Hi,

This is a Sailor Moon discussion thread. Feel free to talk about anything related to Sailor Moon in this thread.  :)  I have a few Sailor Moon things but they are all things that have been released in the last few years.  Here's a few pics.

It's pushed back to 2020 now... Also rather then a season of episodes, it's 2 movies to cover the dream arc.

They very evilly made sure I can't just get Haruka. She comes with two arms while Michiru comes with two stands and you can put them together for a beautiful couple display.
This is such a step up from the wonky Crystal style figures. I love the Chouette series. I hope we'll see even more characters now and not just the Moon family.

That figure of them is beautiful! They were such a wonderful couple to watch and read about when I was a kid and there were just no lesbian characters. I like how Crystal finally has them as the un sites couple that they are, but I’m afraid turning the next arc to a movie is going to cut out so much stuff. It’s a pretty large arc to just turn into movies. I’ll miss the actual series format. I enjoyed having it so close to the manga. While I loved the 90’s show my mom always bought us the manga so there was something left to be desired when you had the real story in comparison.

Merchandise wise HT has had some exercise shorts and a sports bra. I ended up with the shorts since the bra seemed like a lot. I mostly have SM stuff from the clothing lines HT and Torrid have released. I’m really partial to my wallet and purse I’ve been carrying around during the spring/summer season. It’s too hard to upload and post pictures here or I would.

They did release the rest of the old 90’s movies and season five part one in English. I need to pick up the season since I would like to hear the Starlights voices.

I have a super soft spot for the first 2 seasons. I would wake up at like 6 am to watch it. I didn't have cable so i really didn't see season 3 on tv. (although a family member recorded "the lost episodes" for me).

and after that anything else anime stuff I could find on the web was practically magical... (small clips, pictures, etc). I had to turn to fan subs to finish the series... haaa.. kind of crazy it's finally here legit now.

I'm not sure what to expect out of the movies. I'm a bit disappointed too it's not normal episodes. I do like the new character designs tho...

    Every year at my school, all the second languages make a video in their language. Since I’m in Japanese, we made spoofs of anime. I was in the sailor moon group. We wrote the script in What Japanese we knew, and made our own costumes! I was supposed to be Venus, but our sailor moon actor (he honestly had the best sailor moon impression) fell ill the week we were filming. So I got to take the role, as it turns out we have the same skirt size, and he dubbed over me. It was a lot of fun, and I kind of wish I had a copy of the video.

All of us who were little kids and still able to see them as a couple and not censored were truly blessed. I have a soft spot for the German dub and even prefer it to the original because they left them be lesbians and that was really rare for 90s German kids media.
Also love the voices in general. A lot of ~iconic German voice actors worked on it. One of them (Sailor Jupiter) died several years ago because of cancer and listening to her voice is so bittersweet now. For anyone who is interested in comparing voice actrors:

The German stock phrases for the Senshi (German: Sailor-Krieger, sailor warriors) are always samey. We didn't get as many attack names as the Japanese. Usually there'd be something like "flieg und sieg!" ("fly and succeed/win").
Jupiter's phrases translated would be:
"Power of the Jupiter mists, open up!", "Thunderstrike, fly!", "Jupiter - power of thunder - succeed!"

I have a SM wallet too. :)  I forgot to get a pic of it but it's blue with SM and the Inner Senshi on it.



I only caught part of one episode of SM when I was growing while I was waiting for something else to come on TV. A few years ago I saw several posts here mentioning SM and decided to give it a try. Walmart had the first Viz DVD set on sale and I discovered that I liked SM. :D At first I thought I only watch the 1st season but I've bought all of the Viz dvds except the Sailor Moon R movie. I've enjoyed most of every season and seeing Sailor Stars for the first time is really interesting.

I've also read a little over half of the manga. My bookstore doesn't restock all of the Sailor Moon manga so I have been literaly waiting for months for the next volume I'm reading to come back in stock.

Thanks Pokeyonekenobie. I checked my city's libraries and only one carries some of the SM manga. I also looked in to Interlibrary Loan and it cost $3 per item. One day I will find the next volume.  :)

YESS a Sailor Moon thread. Love the old and the new.  :heart: I am gonna watch Crystal now that I am on vacation.
I have SM wallet too, bags and small bags, and acceccories aswell. Love them, they are so cute.  I have a mercurius symbol on my neck, as I am born in June and of course, cause Sailor Mercurius. I want more SM tattoo's. Atleast one that has the moon, but I havent figured out what and where I want it.  :rainbow: :fox:

I lucked out and got to visit a sailor moon cafe while on a business trip last year. The art was redone to look more sanrio, lol.  I didn't like the humans as much, but luna was flippin adooooorable.  The cafe guy was like, oh you want a pic of the backdrop? Here let me move these boxes for you! And even tho the treats were all 'random character assortment', i got luna everything, soooomehow. Lol. Japan is great.

lol, pics aren't much, but you can see how cute the luna poster was. It was a really low-key cafe, haha.  I got some goods at the shop and enjoyed my decorated coffee while watching clips of sailor moon crystal on the big screen they had set up. It was nice, but not as over the top as some of the cafes i've heard about.  I really wanted to go to that mlp one they had a while back, lol.

Worth it just for the coaster and the place mat, even if I didn't care for the my melody sailor art style, lol.  Still cute. I'll tell you one thing, I am severely disappointed by the lack of cute capsule toys for sailor moon. it's all just tacky charms. I haven't seen even one of the awesome figures I collected last time I was here. even a cute magnet or something but no. *sigh* The quality stuff is all weirdly generic stationary stuff or cosmetics, and the stuff in my price range just isn't cute. I did see some really cute big figures a while back, but I can't afford them, lol.

I actually think that there is more affordable merch then ever O_o; (read: merch, not toys). I think finding the miniature tablet orgel at barnes and noble made my heart skip a beat.

That said, there is a lot of high range stuff as well..  but i think there's a healthy mix of both available both in the US and Japan...

Its not just sm on the dolls thing. Action figure dolls are a lot less of thing in japan. American toy stores have dolls for evetything, all the time, everywhere, but it's a bit rare to even see a doll with brushable hair, unless it's at tru or american made. They exist, Japan has Jenny and Licca dolls after all, but you just don't  have the market saturation we get in the states.　(non-bjd, that is.)

I've always thought it was a bit weird, given that there's basically a magical girl or some equivalent anime running all the time.  Figures you can find anywhere, but there is a distinct lack of dolls for little girls. I mean, the number of marketable costume changes in sailor moon alone means we would have gotten what five? Six maybe at least if she came from  the states, lol.

It makes sense to some extent. Sailor Moon crystal doesn't appear to be geared toward kids, so there are no kid products... but a loooot of grown up products instead.

but back in the day Japan at least had a healthy amount of SM dolls when the show was fresh. But there was also an extra surge of things when Sailor Moon World launched.. there was some kid stuff (at least shirts). Makes me wonder if the dolls were for kids or adults? But the live show dolls must of been for kids?

It's funny about the lack of brushable dolls, because the only brushable dolls i've ever bought for myself came from Japan (although most higher priced). Maybe just because the 80s/90s didn't have good plastic figures yet... just garage kits. I just personally hated dolls o_O and was only cool with it when it was anime related.

Which is pretty much why I want dolls anyway, for my kid. We haven't watched it yet, but she calls Sailor Moon Banana hair.

I mean, pens that look like the tranformation pens in the show and things like that are pretty and cool, but I'd like more stuff that actually has characters on it. The original manga is so beautiful, and I have never seen even a folder or post-it set that has a decently large example of it.

I do have a couple of lovely folders with anime art, but nothing from the manga. I wonder if it's a licensing issue?

The less expensive  official merch floating around is just ..not cute? It's very sad. I'm like 'I want to give you my money!' and all I have to choose from is tack.

There's a ton of fanmade stuff that's gorgeous though. I bought some of that stuff.  OH! and one of the artists from the MLP comic was selling mlp/sailor moon crossover fanart at tokyo comicon, I bought a couple of those. So cute!


and in random notes...I found a (non-Sailor-moon) doll with brushable hair at my local daiso this afternoon. It's the first time i've ever seen one outside of a specialty toystore, lol. Literally the day after I wonder what's up with the lack, lol....

Yeah, thats totally a fair judgement. It does seem like the most merch which tends to have the anime/manga art on it is t-shirts. (there's so many t-shirts o_o; )

I'm trying to think of things with manga art on it and I'm really blanking. The new shirts from uniqlo, for sure. The cute glass bottles from q-pot (which I have and love). The stuff from the Sailor Moon Exhibition probably had the most concentrated manga stuff merch.. that was so long ago!

This all reminds me that pencil boards are not at thing anymore. >_<; That was always a lovely way of collecting things.. and it they usually had great art.

God, it's one of my biggest regrets not getting those a long time ago. I just wasn't in a Sailor Moon phase at the time I saw them in person. And over 50€? Some of those puppies go for 100s... and the infinity one is like $1,500+

Also I don't even dare bother now because I know that there were fakes back in the day. I'd not paying out the nose for a potential fake.

Thanks to a very generous person I'm no longer missing the rest of the main Sailor Moon manga volumes. I will probably have to go back and read volume 8 as it's been a long time.

I saw a Sailor Moon Monopoly game at Barnes and Noble. It looks interesting but I can't bring myself to pay that much extra for a board game that I probably wouldn't play.

I know not everyone is in to anime character songs but this is the one for Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite and Kunzite by their Japanese voice actors for Sailor Moon Crystal. It has English subtitles. :) It's one of the few songs in Japanese I have on my iPod.

I saw a Sailor Moon shirt at JC Penny. It wasn't in my size though.

I mentioned this in the anime thread but will also post it here. There’s a rumor that the US will soon get a release date for Sailor Moon Sailor Stars Part 2. Viz posted a tribute to Ami/Sailor Mercury for her birthday and they used a clip from an episode that’s in the 2nd part of Stars.

Eeeeee! I just found a vending machine for little clear folders with Sailor Moon on them! There's 8 in the set, and I could not get my coins changed fast enough, lol. So funny, all day long, I'm telling myself, no,no,no put that back, you dont need it...but wave Sailor Moon at me and I'm all "take my money!" Haha. I used to have restraint....ok, that is a lie. I used to tell myself I had restraint, and now I dont bother. Lol!

Not yet.  I checked Walmarts in 2 different cities yesterday (we were traveling anyway).  Neither even had a space for it on their shelves.  I wonder if they didn't order it or if it hasn't actually been released yet even though it is supposed to be.  Maybe they'll get it this week?

I gave up looking and ordered mine from Amazon.

I'm beginning to think that Walmart might not have ordered it. :sad:  I know my store still had Part 1 of Stars and the Sailor Moon S movie on the shelves until they started remodeling a couple of weeks ago.  I did find the  Stars part 2 Blu Ray/DVD combo pack at my Barnes and Noble yesterday but they wanted $70 and I couldn't spend that much for set when I don't have a Blu Ray player.

I hope you get a set soon. I'm looking forward to seeing the final episodes. :D

Still no Sailor Stars part 2 at Walmart today but I was surprised that I found the new DVD of 2019 Fruits Basket part 1.  I'm waiting for Amazon to ship my copy of Stars part 2.

I'm excited to see Moonies who collect ponies as well! They're my 2 biggest loves since I was a child. Anyone super excited about the Eternal Moon figuarts? I screamed when i saw the prototype  :P I hope we get one for Seiya and Super Chibimoon one day. Human versions of the cats would be great as I love their designs too.

Seyia is my favorite of the Three Lights so far followed by Taki. I haven't read the Stars arc of the manga yet though.

I found a Sailor Moon Shirt at Target but it won't fit me.

We have a possible date for the Sailor Moon Eternal (Sailor Moon Crystal) movie.  It will cover the Dream Arc of the manga.  It might be released in September this year.

I have been rewatching the 90's anime.

I feel like some of the villains are pretty stereotypical, but I always loved Dark Lady LOL  for the short time she exists!

I'm up to the Dream arc in the 90's anime now.  :) It's really interesting seeing how much Usagi grows up from Season 1 to Sailor Stars.


My favorite villains are Jadeite, Black Lady and Saphir

Wheeee! Sailor Moon merch! Local conbini is doing prize lottery again, this time for SM! Yaaaay! So far i have been quite bad...but not as bad as I could be, lol.
I've won a Sailor Uranus keychain, a super cute folder set, annnnd, a pocket watch shaped like Usagi's Crisis tranformation broach! It was officially the top tier prize, but i actually want the next tier down.  It's a fuzzy blanket with original art....(grabby hands)

It's a real working pocket watch! Unfortunately, it suffers from the usual poor design choices as a lot of the other SM merch, and has a stupid plastic rhinestone on the front. Why???? Why do they ruin things. It would have been so much prettier with a glass one...It's quite solid tho, and I guess it's pretty cool. The inside is pretty, you can see it in the box photo. Still would have rather had the blanket though.

keychains and a random pouch from a different promo, lo. Neptune's keychain is much prettier than Uranus'. That color scheme is just meh, but I really like Neptune's.  They are quite well made. It's funny that I got them both...when I didn't really want either, lol. I wanted *any* of the others, sigh. I'll prob'ly try to sell them.

I am still shocked the first seasons had such abysmal budget and time constraints, I just can't bring myself to watch it again. I am glad the newer stuff is of better quality even tho I still think they don't emote enough. Pegasus looks sweet!

Based on the trailer it looks like the animation is better than what we’ve seen in Crystal so far.

 One of the things I really like about Crystal is that

Lawsons convenience store has sailor moon mugs! There are 2, and they come with a delicious white peach jello snack. 600 yen each....no regrets, lol! The mugs are mostly white, with a dainty design style. Solid and well made, too.

It still cracks me up that my parents tell me stories Lawson's chip dip and chip chop ham... or -- *point when driving* this was lawson's... back in my day.. blah blah blah.

and now Lawson's is a place people can get Sailor Moon. :I If only there still were some in the states, with all the Japanese goods. XD

I watched Sailor Moon Eternal part 2.  I think I loved it more than the 1st part.  Doing a 2 part movie instead of episodes seemed to help the plot flow more consistently.

The only thing I was disappointed with in the 2nd movie was

It didn't show Jadeite, Nephrite, Kunzite and Zoisite watching and worrying about Mamarou when he is sick.

I found a really cute Sailor Moon bank at Hobby Lobby Last Week.  They had one of the characters from My Hero Academia (the one with green hair) and I think a Yoda one also.


I'm hoping the new Sailor Moon Eternal  movies will eventually get released for Western audiences on Blu Ray/DVD.  I think it was released in Japan already.
