Snowcatcher! She's cute, she's blue, she's snow themed! What's not to love? I should adore her! And yet...

I can't be the only one who has OCD and noticed... Look at her "snowflake" mark. It has five (ten?) points. Snowflakes don't have five (ten?) points. Don't believe me? Check out this awesome Snowflake Geometry (http://www.its.caltech.edu/%7Eatomic/snowcrystals/class/class.htm) website.
Why oh why is your snowflake not accurate, Snowcatcher? Hasbroken! Why don't you know your basic science junk?! WHY!?

I completely agree with you by the way... only thing I can figure is maybe her cutie mark is supposed to be a "snowlike" star, a cross between celestial and weather symbols?? But if it were up to me, it would have six sides and be MUCH more elegant. And her hair wouldn't be red, it would be white, frosty blue, and silver. But they never ask me my opinion! The nerve! :)

Gee, I thought everyone knew snowflakes had 6 points. I tend to cringe when I see eight-pointed ones or even *gasp* 4 pointed ones! :blink:

Don't worry, we all have little pet peeves that bother us - I, for one, hate it when pony tails have colors in them that do not appear in the pony's mane and vice versa. Drives me nuts. :P
As for the snowflake, you're right but I'm looking at it as an abstract star/snowflake thing-y. She's still cute, though. :)

^This!!! I think I like the kitty more than the pony...but I am a sucker for a blue and pink pony of any kind so she was always going to be in my herd!

I always thought she looked green rather than blue. I don't like her color combo that much. But yeah, she is a talking magical unicorn. There is no place for basic science junk here. XP

In all seriousness, MintySocks is clearly a better designer than Hasbro. Winter themed ponies that actually look like winter=win.
Hasbro designed plenty of great winter themed ponies...Just check G3. Also don't forget that Snowcatcher was (in some places) sold before winter. I never really saw her as much of a winter pony.

Flickerswift, I wouldn't say for a moment that you were wasting our time! I looked at your link and I learned a few new things PLUS I go to marvel at the beauty of the natural world. Things like that are never wasted. :D
Oh, and I thought the five sided snowflake was a hodgepodge merge of a snowflake and a dreamcatcher. She's not one of my favorites, but so far I've been getting all of the $5 ponies..soooooo XD I do love her hair, though!

I don't know much about the G4 line or show at all... but today I stumbled upon a picture of a G4 pony that I absolutely adore - she was playing the cello. I play the cello! And then I saw her symbol - a treble clef. You don't play a cello in the treble clef! She should have a bass clef! *furious*
So don't worry, you're not alone!

Lol! To be honest I never thought about that :P since the main reason I bought her was because Rarity needed her Opal! XD You've got a good eye for details though ^^ and I agree that the snowflake site was very interesting. I love snowflakes! :biggrin:

I actually assumed it was just random clumps of frozen rain..... clearly I had no idea!
I do really like Snow Catcher (&her Kitty) she's one of my fave G4s.

Funny that was one of things I though when I saw her. That plus with her name I kept expecting her to be a cross between Star Catcher and Winter Snow or one of the Winter series ponies.

Wait, what? My Little Pony isn't Star Wars! Sure they referenced it in FiM, but does Hasbro think that means they have to put Snowcatcher in the Star Wars section? Wow Hasbro, wow.

That is Octavia. It is theorized that she is just generally musically talented, and doesn't just play the cello but other instruments that would be played in treble clef.

Personally, I´m not bothered. I mean, she's a pony and she's BLUE! So if I can accept that, I can accept anything. However, erm, I´m obviously a hypocrite in saying all that because if they released a pony with a spider for a cutie mark (not gonna happen, but still) and it had 6 legs, I´d go and raid the HQ asking for explanations for the lack of basic research, so yeah, I guess I do understand you after all ^^

I suppose snowflakes simply have 5 (10) points in Ponyville. Why would it be so strange ? They have dragons, and talking ponies, and magical zebras, so basic natural phenomenons must be different than ours too. ;)

I love things that don't make sense, including myself. Snowcatcher has to be one of my fav ponies around. My only beef with the G4s so far is only symbol on one side!!!! That really annoys me somehow, but the upside is, I spend less energy and acetone removing the symbols for customs. lol

I didn't notice her cutie mark much because I was peeved at the pink hair on a SNOW pony. Seriously, she's blue and snow-themed, so I think she should have blue and white hair! Ah well.

Since we have tons of snow right now here in Finland, maybe I should send "some" (how about a ton?) snowflakes to Hasbro, so they could rrrrreally take a close look of those nature's little wonders...
