Meet Heartwood, the rose gold Valentine’s Day pony!

Heartwood is found at the center of a tree, and is the hardest part of the wood. But our Heartwood is quite soft, and exudes a quiet, peaceful sort of affection. His name is Heartwood because his symbol is a stylized cherry blossom tree, done in a watercolor-y style!

Heartwood is a custom My Little Pony created from a HQG1C sparkle base, and dyed in RIT Dyemore Synthetics in Sandstone and Super Pink, and has six (!!!) different colors in his hair, including three pinks! The colors are all from Dollyhair.com, and they are Sakura, Pink Sugar, Pixie Dust (all pinks), Peaches and Cream, Sunlight and Love Potion.

Heartwood features several highlights in gold thanks to dye resist, but because they didn't show up quite as dramatically as I hoped, I outlined a couple of the spots in rose gold paint - you can see it especially on his face blaze, and the hearts on the backs of his ears!

Here's some more gratuitous hair shots, just because I love his hair so much! ;)

Thank you all for the kind feedback!! I appreciate it very much! He was a labor of love, and involved a lot of firsts for me! My first attempt to use dye resist (hot glue) for parts of his symbol, which was a partial success!
I have some in-progress shots of him, which I forgot to share! Might as well add them now!
Pre-dye, pre-hair; so sparkly and white!

The first dye soak in Sandstone! I threw in some other ponies as well, including Glory!

Here's Heartwood and some friends - he was WAY darker when I first pulled him out of the dye bath! I was going to paint him a dragon companion and ran out of time - that'll be my next update!

Here's his mane finished, you can't see it but his head is tucked under there!

He's got hair! And it's LONG! I was really excited that I got a hair mix that was reminiscent of rose gold! At least until someone releases a real rose-gold hair color...! ;) (Hint, hint!)

Here he is all painted and sealed, but waiting for his hair stylist!

HA! He really is! When I was making him, I was like, "this guy is gonna have the longest hair, he's gonna have the biggest curls, he will be the most FABULOUSLY COIFFED big brother!" :lmao:

I love his hair! And he has the most beautiful name. It looks like you had a lot of fun with him: can't wait to see his dragon :)
-
Gorgeous colors and concept. Love the name, symbol, hair, everything! And thanks for sharing the progress pics too. It's always interesting how dying turns out, and this one is so neat!
-
I keep coming back to drool over this guy because he is just stunning. Absolutely beautiful work!
