me a very 'fae' vibe growing up, like you'd found a bunch of magical friends hidden away in the forest somewhere. I love it!

Yes! My headcanon is that the G2 ponies live in friend groups in separate gardens - the friendship gardens. Except for the princesses, who live in the castle of course. :)

Sky Skimmer was my first G2 and Petal Blossom was her best friend. They took care of the fauna and flora respectively (Petal Blossom had her pin cushion flying cloud). How did you all use to play with your ponies?

I think G2's inception is very interesting and I wish we knew more about it. All the amazing prototypes that have been unveiled raise a lot of questions. It's been rumored that G2 was originally being developed by Kenner as its own toyline, separate from MLP. But when Hasbro bought the company they slapped the MLP label on them. I'm somewhat sceptical to these rumors, but it would explain why the design is so drastically different to G1.

But G2 is unique in many ways compared to other generations. There is almost an "action figure" feel to them with the all the action features and the specialized accessories each pony came with. The accessories also told you a lot about each pony's personality/hobbies. So even though there was no cartoon or a lot of stories otherwise, the core characters seemed very well defined.

Then there's the evolution the line went through in Europe. Culminating in the very weird last years where it seems it was mainly Hasbro France in charge of production. Suddenly some ponies used their French (or English translations thereof) names even on the English parts of the packaging. There were ponies that had the exact same colors and symbols, but different names. Lots of reused and generic accessories, and everything seemed very hastily and randomly thrown together. But this also resulted in some very unique color schemes. And names that are nothing like MLPs from other generations (Like "Medicin" and "Miss Teacher") and seem like they were made up by someone whose native language was not English.

It's too bad Hasbro completely ignores G2 whenever MLP's history is brought up. I'm hoping it will be covered in the upcoming "Toys that made us" episode, but probably it'll get a passing mention at most if even that. :(

They were developed by the Kenner employees, at Hasbro's behest.  :)  I found an ex-Kenner employees blog about it a long time ago.  (No longer have the link unfortunately.)

They reason they looked so different from what came before was the ex-Kenner employees purposely tried to put their own spin on MLP, and also Transformers (Beast Wars), which Hasbro also gave them.  Their company being consumed by Hasbro left them unnerved and a little rebellious and they wanted to show some independence, not just produce something that looked identical to previous Hasbro products.  So MLP turned into G2 and Transformers ended up being robots that turned into organic looking beasts, which was also a radical departure from previous Transformers.

Great point about the later names!  Nosey and Click are my favorite examples.  For a long time I wondered why they'd give a name like Nosey to a pony.  Then I found out her French name is Curieuse, meaning curious.  You can kind of see the connection--nosey, curious. Someone just didn't know English well enough to know that if you say someone is nosey you are being rather more unkind than saying they are curious! ;)  As for Click, I think her name is supposed to evoke the click of a camera shutter, since they are tourist ponies.

It was indeed that way , the first g2s that also were released in Usa have both Kenner and Hasbro logos on the cards :)
Hasbro bought many companies,The Royal G2 Castle was a Galoob Kissing Dragon Castle, after buying that company they revamped the Castle and voila, "New" play set :)
I own that Kissing Dragon Castle ,it actually is very fun , it has lights that activate with water, sadly all the high tech did not go into the MLP g2 castle .
The Garden play set was also a Kenner's LPS  play set , before it was revamped to be a G2 play set .

This thread is so interesting! I am learning a lot (yay pony knowledge!).

I love all the accessories G2 had, though I don't have any except a couple of combs and a party hat. That little set with an artist pony and all her painting accessories :lovey:. I would love to get some G2 accessories but I don't often see them for sale. I think G2 was a really good generation for accessories and playsets. I would love to have the sailboat too!

Asked my girlfriend what games she played with her childhood G2 ponies. She says they lived with her other ponies and fakies, Light Heart was a dance teacher, and Tipsy Tulip was the mother of Baby Tiddly Winks. Morning Glory was an adventurer pony. She also found Dainty Dove's moving legs totally fascinating, because all her other ponies were pretty much static.

YAY a G2 thread! Love it  :rainbow:

Ooh That kennel information is new to me, really friggin interesting. I really wish theyd made a cartoon series of G2, like the G1 and Tales. Both of those inspired alot of plays.
I still have a lot of dreams, where I find a new  G2/G1 pony prototype.  :snicker:

I also love alot of the acceccories that came with them. It def made me choose the pony and also how I played with it. Like what kind of pony it was, kind, adventurous, badass etc.
The most awsome acceccories to me, was with these ponies:
Light Heart and her bed. She was my first G2 and I always loved that magical bed with the rainbow.
Satin Splash had this amaizing waterfall with a hidden place.
Princess ponies: Crystal, Silver Swirl, Morning Glory with the ballroom. Moonshadows cabinet is also beautiful, I wish I had one irl.
All the 3 unicorns with magic wings.
LadyCupcakes acceccories were magical, but I hated her pose.

My fave G2's
Silver Swirl
Lady Sky Skimmer
Alot of Ivy's and Light Hearts
Hip Holly
All the light up family ponies
Festival
Golden Glow
Magic Motion families
I made that list by the ones I played with. If I think of all the ponies I have now, there are few more:
Sea Breeze
Bride
Both Diamond Glow's
Muse
Golden Glow II
Medicin
All of the dress up ponies
Snowball
Autumn
Miss Chef & Painter
Lady Elegant & Waterfall

That's great to know! I did suspect that was the case. But it was always exciting to imagine that the G2 design might originally have been conceived by Kenner as a potential "MLP knockoff", only for it to become official MLP.

It seems they were aware of the radical style change though. They put a rainbow logo under each pony's hoof and the text on the packaging instructed you to "look for the rainbow logo as the mark of an authentic My Little Pony" (or something to that effect). It makes sense, since out of the packaging people who remembered the original MLP might otherwise assume it was just another fakie. Also the logo and artwork (mostly) felt more in line with the traditional MLP style than the actual molds did.

This is very interesting as well! I suspect a lot of later accessories and playsets could've been reused from other toylines, and it'd be nice to know where they came from. Even in the beginning there was the reuse of Littlest Pet Shop playsets. And the original Pretty Parlor was reused for LPS, and then again for MLP.

Yeah, they are awesome! Those designs are pretty out there, but if Kenner wanted to put their own spin on the franchise it does make sense. Perhaps Hasbro made them rein it in a bit.

This thread has been most interesting.

Does anyone know the reasoning behind the numbers on the underside of the hooves?
While I take it that the number on the front right hoof (near the copyright) is an identifier for the pose, what is the number/alphanumeric code on the front left? Is it some sort of character identifier or a serial number?

Examples from my collection:
Spoiler
Berry Bright has "2" on the front right hoof, and "174" on the front left.
Petal Blossom has "3" on the front right hoof and what appears to be "23" on the front left.
Princess Crystal has "2" on the front right hoof and "25" on the front left.
Princess Silver Rain has "4" on both front right and front left hooves.

The winged unicorns are a bit more interesting. Golden 1 has a different style of feathers and hooves to Silver and Copper, which would explain the different numbers.
Golden Glow 1 has "12" on the front right hoof and "20" on the front left.
Silver Glow has "2" on the front right hoof and "A41" on the front left.
Copper Glow has "2" on the front right hoof and "A18" on the front left.

Edit
I'm edging towards serial numbers; I've just checked my two Tipsy Tulips, and while the "pose" number is the same (7), both have different idents (15 and 37).

@KingdomOfThomond  My guess would be batch numbers.  So that if some ponies started having problems, they could see if it was related to just one batch from the factory.  :)

Moonbreeze, would you be upset if I posted those prototypes to my appreciation blog? I think the followers would love them too. :) Considering they're your photos I presume?

Great point about the later names!  Nosey and Click are my favorite examples.  For a long time I wondered why they'd give a name like Nosey to a pony.  Then I found out her French name is Curieuse, meaning curious.  You can kind of see the connection--nosey, curious. Someone just didn't know English well enough to know that if you say someone is nosey you are being rather more unkind than saying they are curious! ;)  As for Click, I think her name is supposed to evoke the click of a camera shutter, since they are tourist ponies.

Also some trivia. Curieuse is such a cute word. I'm crying.

You can't see his other front leg but it's straight.  Future ones will most likely have all 4 legs straight because that thing was a nightmare to work around.  Not my best picture either.

I may or may not have created a prototype G2 plush.  I'm just saying, I love G2.

:O!!!!!! Do tell!

I don't want to be really specific because there are still edits to be made, but...

Wedding Carriage and the boat are my favourites. :)  I actually have 2 MIB carriages with different languages but afterwards one turned out to be opened and the ponies were taken out. And since I don't have a loose version (yet), this moral dilemma pops up every now and then.

Someone on FB recently had one up for sale...maybe in the G2 group. I believe they were located in Europe

My g2s will be the next round of ponies I add to my Snupps app, so I'll be having a couple days of g2 spa coming up, as soon as I've restocked shampoo and conditioner, then I'll have some pics of mine to show ^___^

Moonbreeze, would you be upset if I posted those prototypes to my appreciation blog? I think the followers would love them too. :) Considering they're your photos I presume?

The big prototype is MustBeJewel's. They're on my website with her permission ;)
However feel free to pics of my Queen Sun Sparkle and Apple Meadow prototypes (the MM Petal Blossom isn't mine either)

OMG SKEEN. You just made my day. That plushie is amazing!

@ Freezestime: cute! I've been trying to figure out a front view of the G2s myself :P I made some screencaps in the PCGame, so perhaps that will help! I personally make the sparkle much smaller, within the eyes :) It's up to you of course ;)

Let me say this..... I LOVE OPENING CARDED G2S!!!!

Sorry not sorry, think of it as increasing the value of yours if you collect them. I just recently started getting back into collecting G2Ss. I had some from before but now... well it has grown and will continue to grow.  My favorite has to be Sky Skimmer as she was my first, followed by Spring and Golden Glow II.  As for playsets, I like the simplicity of Holiday at the Beach but I can only go by experience. But one day I will have that boat!!!

IIRC Baby Fleur was the flower girl at Sky Skimmer's wedding.  Not sure if she's actually related to Sky Skimmer.

Edit:  Okay, I checked My Little Wiki and according to it Fleur IS a princess.  But that is not even the most interesting part about the set.

They go LOOKING for a prince!  Sky Skimmer doesn't even have a boyfriend, she just cruises around in her marriage-carriage looking for dudes!   :silly: (But only ROYAL dudes.  Get away, peasants.)

So did she get married to Prince Firefly? And regardless if they did, Fleur is still a princess.

Hey friends, is it possible that there could still be leftover factory stock of G2?

Noasar said approx 10 years ago 1 complete Mummy Charm collection was found in a Thailand warehouse and they bought it, so I think it could be possible that old factory stock, especially the first two years could still be found!

I think it's highly possible! I do know that a couple people were still finding G2s on the shelves of some smaller stores well into the G3 era. There was also a feed store/gas station on Route 66 that my family and I went to that was still selling 90's Breyers around...2010-ish I think?

So if all that exists, I definitely think that factory stock could still be found somewhere!

Edit: Hmm I might have to go back to Route 66 one of these days, see if there's still older stores that could possibly be carrying older ponies o:

Actually, if Hasbro doesn't want them, why not make them our own?

As in, get the copyright to the molds, characters, everything besides the MLP brand and anything else they'd still own.

Hasbro will never sell the rights to the molds or characters.  If anyone is thinking about doing repros . . . just do it.

Do not, repeat, DO NOT ask Hasbro for permission.  It's very noble to want to do things "above board", but it won't work.  Hasbro will just say "NO, in fact you do NOT have our permission to do that" and then send you a cease-and-desist because you've alerted them to your operation.

Well, that sucks. Still going to look into making G2 reproductions like HQG1C.

Yeah, I think it's entirely possible to do something similar to HQG1C with G2 molds.  (Don't know how much demand there is for them, but as far as manufacturing--definitely.)  You could look on Aliexpress, I'm sure a lot of the bootleggers there are willing to make anything you please, for the right price.

The challenge is they usually don't do small runs of toys, I don't think.  So it would be quite the financial burden to jump in with, and even moreso if the repros don't sell well and you end up with, like, 400 of a single pony in your garage.

My original generation! My G2 ponies were ruined in a house fire when I was 10, but I had Lightheart, Ivy, and one other (a pink one with a magenta and orange mane, Name forgotten) and the fancy playsets. I've kept my eyes peeled for them, as I would love to have some to referb, and *okay, yes* keep. So far, the only one I've found was a Lightheart in a bag of ponies I bought at the Salvation Army. Of course, she stayed with me :).

Cheers for the information, and I'll take that into consideration.

My older brother was looking into factories willing to reverse engineer a Bonzi Buddy plush and he recommended Alibaba. My initial search has proved fruitless.

It'd might be a good idea to make blank ones which people can customise.

A positive side is that Australia has a free trade agreement with China or something, so I might be able to get free shipping.

Edit: My brother recommended something called recasts and apparently the Warhammer 40k is known for that, so I might be able to produce my own.

I don't want to get into the legalities of reproductions, I think those are pretty obvious.

But please, for goodness sake, don't reproduce exact copies of existing ponies. For a start, there's no point, the ponies exist already. For a second thing, if the repro was close enough it might then get mistaken for the original. For the third, it's exactly Hasbro's intellectual property.

Producing new original ponies in poses from G2 ponies is not more legal than reproducing existing ones. But at least they can't be confused for originals later on down the line.

I am wholeheartedly against the reproduction of existing older stuff unless it's done by Hasbro or under a Hasbro licence. I know there are folk who won't agree with me but I feel really strongly about this.

Well, and again this is my personal perspective, but there's a difference to me between someone taking a pony and making a custom version of another pony for their own personal collection or as a placeholder, and someone mass producing replica versions of an existing pony and selling them. Aside the legal minefield, that's just...off to me.

I don't personally like the making a custom of an existing pony thing either because I don't collect that way, but I can understand people doing that. I don't support commercial reproductions of anything Hasbro.

(I feel like this about flutter wings and sea shells and stuff too. They exist, but I am not a fan).

Here's my own small G2 collection.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Left to right:  Princess Golden Light, Princess Silver Rain, butch haircut Eve (I love her, I need to make some punk accessories for her), Prince Blue Dream, Prince Firefly, Golden Glow (found her in a Seattle Goodwill!!), Melody but I call her Jazzy, Baby Tickle Heart, Light Heart, Gardener, Snowball.

Prince Blue Dream came in a lot that didn't include Princess Golden Dream, so now he's Prince Firefly's boyfriend.  I headcanon that Blue Dream and Golden Dream are twins, not a couple.  They even have the same symbol, like typical MLP twins.   :hope:

Would be great to have blanks of G2 molds so you could make the same ponies as you could in the CD-rom game. That or some of the lovely prototypes!

"You have to move your pony out of the way!"

I literally heard the butterfly's voice playing in my head as I read this. I may have played this game a little too much as a kid...

AAAAA friends I have good news, a fellow thrifter in my city found a MLP G2 game!

I bought it off her and she'll send it off tomorrow!

And interesting side note, it's cover is one I've never seen before! It has Atari plastered on it and the most interesting piece is that it has a G3.5 logo!

When I get it I'll take a look at its publishing date, because Hasbro or whoever might publish it may release it every blue moon to keep its copy right up or something.

It reminds me of my copy of Rayman Accompagnement scolaire CP (that title is a mouthful). It was originally released in 1999 by Ubi Kids, but my copy has Mindscape on the box instead, no mention of Ubi Kids, and the date on it is 2006! The first thing I noticed when I got the game was that it has "Ubisoft" on it instead of "Ubi Soft" like it should have for a 1999 release. Same exact game though. I heard the 1999 version was difficult to run even on a Virtual Machine, but I had no troubles with it, even on Windows 10.

So this copy of Friendship Gardens might run better on modern hardware than the original 1998 release. It runs fine I think for the most part, except for the text being... weird, and some of the dialog being cut in places.

Does this copy of Friendship Gardens have any other company or whatever listed on it, or is it still only Hasbro Interactive?

I atleast had a G2 PC game, I still think it is somewhere in my house.

Friends, would you say that Prince Firefly stands out as a lot of people's favorites?

If so, he might be a good candidate for a reproduction!

I think he is quite loved. But there are so many otheeers :freak:

Like who? Maybe Wednesday afternoon bride or Precious? Or should I make a poll?

A poll could be good? =)

It's probably cheaper to buy any of those off eBay France and pay the shipping than to make a reproduction. I see the Wednesday Afternoon ponies there all the time, same with the Princess / Prince sets.  Not rare, just not likely to turn up on eBay US, eBay UK, etc.  But if you make it clear to French sellers that you're willing to pay international shipping costs, they will generally be happy to sell to you.

So general consensus, blanks will be an all over better option than character reproductions if I were to do it at all.

I don't have Windows 10 so I can't say for sure, but I do have Windows 8 on my laptop and it doesn't work sadly, so I'm guessing it probably won't work on Windows 10 without DOSBox or something like that ;u; Personally, I have an old 'potato' computer that I play my old games on and it still works there though! Maybe you could find a cheap old computer at a secondhand store or something to play it on?

Friends, it works nearly completely fine on Windows 10! Only visual glitches with some text.

And friends, they include a digital booklet labelled 2001! And seem to include screenshots of other games? I found Topgun and some kind of Tycoon game. Most of the files were lasted edited in 1999.

Hey friends, I just wanted to point out that on the 3 MIB playsets (Dainty Dove, Ivy's salon and Light hearts canopy bed) that I've found on Australia eBay; only the canopy bed has the Kenner logo instead of the Hasbro one.

This might mean that the bed was more of kenners thing? And the chapel/salon was more of Hasbro's thing?

Oh also friends, I have theories and questions I'm wondering about.

First is, what is this article? http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Holiday_Playsets_with_babies (http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Holiday_Playsets_with_babies)

Says unproduced, but I can't find any info on it. Anybody got any info on this?

Secondly, I've got a small theory regarding the Apple Meadow prototype and the 2002 changing hair pony Apple Pie.

2002 Changing hair Apple Pie

As a bit of background, friend Moonbreeze got this green G2 pony from someone in France.

She thought it might be a factory error until she found her in a 2001 catalogue!

Revealing all this info leads me to believe one thing, that the cutie mark given to Apple Pie was originally Apple Meadow's cutie mark; but something must've happened during Apple Meadow's development to discard her entirely.

What's your opinions on this theory?

Apple Meadow was 1 out of a set of 3 unreleased purse ponies. The other had a strawberry purse and the other an orange. I took some pics with my phone, but I need to find out where I put them on my PC...

As for the Holiday Twins. I have that one in a catalogue that I own. The ponies shown are actually Dart and Dash, but with a proto holiday set which eventually turned into Holiday at the Countryside/ Beach :)

I'm gonna guess the Strawberry one is named Strawberry Fields and the orange one is Orange Orchard!

I’m super happy to see this thread. :-) I was rediscovering collecting ponies when G2’s were just coming out, and I was moving to England that same year. I unfortunately didn’t get into collecting G2’s while in Europe, and still regret it to this day. I was in high school and was “too cool” for the new ponies and only collected the older ones. Now I am finding myself going back and picking up favorites that I remember seeing in stores during those years. I love the style of them, the glitter, the royalty, their cute babies. They’re so unique and different and really feminine. I’m a girly girl to the core and absolutely adore their charm.

On a side note, does anyone know of a good site to gauge rarity/current value of the different ponies? I am in the US and as most of these are European exclusives, eBay does not offer a lot of insight because they’re not listed there. And unfortunately I don’t read the international versions of eBay very well. LOL Trying to figure out what the ponies are going for and what our fair price is for them. It is a struggle as a new collector

Oof, that sucks. And I agree with their femininity statement! And while I don't know of too many resources, I do know that there is a book with price recommendations. I, however, would be more than happy to help you with prices!

Whoo! Welcome to the G2 club :)

Pricing EU G2's has become quite tricky. The G2 Book by Summer Hayes has prices in them, but they are way off.
It depends a bit on who you're looking for :) Some loose are $10-15, others... $30 and the few exceptions are now $50+ (Magic Diamond Glow)

I mean... Alternate Seabreeze was recently sold for €150  :faint:

Oh my goodness! That is quite a bit for Seabreeze! A bit out of my range. 😅

The other thing that makes collecting these tricky is trying to factor in the shipping into the value.  My head is already begun to spin. Some ponies I’ve found for a reasonable price,  but then $30 in shipping makes them out of budget.  I’m trying to find small lots to make the shipping more reasonable.

Are there certain years or styles that are more desirable/sought after?

I'd say the rarest years (In my opinion) would be 2003, maybe 2002.
I'd say some rare ones (In my opinion) are the boat plus its twins, Wednesday Afternoon Bride, French magazine twins Noisy and Click plus Study and Play, and aforementioned Diamond Glow plus both Seabreezes.
Those who're sought after (In my opinion) are Prince Firefly, Precious, Eve and Copper Glow.

Junior is pretty popular, I had sooo many people watching the listing when I had her on eBay.  I would guess mostly due to her nice color scheme (white and blue).

You ladies are awesome, thank you so much! Moonbreeze, your website is a Treasure Trove! It is the Dream Valley site of G2’s (and goodness do I miss Dream Valley :’( ).  I spent hours on there yesterday getting familiar with the different lines.  And multiplied my want list by triple! 😂

Question....Hip Holly.  I remember seeing her in stores, but I don’t see her for sale very often.  How hard is she to find? What is the approx value of her?

Also, how ridiculously hard will it be to track down Noisy and Click, and Study and Play...? Are they extremely expensive?

From my knowledge, Hip Holly was actually recalled because she got sticky, so the ones currently floating about are the ones that didn't get returned.

I'd say there's a few Hip Holly's floating about, I've seen her more times among G2 collectors for sale but only occasionally outside of those groups, maybe like 3-5 times on eBay for me? I've been in the pony fandom since Feb this year and maybe only really getting into G2's June/July this year(?) I think a quoted price from the G2 collector FB group was either 30 pounds or 30 euros (I get their symbols confused easily)

And for both the magazine twins, they were released in France only and not only that, they were released with the magazines so I'd say they're on the very high end of rarity. From my experience, I've only seen them in the G2 FB group for sale, maybe seen Noisy and Click sold together once on eBay?

I wonder, if Hasbro is doing everything to make each gen mane6-ed, maybe they can take g2's "core four" and add Sky Skimmer and Brights Bramley as close proximities?
They did it to ponies not-related to g4 charactrs at all already...

(I know they forgot of i...just imagining)

I agree, but the only rainbow pony of that gen is Lady Rainbow whos yellow.

Eh, when they tried to do that to Collector Pose 6, none of which are big on m6-similarity, and gave colorful strands to every one; maybe recolor Sundance's?

So curious -

What made you get into G2’s and why?

Did you like them when they originally came out?

Did you pursue them after they became a Europe exclusive line?

What is a grail of yours and why?

Myself - I was a G1 collector and rebuilding my G1 army.  I moved to England right at the release of the G2’s and only bought one during their release.  I regret not buying them when I was in England, but I was “loyal” to my G1’s. 😅live and learn!

My most wanted pony is TrixieBelle (hopefully with accessories).  I remember seeing her in Argos and absolutely loving her color scheme and fun accessories! I asked my parents to buy her for me, carried her around the store, and was told no as I was too old for ponies (16ish at the time).  So she is at the top of my list. :) followed closely buy Star Swirl, as I got the McDonalds ponies in England and always wanted the full sized Star Swirl. <3

What made you get into G2’s and why?
I collected G1 so when G2 came out, I just continued to collect MLP.
Did you like them when they originally came out?
Yes, I love them as much as G1.
Did you pursue them after they became a Europe exclusive line?
Umm, no. Since I live in Europe, we had them in stores.
What is a grail of yours and why?
The variants of G2.

What made you get into G2’s and why?
I got into pony collecting through helping my girlfriend look through her childhood collection. Most of it consisted of G1s but there were a few G2s as well and I thought 'hey, these are cute!'. I was already buying G4s and owned one G3, so I decided to collect a few of each generation.
Asked my gf how she got into G2s and she says she just bought anything remotely MLP-like when she was little: G1s, G2s, fakies, the lot.

Did you like them when they originally came out?
I was....four I think when they first came out? And I don't remember them! I missed out on being able to buy brand new G2 ponies! How silly of me!
Until recently I was sure I didn't have any MLP when I was little but I recently found a photo of me aged 6 and it seems to have something pony-like in the background with a yellow body and rainbow hair....so maybe I had Lady Rainbow and I just don't remember! Or it could just be some random fakie.
Edit: Oh no it can't be Lady Rainbow, she didn't come out until 2001. The hunt for Shaz's Mysterious Possible Childhood MLP continues .

Did you pursue them after they became a Europe exclusive line?
As previously mentioned, I didn't know about them.
My gf was too young to know that they were still available in Europe. As far as she knew, ponies were gone and she was back to just buying fakies and second-hand G1s.

What is a grail of yours and why?
I really love the G2 playsets, I would love to have the sailboat!

* What made you get into G2’s and why?

I grew up with them :) I love(d) their design and the little gems in their eyes.
I never heard of MLP before. G1 was a bit of shocker to see first time haha

* Did you like them when they originally came out?
Yes! I was six and saw the commercial on tv. So... we had to get Ivy :) I still have her

*Did you pursue them after they became a Europe exclusive line?
Yes, I could get most of them in stores. Eventually I did lose interest for a while...

What is a grail of yours and why?
MIB Sailboat or a MIP variant Seabreeze

What made you get into G2’s and why?

I actually found the game when I was maybe 4? I played it on and off for years, so I knew of their existence but it wasn't until I finally got into G4 with Shining Armour and Cadence, I researched the previous gens.

I ended up liking the molds of G2s then that lead me down memory lane,  and now I'm getting super into them.

Did you like them when they originally came out?

I wish I could have on an opinion on this, but I was born on the last international year and was only 1 when they supposedly ended in Australia.

Did you pursue them after they became a Europe exclusive line?

I wish, I was only starting to gain a human conscious at that age.

What is a grail of yours and why?

Hmm, a grail? A MOC Wednesday Afternoon Bride and either loose or MOC Her Majesty Ballerina.

What made you get into G2’s and why?

Because they're super cute! :P Plus I'm just like, an all generation collector. But they are very beautiful ponies!

Did you like them when they originally came out?

I was only two when they came out, and never had any (or MLPs in general) until I got into ponies in 2011.

Did you pursue them after they became a Europe exclusive line?

Again I was too young, and only got into ponies in 2011, but I mean I guess technically yes, since 2011 is well after they became Europe only (and well after they ended :P).

What is a grail of yours and why?

Hip Holly! Because I love her bright colors and unique gimmick. I don't care if she gets sticky, I need her. :P

So the ponies I'm gonna keep are the Sunsparkle, 1 of the Morning Glory's, Basket Surprise Ivy and Sweetberry, 1 of the Magic motion Ivy's (the one that works) and Canopy Bed Light Heart.

The clever Clover, Berry Bright, Petal Blossom and the other Morning Glory will be customised.

Clever Clover = one of the big brothers (Maybe Slugger)
Berry Bright = another big brother (maybe Wigwam)
Petal blossom = Miss Rockstar
Morning glory = Miss Aquatica (Marine Biologist)

I don't know what I could make the non functioning Ivy though, any ideas?

Edit - Clever Clover will be customised into Slugger and Berry Bright will be Salty.

Ooh, fun. Those look like fun projects. Perhaps a G2 Rainbow Dash from the Ivy?

I personally have little need for combs (if ONLY I could get Golden Glow II's somewhere).
But, it's all up to you :D Perhaps some fancy new colours?

Rainbow Dash is a good idea! Although I'd have to decide to either fix her gimmick, stick her leg on or somehow make a posing contraption.

Maybe some fancy colours, maybe transparent with stuff in it like Hip Holly? It might be a good idea to make the repros all white so it'd be easier to customise.

That's true, but that's easier said than done unfortunately. I think it'd be best to start with Miss Rockstar since I can incorporate most screw ups into her look, then move onto the others, I really want to make Miss Aquatica the best I can so I'll do her last.

Thanks Moonbreeze friend, and other friends, what colours do you associate with sea life?

For Miss Aquatica, she's a Marine Biologist so I imagine her colour scheme being very bright and colourful, I initially thought of her body being blue with like maybe 4 hair colours but that reminded me of Mommy Bonheur, so idk if I'd want them to look similar.

I'd be stuck with bright green/ blue hues. Maybe some white (sea foam).

if you're going for a more coral-y feel then perhaps light blue with pink/orange/yellow (whichever coral colours :P )

That's the one in Ivy's pose? I did actually break one of those (and nearly my fingers).
So... warm water is the key.

The one on the far right is that MagicMotion pose.

The plug is glued into the body à la G4 so to say. I wriggled Sundance's out with warm water and a screwdriver (and stabbed myself  as noted before)

I'm actually working on a page about this on my website! Should be done by the end of the day :)

What made you get into G2’s and why?

I was already collecting g1 and when g2 came out I was very excited. They are different but I love them.

Did you like them when they originally came out?

Yep. I was 12 when they came out.

Did you pursue them after they became a Europe exclusive line?

Not at first as I didn't have my own income source. Started collecting them more actively in the past year or so.

What is a grail of yours and why?

Right now my brain had been focused on Precious and Wingsong II (aka Medicin) but because I am a loose complete collector they have eluded  me. I will have them one day even if it means ripping them from the plastic prison with my bare hands.

Friendss I would like your opinions for Miss Aquatica's hair!

I'm gonna choose colours that are reminiscent of coral, so I'm thinking about 4 colours.

Yellow, green, pink and blue. But the question is, which colours? Or do you have a different colour recommendation? All from Retrodolls.uk

Pink: Ballet Slippers or Boudoir?

Ballet Slippers:

Not got many photos of my G2 Ponies, but have Customised & also have taken photos of every single piece of G2 merchandise I own; so many in fact I'm just posting a link to the Discord G2 merchandise thread (I dominate it wi my G2 merch)
https://discordapp.com/channels/536715987127631873/546050044898574346
It does help that when I search eBay I type "my little pony g2" in the search part

Editing cause I found the quiz
What made you get into G2’s and why?
Just getting into Ponies generally again in 2005. Some sites who liked G2s  had a great theory about their age I tend to agree with, & they integrate in my Ponyworld like that; as young teenagers. To prove the age theory, on the same Discord, if you look at G2 Customs you'll see two Ponies called Barmitzvah & Batmitzvah, inspired by the Hanukkah HQG1C Ponies to give them a family.

Did you like them when they originally came out?
At the time they came out I'd recently gone through a hard time & lost almost everything, so had to replace a lot of stuff. Ponies weren't that high on my priorities at that time, & though I saw some stuff (The Rainbow Forest playset for example) & liked it, I told myself I had other things to buy first.

Did you pursue them after they became a Europe exclusive line?
I started hunting all the first three generations of MLP at the same time, 2005. Plus I live in the UK, which helps G2-wise. The French ones are still hard to get, though I've procured some.

What is a grail of yours and why?
For G2s, it has to be that mansion!!! I'm running out of room for the G2 Babies & would love it for another nursery. The playpark twins, Nosy & Click, Study & Play, Springly, & Springdy, along with Baby Fern, are also on my wantlist. Grail I have is the amazing boat COMPLETE!!!

I'm so excited! I only have 5 G2s so far, (Ivy, Sundance, Clever Clover, Golden Glow, Flash) and since I just got all my ponies out of storage (gah, again! poor ponies) and a new job, I went on a bit of a shopping spree.

My final purchase was 4 G2s from a lovely seller in the Netherlands! She seems to be purging her collection, sadly. She asked if I'd take ALL her pony stuff but there was so much there was no way I could! So I grabbed these lovely girls from her, all of which I have wanted for a long time! Here are some photos she sent me!

My spree also included 4 G1s (Baby Sea Princess, Starglow, Dutch Diary, Barnacle) and 1 G4 (Sandbar) and a cool G1 pony shirt! I will post photos once all the ponies get here! Waiting on Barnacle and these lovely girls!

Since there's a G2 thread, I'll post here.
I have a light up Princess Silver Swirl, but her horn is broken and doesn't light up anymore. Do you have any ideas how to fix this? I can sculpt another horn, but I want it to light up... Is there a tutorial how to fix such pony?

I'm not a electricity person, but I think it'd be something in Silver swirl herself. You could open her up and try to see what might be loose/broken, or it might just be a battery thing.

In regards to her horn, You might need to repair it just using some clay to sculpt a horn, then cast it then fill it up with your choice of resin then remove the old horn (Or try to chisel out the missing chunk out of the completed resin)

What beautiful ponies! *you could make a religion out of this meme*

I used to have a g2 I played with every day when I was little!

Even as a toddler I knew it was a fakie. I noticed it didn’t have a MLP logo like my g3. Still loved her mane to frizzy death all the same. All my mlp toys got donated my accident, so all I have is some old G4s my sis colored on. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Welp! Four more years until I can buy them back (and get my own customs, oof)!

I really wish hasbro would do just a small tribute to g2. Even if they didn’t get as much money as they wanted, it’s still mlp history (and good history too)!

Finally getting my first G2, Miss Painter. Can't wait to see her in person. The gen's unique style will take some getting used to I think, but I do like her bright colors and happy looking eyes.

G2 ponies are licensed Hasbro products, they're not fakes. Unless it was a G2 fakie ;)

She was. She was a lilac alicorn with a white mane and a magenta horn. No cutie mark, the face was more realistic (think of a g2 pony with a g1 face and g3 eyes) and she had no logo on her hooves. Still loved her all the same, even if I might have frizzed her mane to basically velcro.

Any tips on how to open a Magic Motion with the leg/head action without damaging her? I want to reroot but my fingers are about to break trying to pry the head off.

Apologies for the dumb question, but could you let me know which one out of these is similar to Royal Ladies Light Heart (one leg up, no leg movement, only spinning tail)? Do these share head/neck peg mold? Have you successfully reassembled (or tried doing it to) the ones you've taken apart?
I'm considering customising a double I have of Royal Ladies Light Heart, but I'm intimidated by probably not being able to reassemble her. I also don't think she is in bad enough condition to customise her, so I'm rather kinda trying to talk myself off  :P But then again, the pose is super cute - anyone has one with chopped off hair? That would solve part of my issues with the situation

Yes. In fact, I am not convinced she was sold in the UK. I think she may only have been sold in parts of Europe...Moonbreeze may know for sure, but I don't remember ever seeing that set in the UK.

That said I've found a few here I didn't think we had (Water Lily, Rocky, Jazzy) so it may be distribution.

I have only ever seen her irl at ponycon, on a stall from a European seller ;)

Okie friends here's some concepts I've done.

Generational swap Petal Blossom, almost complete.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Generational swap Wing Song, needs their cutie marks.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Generational swap Sweetberry. I actually have a G3 base that I'm prepping.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

This is Lullabye Moon, an OC based off of G3 So Soft Bright Night who resided in a local charity shop for a while. Needs her cutie mark. I have a Sky Skimmer that's due to become her.

And here's my proposed G2 Rainbowdash (Probably PastelDash tbh) using a non functioning Magic Motion Ivy (cheers to Moonbreeze for that recommendation)

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Still need to make a Morning Glory gen swap, although idk how easy that'll be with the G3 cutie mark.

I'm not sure. I do have a Tipsy Tulip bait somewhere, so I could check (when I can visit my parents' again). The point is with these that I'm not sure if you can get everything back in place and have the Magic Motion bit still working.

I'm curious about something. Was Miss Painter only sold in the UK/Europe?

That... might have been me :) As far as I know she's been mostly available in France. Perhaps Belgium and the Netherlands. But personally I haven't seen her on the shelves in my area, but she does pop up every now and then on fleamarkets and second hand sites.

@ Freezestime: Looking great! I actually really like G3 -> G2 Sweet Berry <3

So here's some pics I took a while ago of my in progress G2 customs.

These have been shonkily painted white, so I'll paint them again, sand them down then they're gonna be painted white again. I'll leave around the eye until the end, as to not ruin it early on.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

An ex Pinkie Pie had chew marks around her snout and Sugar Belle had the magnet come out, so I just used some air dry clay to fill in the holes. The Sugar Belle will become a regular Mommy Bonheur, might dye her a bit green to get her colour closer. Both need the clay to be sanded down, painted over with white then figure out the correct colours for them.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Here's another lot, Including Lullabye Moon! I'm just not sure if I'll keep some of her pink hair or choose another pink, so she might be a rehair project.
Berry Bright will be a early model for a masculine mold, in which I might try again on another pony or cast that one. And I'll have one Sugar Belle with a regular nose.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Sky Skimmer will become Lady Rainbow, but only after I make a cast of her mold.
And both Sundance and Petal Blossom will be casted, although after that I have no clue who they'll be.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

And an important part of Australian G2 history! It's a 1999 or 2000 (I need to check again) September Mr Toys Toyworld catalouge with Princess Crystal! This is one piece of evidence that supports my theorised time line! And better yet, it's from my town so there's a chance I can find old stock or find some ponies second hand! (it has the store it was taken from on the back)

@Moonbreeze - I am pretty sure I bought a G2 pony from you, but I think it was the Pony Business that had Miss Painter ;) It's a long time back now though...xD

Either way she was very pretty, and I have never had an opportunity to own her. Maybe if I'd managed to remember to bring the Euro cash I had left over from a French trip to that ponycon I might have been able to negotiate ;) Never mind. A future ponycon, if one should be able to happen again in the future.

Miss Painter is here! I thought I'd hafta learn to warm up to G2s in person, but I liked her as soon as I pulled her out of the package. Her hair is really nice, the weird orangey stripes, (which I presume is regrind) gives her extra personality. She is a painter, so her job will get a little messy. I really like her! :good:

Well there isn't that much to tell :) And I am not such a bragger.
I got them from the collector who has asked for help with G2 pricing in another topic. I happen to know her from my earlier collecting years. We saw each other on meetings. She had a few things from my wishlist. And I decided to take these since the chance to find them complete and in box would be very little. The bride is not super rare but loose on the card.
As said I am not going to any convention this year. They are postponed for next year. So I wanted to treat myself.

Ack my heart!
Are you gonna keep them in box? Or are you gonna display them? and Bride is not super rare? Dude! She's one of the rarest in my opinion!! I've only seen her MIB once before and I don't recall seeing her complete outside of Lavendar Lagoon and other informational sites. Congrats on this haul!

They are not new in the box so yes I will going to display when I created a place for them.

As for the bride. Some rare ponies can be found more on conventions than online and that's also a source to determine if a pony is hard to find. And on this side of the world the chance is bigger to see her :)

As I know next to nothing about the G2 lines, I'd like to ask those of you who grew up with them some questions?

What are the popular and divisive sets?
Which ponies did you see the most and least of in stores? Which sets and ponies are your personal favorites?
How sturdy or problematic were the accessories and playsets?
What are your favorite playsets?

As I know next to nothing about the G2 lines, I'd like to ask those of you who grew up with them some questions?

1. What the popular and divisive sets?
2. Which ponies did you see the most and less of in stores? Which sets and ponies are your personal favorites?
3. How sturdy or problematic were the accessories and playsets?
4. What are your favorite playsets?

1. I believe the magic motion ponies have people on different sides? Personally, I felt they looked a bit more clunky and less elegant.

2. So unfortunately I only ever saw ONE G2 in an American store: Berry Bright. That was before I got into them. By the time I fell in love, their line had ended in then USA. I did manage to find some in stores in France: Bubbles, Copper Glow, Muse, Honey, Melody, and Magic Green Butterfly.

My personal favorites at the time were ones I didn’t have xD
Glittery Study, Golden Glow, Hip Holly, Lady Elegant, Princess Silver Swirl, Princess Crystal, Eve, Princess Golden Light, Bright Bramley, Secret Heart, Ivy, etc. I think I might still have my old wishlist somewhere...

Now my favorite ponies are: Hip Holly, Magic Star Swirl, Princess Sapphire, Her Majesty Star, Her Majesty Pearl, and well, most of them ^^;

3. I personally LOVE the G2 accessories. There were some cool color change items like Pies in sponge ovens xD I like the kinetic gizmos in the play sets like buttons that reveal secret compartments. My favorite accessories were the Magician Pony ones. The magical medallion that lit up all different colors? A DREAM for little me at the time.

A lot of the accessories are fragile, though, especially the clip-on wings.

4. I only had two play sets: the anniversary set and the nursery set.

My favorite at the time was the anniversary set because of that aforementioned magic oven. To be honest, though, I was more interested in the ponies and accessories than the play sets.

And something I loved equally if not more than the ponies? THE MAGAZINES. <3

Does anyone own nosy and click complete with accessories? That set is so hard to find. I’ve been hunting for years for them. Of course I still have a huge list of ponies I need. It’s just difficult to find them complete with accessories or MOC. G2’s are my favorite. Thanks for making a post about them!!!

I have them complete. I got lucky with a local French add. I believe there are 1 or 2 MOC ones around

Lol, same!

What are the popular and divisive sets?
Popular: the unicorns with wings I think. But most later Euro ponies are more sought after :)
Divisive: I'll agree with Skandalous there. The MM ponies look really bulky. Especially the one in Dainty Dove's pose. I love the idea of pose-able (even more as a kid) ponies, but hmmn...

Which ponies did you see the most and least of in stores? Which sets and ponies are your personal favorites?
Oof, a lot of the early ones of course. After the line got cancelled in the US, distribution became a bit sketchy here too. Some toystores had that set and some had the other sets.
I love the 2000 Royal set: Silver Rain, Fire Fly and Golden Light :) They have the most beautiful colours :lovey:
Next to that, I really like Ivy, Silver Swirl and Magician Diamond Glow ^^

How sturdy or problematic were the accessories and playsets?
Fine in general, but the Garden Playcase is the most flimsy one in my opninion. As mentioned above, I think the clip-on wings and the rings are the most prone to breaking.

What are your favorite playsets?
Sailboat!

Hello friends! How is your day going? Good? Bad? Have you completed any uni work? Or had a promotion at work? Any G2 updates? Set completers, rehomed ponies, ect?

I ended up selling 2 G2 lots to people on FB! They started looking for ponies recently and I ended up giving them 99.95 percent of my extra items (fences, combs, rainbows and ponies themselves) a new home! They arrived safely and are living with their new humans!

Please feel free to share.

Plus Pony toy ideas that maybe someone else can do or

Regular pony releases

Regular Moonshadow/Moonshine and Baby (Either named Starbeam, Moonbeam, Moondream or Stardream)

Regular Dainty Dove and Baby (Name unknown, but can be Sweet Dream or Daydream)

Cupcake with Baby Cake Pop

Current Moonshadow/Moonshine and older versions of her in a double pack, with a mirror version thing.

Alternate pose regular Moonshadow/Moonshine with Sundance/Sunsparkle with a small amount of accessories (based on the comic "The Silver Moon")

Queen Morning Glory and King Clever Clover with two variations in packaging - one with two babies (each random but never duplicates) and another with all 3 babies Flourish, Nourish and Bloom.

Play sets

Beach house playset that opens like a sims house (two walls plus roof on a swing thing to open the house up) (For Coral and Ocean)

Ocean/Island playset (inter lockable with the beach house) (compliments well with Miss Aquatica who would be separately sold)

Pool playset (Reminiscent of the 3d background in the video game)

Ooh, I did a couple of those ideas you pitched!

*Regular Dainty Dove
* Regular Moonshine/ Moon Shadow

It's such a shame that G2 babies are more difficult to come by. I think we need more G2 baby customs

I would love  a beach themed playset too :lovey: I might try to make a tropical G2 in the near future :)

and and....! I finally got all my toy catalogues. It took soooo long though! But the second one has the weird Dainty Dove prototype in it <3

I did some updating on LavenderLagoon.com as well. Now my 2 oddball/ prototype babies have been added to the information page: http://www.lavenderlagoon.com/prototypes.html (http://www.lavenderlagoon.com/prototypes.html)

:0!! More prototypes? N Y O O M

Just to put my theories out there

Oddball - I think she might've been produced as Sunsparkle's baby but the design changed for some reason, resulting in the baby we now know. The colour may be the closest to Baby Dew, but it's too purple imo, so could it started off as Moonshadow/Moonshine's baby?

I think that's the closest in colour, at least time wise. An even closer match exists in Autumn (imo) but she was produced in 2003 so I'm not sure. Or I could be over thinking things and she could've had too much of a certain pigment added. The symbol might've been a prototype design for Dart/Dash, Stardust/Moondust or Dew, or maybe just an unused design for a cancelled pony. They might've just stamped on a random symbol to show a technically finished item for the boss people. It'd match up with the 2000 twins as a few have headgear and it's the year Dew was released.

Jewel/sparkle - A semi related theory, where they pitched the initial designs to boss people on a display (hence the painted eyes) and got feedback on it. It could've even been an eyeless blank with just a symbol and maybe a designer painted them for their kids.

How they ended up where they were - idk, maybe they were thrown in the trash and rescued, on someone's desk when they were fired or retired, maybe even stolen, found in some old boxes in someone's attic or old Hasbro storage unit.

Ooh tropical G2! So many ideas! Maybe a whole set? Maybe even Tropical Babies?

Yay toy catalogues!! Are they going to be scanned and uploaded to your website? I want to see this weird Dainty Dove!

I think it gave both brands a much needed refresh. MLP's first gen had run out of steam and was probably getting fakie'd a lot, and Transformers' own second generation (consisting of recolored versions of early toys and a handful of new molds) was getting thoroughly kicked in the pants by competition from Power Rangers

Maybe Hasbro made some of the same mistakes with her plastic as they did with the more recent Transformers: Generations Whirl, whose plastic similarly has a chance to be odiferous.

I may or may not have created a prototype G2 plush.  I'm just saying, I love G2.

:O!!!!!! Do tell!

I don't want to be really specific because there are still edits to be made, but...

This is like...perfection?! Oh my goodness Skeen! I really hope you decide to sell one in the future because I would snap it up in a heartbeat

Psst....this one is yours. I'm a lazy beast who hasn't gone to the PO yet because I'm a lazy beast. ;)  The body will have some edits but I'm happy with the faces. I quit working on anything when I had surgery.  He's not quiiiite the right colors but I don't own him and used my best guess!

You can't see his other front leg but it's straight.  Future ones will most likely have all 4 legs straight because that thing was a nightmare to work around.  Not my best picture either.

Ooh, I'd love to see, but unfortunately the image link is broken :(

Well, and again this is my personal perspective, but there's a difference to me between someone taking a pony and making a custom version of another pony for their own personal collection or as a placeholder, and someone mass producing replica versions of an existing pony and selling them. Aside the legal minefield, that's just...off to me.

I don't personally like the making a custom of an existing pony thing either because I don't collect that way, but I can understand people doing that. I don't support commercial reproductions of anything Hasbro.

(I feel like this about flutter wings and sea shells and stuff too. They exist, but I am not a fan).
Well, I'm fine with it. They're reproductions of accessories, not the ponies themselves, so I consider it to be aftermarket support for discontinued product. And they give people who don't have the money to buy from an ever-dwindling mint-in-package supply or find the increasingly rare surviving original parts the chance to make their ponies more complete. Their makers are honest about them being reproductions, and there are tells - Starlight Studios' wings seem to have white tabs, and as far as the shells go I've only seen transparent reproductions of the Year 2 clamshells; the repro Year 3 conch shells I've seen are admittedly opaque like the originals, but are probably hallmarked as repros. They're certainly not advertised as originals.

Would be great to have blanks of G2 molds so you could make the same ponies as you could in the CD-rom game. That or some of the lovely prototypes!

"You have to move your pony out of the way!"

Sounds like it's the "You must gather your party before venturing forth" of that game. XD

So curious -

What made you get into G2’s and why?
They're just as cute and pretty as the other gens, and I wanted to have ponies from all gens in my collection. G2 is low on the priority scale for me rn, though; I haven't actively hunted G2s except for the first one I got, a yardsale find.

Did you like them when they originally came out?
I would have, but MLP kinda flew under my radar (not because it was a girl-targeted brand, mind you; I was interested in Barbie and Polly Pocket, I just never saw ads for MLP or noticed the ponies in stores) until G3 came along and it took till the FiM era for me to start watching and collecting pony.

Did you pursue them after they became a Europe exclusive line?
I did not.

What is a grail of yours and why?
Don't really have one yet, I sadly haven't given G2 enough thought to have one.

As of right now, G2 Sundance is my only G2. I think I shall have to dig her out for a photo soon.

So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this one will turn up as well, I mean she's a finished-ish product like my Apple Meadow.

Omg she Dainty Dove! That's so interesting! i think they might've just cut out the legs to show what the product would be, as there's parts that would block or severely impact the ability to move the legs. I do think this pose is much more elegant and fits much more with the whole playset though.

And aaah good luck with the pixel render! I used to render pics from the PC game as well! I had them as adoptables waaaaay back. In 2009 or something.
Crazy days with MS Paint

Wow! i hope we can find their prototypes one day! (If they were ever produced idk if that's a 3D render) Also does Moonshadow/Moonshine have no marking in that pic?

:0! Definite improvement and it's very nice! Here's my completed pixel render! I'll make a few variations like different eyes, hair styles, a unicorn one and some clothing (The first two are the easiest)

Feel free to edit it for your sig! I'll make an adoptables thread soon!

Yay! Seems like she's got some pen on her, did you get it off?

To my knowledge (I don't have her loose) she can be a bit sticky but I think people found a method of sealing it.

Hi! I hope it's okay to put this question here, I couldn't find anything using the search option. Is G2 Teddy rare? The yellow one with blue paw symbol. What's her value? Asking because I have a chance of buying.

She is not a common pony, probably worth around 15-20 dollars depending on condition :)
With her suit, comb and shoes she is probably worth around 40-45 dollars.

I recently sold all of my G2 ponies, but I always thought they were precious in their own way. I remember being so excited that MLP was getting a reboot. My favorite was Twinkle Star, with her pretty clip on wings.

I have VERY slight memory of playing the My Little Pony Friendship Gardens, me and my sister used to play it and I decided to play it and we both loved the nostalgia!
The pony in the game is kinda needy and the butterfly kept saying “You have to move your pony out of the way!”
I wish they had more pc games!

I loved the g2 PC game as a kid - I think I still have the disc somewhere! I played it over and over.
I also remember this, something that came with some other game or something, and it's icon was a treasure chest I think? And when you clicked it it put a white unicorn pony on the desktop that would run around and do stuff.

What a wonderful lot, freezestime! :wow:

I caved in and bought my first G2! :P Well technically second, I already had Baby Wiggles that I picked up at a flea market last summer. But the first that I added to my collection on purpose, simply because I couldn't resist. It's Globe Trotter, I just love the combo of yellow and blue. ^^ There are a handful of others that have caught my eye over the years mainly due to their lovely colours (Gardener, Miss Painter, Hip Holly etc.) but I wasn't actually planning to start collecting G2... whooops. :lookround:

I used to have Princess Silver Rain as a child (my last childhood pony) and my sister had a bunch of others. Unfortunately, with my sister's permission, I sold them all when I started collecting - at that point I only had eyes for G1 and G3. Totally regret that decision now...  :(

Hi everyone!

I have come across this girl and wondered if anyone knows anything about her or has seen her before? A few people said a variant or prototype but no one seems to know....

She looks like baby Flitter (same symbol and hair colour) but body in different pose, obviously different colours and she has some white in her tail.

Thanks!
