Title: Healthy Pony is back with the 21 Day Challenge
Post by: Crowning_Glory13 on June 19, 2019, 05:12:40 PM
I just can't stay away from Healthy Pony. I love Healthy Pony as it did so much for others growth...in my progress I failed to look at my own growth. I lost sight on the main reason I do Healthy Pony.

I WANT TO BE A HEALTHY PONY!

So as the host of this I ask for only a few things.
1. Have fun and be positive. You choose to do this for you, and all you can do is your best. ^.^
2. Be positive towards others, and honesty is a great policy. If you feel it needs to be said go for! :) I can not count the many times someone was honest with me, and I was helped by it:)
3. Have fun. Let's create a forum of fun and friendship.

On to Healthy Pony!!!

I have seen many researches that state, it takes 21 days to make a habit. So pick a habit you want and see if you can do it for 21 days! If you make it GREAT!!! If not just think what you can accomplish for trying!

We officially start July 1st and go to September 30. About 90 days. You can start early, or at anytime!!!

To START:
What is your 21 day habit?

Just post your progress along the way!

Oh and for fun. If anyone completes their 21 day challenge, has to show in posts, I will send them a pair of wings or knitted item. *Their choice!

CG sign up.

I really feel I can do all of these 3 things in one day.
1. Knit
2. Play Piano
3. Be Active
4. Steps to be my own boss

Just post here your sign up and progression!

As always you can use this forum to do your own progress towards being a healthy pony. You do not have to do the 21 day challenge

I want to play, too!

Right now, my 21 day habit is doing my physical therapy every day, even when I'm exhausted.

Goals:
1. Declutter my closet!  I should only keep as many clothes as I have hangers for and the shelves should be accessible and only have things I actually use on them.  (This sounds like it should be a quick thing but I have a feeling it will take longer than I want it to!)
2. Do my physical therapy so I can get rid of the cane and brace.

3.  Think of other goals to work on.  :)

I have been working 60+ hours a week... just keeping myself going is a struggle.... not enough sleep, too much work stress, more Bill's to pay than I have money.... *sigh*

I will think of a goal because I also want to participate!  I have been thinking about all of you.

I just walked up 4 flights of stairs at work! So I did my ve active goal!

So far so good with my physical therapy.  I did it Wednesday and Thursday.  We'll see if I can do it tonight after work!

Haha, well I average at least 7000+ steps a day now. So fitness isn't really a goal, it's reality. Lol

I want to eat healthier. Eating well has always been a struggle for me due to my overactive sense of taste, but I need to at least /improve/ my diet and cut back on sweets. The concern isn’t so much my weight (although that yo-yos constantly), but the fact that my body is teetering on the edge of adrenal fatigue... which is bad.

Maybe this board will help me feel more positive about the changes that I need to make. :)

I want to join but I know I was a bit of a downer last time since I lost all my motivation and couldn't stick with it. Can I join this time too?

Everyone is welcome to participate. We I all have hard times...I DID TOO :) but that does not mean we stop trying:)

That's the best part. Not the ending but the journey to get there.

Completed PT both Friday and today.  So far so good!  I've sorted through the clothes in my closet and gotten rid of everything with holes or that I just don't wear.  That's the easy part done.  Now for sorting through all the boxes of things on the shelves...

Resisted the temptation to load up the cupboards with sweets when I made the shopping list today... So that’s progress. XP

Also went to the fuss of cooking a healthy meal yesterday, rather than just grabbing whatever was quick and easy. :) It always feels good to cook and share REAL food with the family... I’m planning to cook again tomorrow, and also get to work on my meal planner. ^_^

Count me in! :) I’ve actually kept up my stair climbing goal from the last healthy pony! ^.^ Even though it’s tough at first you can work to make healthy habits a part of your daily routine!

My two main goals for this round will be:
1. Ride stationary bike for 10 minutes at least 5 days a week
2. Track my food/ calorie intake everyday. No goals to meet, just need to get back in the habit of entering it!

Well change of plans for me. I am going to add a #4:)

I want to be my own boss someday and I need to start now in making that happen. So my #4 is to take a step in that direction. I am getting excited!!!

I have also missed a few days...oops. That just means Tuesday starts day 1 with a clean slate!

How is everyone else doing?

So far I've managed to do my Physical Therapy every day.  :)  I'm considering ways to get rid of my massive G3 accumulation because I only have a couple from that generation that I truly love and the other 400 or so (mostly rescued from thrift, though not in terrible enough condition to consider baiting IMO) are just taking up space in my closet.  Not sure if I want to put forth the effort of selling them or just taking them to the thrift store a few at a time so as not to oversaturate them.  Of course if someone wanted to come pick them up from me...

Congrats on keeping up with your goals, Pokeyonekenobie! I’m drooling at the thought of 400 G3s. XD You must have some awesome thrift/yard sales where you live. *o*

As for my progress... I cooked a healthy meal again today! :D Planning to do so again tomorrow. I stayed low-sugar as well, which is one of my biggest (and most important) hurdles.

I'd like to join!
My healthy habits will be staying in recovery, going to the gym 4-5 days per week and not biting my nails.
Goals:
1. Eat at home
2. List stuff on eBay
3. Get a job
So far, I've been working on a resume and just need a cover letter. I joined the gym with my Mom and we have a trainer two days per week and go do cardio 2-3 days on our own. Listed two things on eBay already and need to take pics of things as I decide what might sell best. Hate to see some of it go but I'm getting divorced and need the money till I get a job!

Welcome..with struggles comes joy!

I paint my nails consistently to keep me from biting. I also knit so it's a nice habit to keep my tension down and hands active. I promise you will find support here!

Great progress everyone!!!

So far I have knit and kept ok active. Piano is my hardest and I did not touch my goal if progress to be my own boss...BUT I did get myself organized and cleaned, so I start fresh for Wednesday

Congrats on keeping up with your goals, Pokeyonekenobie! I’m drooling at the thought of 400 G3s. XD You must have some awesome thrift/yard sales where you live. *o*

I've been "rescuing" them for years-since I learned I could customize them-and have since decided that a) they're not in bad enough condition for me to bait them without remorse and b) I don't think I could customize that many if I tried!

I've been good about doing my physical therapy every day.  However, when I went to my 3-month check the other day, my blood pressure was high.  It's been high since I hurt myself and everyone says that it's because I've been stressed and in pain, but it worries me so I have an appointment with my regular doctor tomorrow to discuss it.  I hate going to doctors  -_-  but I will be good and go so I can get this under control before it becomes a real problem.

That’s still a pretty epic stash of ponies to have found secondhand! I don’t see them often at sales. I have had a few epic finds at thrift/yard sales though, so I can’t complain. XD

Sorry to hear about the high blood pressure. :( I’m stressed a lot of the time (anxiety/panic disorders) so I often worry about that... And yes, doctor’s appointments are a pain... I always dread them, even when I know that I really need to discuss things with my doc. It’s just that whole hospital environment... It gives me the shudders. >_<;

Everyone is taking little steps and that's awesome!! I keep track each step I can! Slow progress but I know if I keep it in mind, I will progress towards my goals.

Hmm, I’ll try again this year since maybe I can do better this time around.

My new habits = progressing forward in a positive way to help with my chronic kidney problems. I’ve always had issues and lots of lower back pain. They thought it was possibly ovarian cancer or cysts but could never find anything. It turns out my body produces too much Uric Acid and as a result I’m always full of kidney stones. I’ve had two surgeries so far in the last eight months. One behind the lithotripsy which wasn’t a big deal, but another involved like actually going in there and it hurt. I’m on life long medication but some diet changes and such are also helpful so with that in mind
1) stick better to the foods I’m allowed
2) keep my water and fluid intake up
3) I joined the virtual Potterhead running club in January and have been doing weekly hikes with my huskies and walking at night. I fell out of the habit in June when I had surgery and then strained and pulled my back. I’m hoping to get back on the wagon and finish earning some of my medals.

Count me in!

There are a few habits I've been trying to establish with the help of my bullet journal, but I still struggle with some of them. Sleep routine is one... I don't think there's a way for me to fix that in the summer but I keep trying. Right now my priority #1 is to finish my dissertation and that may require me to work strange hours. Besides, I love the white nights... But sleep is important. Previously, I've been trying to go to bed by 11 pm and I always fail. Let me try another approach and aim for 8 hrs of sleep instead.

My second goal is to start running! I've been itching to do this for a while. I found a programme for 11 weeks that starts from zero and goes up to 10k and I think I'll try that - at least I'll aim for the 5k halfway goal! What makes it a bit more difficult is that I have aikido training a few times per week and I currently walk there (30 min one way). So that will jumble the schedule, as there are days you're not supposed to do any exercise, only rest. I'll have to tweak the programme a bit to suit my schedules and make sure I have time to recover. :) I'm planning to start tomorrow!

I realise summer is a difficult time for me to introduce new habits as there's always stuff going on, I'll be travelling a lot and that will undoubtedly mess up my eating and sleeping habits, let alone exercise schedules. But I still think it's a good idea to start sooner rather than later - it should get easier after July when my life goes back to normal.

My goal is to dedicate time to read for ten minutes every day! I used to be a voracious reader when I was little, but lost the habit later in life. I've already checked out some interesting-looking books from the library, so that's a step in the right direction!

Yikes before this officially starts I might have to update my goal to be to ride my bike once every other day instead of every day. The heat is making me so lazy and tired lately. I think that might be a little more realistic for this time of the year for me. :P

Oh yay, this is a great goal! I managed to incease my reading time dramatically last winter when I made sure I always had a book in my purse to read on the bus. For that, small paperbacks are ideal, though! The books currently on my reading list are all heavy so I haven't done much reading lately. :P

//Edit to add today's progress: I completed the first exercise, 5 min walking + 2 min running twice. Turns out it was almost exactly 1,5 km in distance. On the menu tomorrow is a 30 minute walk, then a day off.

With reading, that's my main problem!  I tend to get into very long, very large, very HEAVY hardback non-fiction.  And it's hard to keep that in your purse when you are using the bus!

I think I need to figure out what my goals can be.  I now have a job where I am outside frequently, I exercise a lot, we are fed healthy foods, etc. so making health goals is too much right now.  I need to figure out WHAT will keep my brain from just collapsing and not being able to function on days off.  I feel like I am not ready to challenge myself to say, "one load of dirty dishes or laundry a day" and that sounds TERRIBLE in the self-care department, but I just... can't do it.  I start folding laundry and then I get so.... tired.  And then I lie down for a nap.  And then 4 hours are gone.

Maybe a nap timer! Just tiny steps can help towards a goal!!! I love what I am reading so far. The drive, the changes as you learn, and all the positives!!! Keep it up.

Well in the official start I only knitted. Long work day today. 7am to 7pm whew. Might not reach 21 days I. All things

Well I’ve been slowly walking again at night trying to prepare my body to get back to hiking again. Also, since I took in a third husky I ordered a duo leash hook up so all three can go with me. I would get one for three but my young girl still has to wear her gentle leader.

My water intake has been a lot better

I’m failing in the food though. I either eat more than I should or go all day not eating. My appetite is everywhere.

Phew well I hardly managed to meet my goals for day one! I logged my food for the day and it’s just as I suspected. I’ve slipped up on my good habits and I’m eating way too much. I know that wasn’t really my goal but now I can at least keep an eye on it and be more aware.

I also dragged my sorry self to he bike even though I reaalllyy didn’t feel like it. :P 10 minutes isn’t so bad once you get going, it’s finding the motivation that’s the hard part. Here’s hoping this will help me keep it up!
Title: Re: Healthy Pony is back with the 21 Day Challenge
Post by: Griffin on July 02, 2019, 08:15:22 AM
I did the 30-min walk yesterday, and today's supposed to be my day off but nope, time to do some aikido instead! That also means 30+30 mins walking, unless someone can drive me home. (I really should get my bike repaired, it's only 12 minutes or so by bike...) I'll take a break tomorrow though, will be mostly sitting anyway as I'm going to do a quick day trip to Helsinki.

Minty_Magic, I know what you mean - finding motivation is the worst part! Whatever it is, it's usually not so bad when you just start. But why must it be so hard...

Something I’m finding motivating for going walking or running is Zombies, Run if you haven’t tried the app it has people talking to you giving you missions while on your run. You pick up items and try to escape zombies. It has a story to it and lets you use items to build on the compound your staying at. It’s fun.

Well... Today I finally took the plunge and lowered my caloric intake. I’ve been working on eating less sugar, and eating healthier meals, but cutting back calories has been the hardest part... I’ve been under a lot of stress, and I have an unhealthy tendency to turn to food as a coping mechanism. Today, and in the months to come, I’m trying to kick that habit. Even healthy foods need to be eaten in moderation, after all.

...This is the really hard part for me. This is a change I need to make though, and I’m determined to tough it out.

I've been good about my physical therapy, though this last weekend was really hard because I was so tired and disinterested in everything.  I guess that's what happens when your BP drops to 97/64.  I'm so glad the other doctor told me to stop taking that medicine! It just made me feel sick.  I'm feeling much better today, and I had way more energy at work and once I get home it should be easy to do my exercise/PT stuff.  I'm trying to figure out what foods I can eat (not fish!) on the DASH diet.  I get that it's vague to give people choices but some kind of "approved recipes" or something would be nice because I don't cook much and I don't know which recipes would be good and which would need to be altered to be allowed.  For lunch today I went to the store and bought lettuce, carrots, mandarin oranges, a piece of baked chicken from the deli and some lowfat cottage cheese and made a salad.  It was actually pretty good.  The cottage cheese (and possibly the chicken) had sodium in it, but I didn't use much so I think I'm still good for how much I'm allowed to have a day.  Not sure what I'm doing for dinner yet.

I really need motivation. I know what I want to do and need to do, but I. Just want to be lazy:p the day is done for me. But all that means is in the morning I will start mb asking a better choice.

I have 4 things on my list, and each day I dont have the time to do all. But I can do 2 out of 4. So I challenge to be motivated each day for 21 days!!!

Keep up with the great things!

I know I didn't fill in my goals yet but I have been trying to get at least 10,000 steps a day and all of my active hours. On my Fitbit my active hours are from 9am-5pm.  You have to take at least 250 steps an hour to get "win" an active hour dot. I got all of my dots yesterday and all but 1 today. :)

Well my eating is still outside what I would prefer. I put Myfitness Pal back on my phone. I’m getting my walking/running in thanks to the Zombie App. I’m only on mission three now, but it’s fun. I’ll see if I can do a morning and evening time to get more in.

How does the app work? Does it use GPS (like Pokemon Go) to track your progress? I’m looking for something that will help me get exercise without having to leave my backyard. XD

Same here! My biggest problem with Pokémon go was that I couldn’t just jump on a treadmill and hatch an egg or track miles. I don’t always have time to go to a park and walk around so that’s finally what killed my interest in the game. If there’s an alternative that works different I’m all ears!

Lately ive been doing the yes.fit app which is like a virtual race challenge where they send you a medal in the mail after you track so many miles. It doesn’t use gps so your miles on a treadmill or a stationary bike will count! I’ve really enjoyed it, but the only problem is every race does cost money. Most of them are about 40-60 mile challenges, which actually doesn’t take me too long to complete, so that’s something that I can’t do all the time. :( They do at least offer a couple bigger 100+ mile challenges which take me a while to complete.

As far as day 2 goes I did pretty good! I actually went to the gym so I got my bike in along with a few other exercises! I also managed to come in under my calorie count for the day, so that was good too! I didn’t really think about it but my 2 goals really go hand in hand. If I can work up the motivation to move I have more wiggle room with food!

Ok, putting this in here to make me think out my day.

1. Chores will be my activity...I have a few cleaning tasks to do.

2. I teach piano for 1 hour I hope to go early to practice a few minutes its small but a start.

3. Knitting is my reward at the end of the day. I can't sleep when hubby works at night, so I knit till he comes home.

4. Time to become my own boss. First stop my own page! I did a fan page, but I have noticed frustration limitations, so I am going my own separate page!

If I reach this I am allowed to buy yarn or a pony today. I will hopefully get all done by my lessons today. Just got to get motivated.

I am all about bribes:) I mean rewards hahaha:)

I understand about virtual running stuff. I’m a part of the Potterhead running club. They do a medal type race about every other month, and it does get a little pricey. I enjoy their big support system though through FB and Instagram. I’ve never had such encouraging people. I found out about this app through the group on FB for tracking and submitting miles when they do competitions.  There is a free version and a paid for version but the free one is what I’m using now and it has lots of stuff. Basically you put the settings you want with distance, time, etc and it also does GPS location through your phone or whatever your using. It has multiple seasons and episodes per season. Your work out session you can start up the “mission”  like the first one it had the helicopter going down and my character running to safety to this town but collecting supplies at a local hospital. It labels your character as a runner and sends them on missions for the town and has a story that goes along with each section. You can also set it to have a “chase” where the zombies follow you and you have to pick up the pace.  The items you get can also be used to build your little town and progress through levels. It’s fun since it’s a game but also something to listen to while you run. It has side quests and training modes as well.

Finally had nice weather for grilling, and made my spicy mushroom-kebabs! :D So good....

Day 2 of cutting calories... So far, so good. Slimfast helps, if mostly because it suppresses appetite.

I realised I've given no updates on my second goal, sleeping.

The thing is, it's not so much about getting enough sleep but trying to change the sleeping hours. My ideal times would be something like 00-01 am to 9-10 am. But I'd like to get up earlier so I can work normal hours even if not required to, so my aim is to shift my routine to 11 pm - 7 am. This is mostly because I like to keep my evenings free, otherwise it will be difficult to attend scheduled training sessions and such. And usually working after 6 pm is not very productive for me. I'm not a morning person, but if I manage to get up early enough, mornings are often my most productive time. All it takes is the willpower to resist the snooze button. :D Which I don't have. (Obviously it's because I don't go to be early enough, at least not consistently.)

Today I got up at 6.25 as I had to catch the bus...

My will power has not been great. In all honesty my motivation is my stuggle...haha who knew. I am at work and all I want to do is work on my side projects to become my income oneday... get home and i sit on my butt. The last two days have been a struggle due to not seeing my hubby for more then 10min between sleep. We work at the same place, but they moved us they felt he had better skills elsewhere. I wont go into detail but I feel at fault. So emotionally I just feel drained. I swear that is all I have is job issues hahaha.

But I just typed this and it gave me a spark. I have the power to make the dream true. And found what I am doing wint help...so after this post I am ready to get motivated. I still have my goals but I am adjusting my 21 day challenge. I am not always able to do all tasks, but I can be doing something.  Being on my butt from off work to sleep is not...like really I could be knitting! Haha

So my day 1. Be motivated on something. Today is kitty litter and vacume as I got behind and it needs to be done!:)

I love reading the positive that is coming through. The tracking is important to help towards great habits!!! We all have started on a great foot! Even me:)

Love healthy pony!

Day 2 motivation!

Feeling tired and head ach, but I did work on my facebook for sales, and knitted. I worked on some of my wings too.

I did not sit 100% on my butt and that's a win for me. Hope to add to my motivation.

Keep smiling:D

No good comes from over heating.

Ok....hmmm. life is busy...haha

So I have a music degree. Passion is teaching piano and voice. I have been teaching more beginners and not many advanced students. I actually have an advanced student and I forgot almost all of what I remember.....YIKES!!!

So I have to improve...like now! So I am going to change up my day. Trying for 5min a day playing. Lessons count. If I reach 30min a week I get $2...now that is small but in two weeks I can get those surprise ponies in the loaded balloon filled with confetti haha. Do really well I can get stranger things.

Sometimes fear and bribery can help become the healthy pony.

A bit back hubby and I won a cruise...and we might have it planned for Nov! So excited now to be swim suit ready!!!

So much motivation...I cant wait!

Blah. Life’s been crazy and I haven’t had time or energy to cook... I feel so unmotivated.

Diets always leave me with a feeling of great dysphoria... Does anyone have advice on dealing with that? It makes me sad that food is such a determinant of whether or not I feel generally happy. My weight yo-yos whenever there are stressful times in my life...

Yikes, I haven't posted in a long time!  I've been keeping up on my physical therapy (yay!) and I have been sorting through ALL my pony stuff so I can rehome the stuff I no longer need.  That means figuring out which G3s I have...which will take for-ev-er...so I can photograph them.  I wish I lived in a place where a garage sale was feasible.  But I don't, so I'll have to rehome them via the internet.  All part of the decluttering process...

I managed to eat well today, although I’m still struggling with that general dysphoria I get when I diet. XP I wonder if it’s something I should bring up to my doctor... It’s not like irritation or cravings... it’s more like a constant feeling of disinterest in my daily life. :/ Almost like depression, but much less severe than when I ACTUALLY had depression. Blah. I’m tired of dealing with it.

On a more positive note, I did lose a little weight.

I understand the feeling. I used to do miss America pageants  and yeah diets suck. When I aged out I struggled with weight as I didnt have the pressure....now I allow for rewards. First it was a treat. Fun size candy if I ate healthy that day. If I was doing really well I rewarded myself with a controlled portion of something I craved. Fast gets me a lot...fried haha so I could have a small french fry if I had a good week. I dont gave to reward myself as much now because I got used to the other foods. Now getting cherries is my reward:)

I need help with motivation. I start my day well and then become sad and lazy and not want to move:( any advice? I know sleep could help but that will improve after this week.

I am allowed to buy the stranger things pony, so I better earn it:)

You might be already doing this but what helps me motivate myself is when I wake up, I will make a clear set of goals that is reasonable in my timeframe and then set out to accomplish it! Say it’s weight for example, I want to loose 5 LBS in 2 weeks so I can make a plan for every day up to the last day. I also feel really satisfied crossing things off a list so...hope this is helpful!

Mostly, I’m tired of buying clothes, only to have them not fit a few months later because I lost or gained weight. I’ve been in constant flux since I was a teenager, and it’s really getting old. I love fashion, sewing, and costuming, so it’s very frustrating for to me to not have a consistent size.

Thank you for the support. :) Food-based rewards never end well for me, because I can’t have junk food of any kind in the house... or I will eat it. I like to reward myself with shopping instead. I’m trying to focus on the big payoff in the end, which will be a major shopping spree for new clothes that fit me well. :D

On that note... I’ve almost cleared the junk food out of the house. Now to KEEP it out of the house, lol.

I like the idea of making a list of goals! I haven’t done that in a long time, but maybe it would help me feel less “blah” about the whole thing. It might also help me feel better about the tougher, long-term goal if I had smaller achievements I could check off along the way...

Hi all, sorry I've been absent! I was travelling for a week so I had to take a break from running, but I probably took 10k+ steps each day so that should make up for it. (Plus we had to run through the airport to catch our flight, haha!) I did another 5min+2min x2 exercise yesterday and I think I can continue with the programme without problems. :)

The conference trip was not ideal regarding sleep either, I was sharing a room with a colleague and we often ended up chatting about everything until midnight. I'm taking some time off now, though, so I should be able to fix that!

I also like the idea of a goal list that you can mark off.  However, if you don't manage to mark off everything on the list, you're not allowed to feel bad about it.  Just accept that maybe some things took longer than you anticipated or you had other things come up that needed to be done.  Consider your list for tomorrow partially made!

Can you listen to music that makes you happy when you start to feel down?  If you listen to upbeat music that might lift your mood and your energy level.

Perhaps a 20-minute power nap would be helpful.

If you're relying on caffeinated drinks/supplements (sodas, coffee, 5-hour energy shots, etc.) for added energy, switch to ice water.  Caffeine works as a short term boost once in a while, but if you end up using it regularly, it actually makes you tired faster because your body builds up a resistance to it so you require more and  more to get the same effect.  Yes, quitting caffeine sucks (withdrawals always suck), but once you're over it, you probably won't miss it.

Also, depression and lethargy can be side effects of low blood pressure.  If you suspect you have low blood pressure or if you're on any medications that affect your blood pressure you might want to check with your doctor.

I definitely agree with the music  🎶 I actually play classical/ Baroque/Romantic  music ( I used to think classical was really boring) and it helped me feel more productive or if I need to relax. Taking power naps ( set a timer!) really help as well w/ productivity.

Well... I’m making an appointment with my doctor. My family and I have had suspicions about what the cause of my dysphoria and weight yo-yoing is, but I don’t want to say anything more until I have a proper diagnosis. It’s scary. The good part is that if I can find a medication that treats my symptoms, things will finally get easier for me... but I’m still very nervous and stressed out about the whole thing. :(

I ate well today, and stayed within my diet. It was a horrifically stressful day too, but I still managed to not use junk food as a coping mechanism.

I actually have lost 2 pounds, which is exciting seeing as I’ve been stuck at the some weight for a couple months now! That’s been some motivation keep to doing more active exercise! Pokey, I think we need to trade...hehehe:)

Sorry I have MIA. Just got super busy with work, teaching and family visits. Thank you all on the motivation tips. Now I am ready to calm down and really put the work in, I am starting to do my lists and goals again. I have a nice carrot to dangle. My hubby and I won a free cruise almost 2 years ago...haha it’s at the point of you use it or loose it. So I will be going on a cruise Nov/Dec time!!! The only draw back is no winter swap for me this year....I want to do one sooo badly.

But now I need to feel good about myself and get swimsuit ready!!! How’s that for motivation!

Looks like a move in in my future. The job my hubby and I over promised and under delivered. No details but being promised time off for family and a higher position and telling me it won’t happen later, no a company I want to put my time towards. Sadly there are no other jobs in the area. It goes super quiet from Sept -April...yikes. Let’s make my life more crazy.

On a fun positive note.

There is a huge flea market in my area Labor Day, Memorial Day, and 4th July weekend. A dear friend has a booth. I am going to prep my items for sale, and once I feel I have a decent amount, I am going to ask if she will let me share her table. I would do a fee of course and help with their side work. Nice to start and see what it’s like before I dive in. This will start 2020.

For me daily is to write what I need to accomplish that day. I am giving myself bonuses for the amount accomplished. It could be foods, fun, ponies, an excuse to have a lazy day...it’s what I feel is right. I am saving money, so if I choose a non money award, I get a better bonus later:)

For me...back to day 1:)

Nemesis I am sending good vibes and prayers your way!

I told myself I have a few rooms to clean today and a big tub to finish for some of the rats. I want to run tonight since one of the missions unlocked on the zombie app. I’ll have to see, as it’s 97 right now with a heat index of 108. It will have to cool off a lot so I can go in the evening. We will see how much I get done. I was out with my horse and after a shower I’m sitting here being lazy.

Also just a cheer for everyone, you can do it! Stay hydrated!

So I have a new found focus. I wanted to rush leaving the area I am in as the job I am in is not something I can stick with. Lots of trying and working. I am impulsive, so I wanted to jump ship like yesterday. The Hubble wants to move too, but not rushing like me...hahah I need him to keep me grounded. I do know we can rent this apartment to May or pay $1500 to get out of our lease.  If we stay to May we will pay well over that. So I want to save for it. So i am having a sale!

http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,381689.msg1576786.html#msg1576786

So now I have a good reason to not go junk food eating and my bonus with all I do will go towards saving for this! I have to find a job before we move (30min away from family vs 5 hours) I am keeping my lists going but my reward will be saving in case we need it!

I hope all is well with everyone:) I started out rough but each day is progress and when I post I really evaluate what I am doing with my time:)

I have been so bad with my bike. I only go on maybe once a week if that. :P But that’s okay because I’ve gotten back on track with recording my calorie intake every day! I was really high at first but I’ve found a couple ways to shave down my intake and I might meet my weight loss goal by the end of August if I keep up this pattern! :)

I've been doing my physical therapy every day and the therapist said he thinks I'm ready to go down to unofficial visits to check that my progress is good.

I'm also working on decluttering my room.  I pulled everything out, dusted and vacuumed under the heavier furniture and am in the process of putting things back in as I go through them.  The art supplies are the next part of that project and it's a bit intimidating but I keep telling myself that it will be awesome once I'm done.  And any art supplies I don't need anymore can go to my sister, who starts her job teaching art and music in middle of nowhere Wyoming this month.  I'm trying to finish this project before my parents get home from camping on either Monday or Tuesday (they weren't sure when they'd come home!) because I've taken over the whole upstairs.  I"m used to going through everything every 2-3 years when we'd move but since my dad retired, it hasn't happened and now I have so much stuff, it's not funny!   :drunk:

Once I finish rehoming the G3s, I'll have a bunch more space as well.  So many things to finish, so little time to finish in!

Well due to a very generous act of pony kindness there will be some contests coming to this forum.

So let's see some posts!

Here is the first contest. Post a goal you feel you can accomplish. Read a chapter in a week, work out once this week, knit 5 days strait...post more often! You choose the goal! Second post once you reach it! You reach it, a surprise comes your way!

My goal is to organize my closet. If I reach it I reward it with a pony soa day!!!

Oh and a pony photo contest will be happening soon! Baby ponies!

Still here! Work started back so things have been a little crazy. I’m eating better though.

My goal for this week is to finish earning one of the virtual medals I’ve started with Cassi (one of my huskies). I have to do it in pieces since my back has still been a problem.

Ooh this sounds like a great way to challenge myself to finally do something about the second goal I was working towards, i.e. fixing my sleep routine... My summer holiday definitely didn't help with this, especially as I've really struggled with lack of motivation and anxiety issues regarding the thesis. :( Most nights this week I haven't been able to sleep until 1 am or even later...

So, here's my mini goal for the next three nights: must be in bed by 11. Not necessarily sleeping right away (reading a book etc. is alright), but I must train myself to start winding down earlier and getting ready for bed. Ready-set-go! (I need to hurry, it's 22:50 already  )

Well I put my notice in to my old job....and they fired me. That is the normal for this industry. So I have 8 days.  Really going to use them to focus on my big goal. To work for myself one day.

My photo contest will be up soon. So get those baby pictures going and reach those goals!!!

My mini challenge was a total failure :cloud: Well not a total one, because I succeeded on the first day, the day I posted! But this was before I realised how late I am with my thesis (not even submitting yet, but sending it to my supervisors for their comments before the official submission...) and how much work I still had to do. Been working crazy hours for the whole week. But I'm determined to finally send it off on Sunday, so I'll have another try at healthy habits next week. :throw:

P.S. I don't recommend this to anyone. Be realistic when you estimate your workload and the time it will take!

Griffin that is a job well done!!! You may not have reached your ideal goal but you took a chunk for it. That totally deserves a reward!!! Reward yourself and PM me your address:)

So much to do Friday! Excited, to get myself on a good track...small steps

I've gotten most of my room put back together, just some odds and ends left to go through so depending on how my weekend goes, I'm going to work on that tomorrow.  I've also figured out a couple of paint projects so now I just need to push them through and get them done.

Aww thank you. ^.^ Sending you a PM. Getting this monster out of my hands will be a reward in itself, lol! But I have rewarded myself a couple of times today: got some tasty Indian takeaway for dinner (I've avoided spending time on cooking this week so it's mostly been microwave meals and such, meh), had a small nap, and then took the cats out for a walk - I really needed the fresh air, too!

Tomorrow I think I'll take a break at some point and go for a jog. :)

I found a 30 day workout challenge ap on my phone. It was fun. I did all of the day 1 exercises but not all at once. I feel it in places, but done feel too beat up yet:)

Now I need to make a 30 day piano challenge. I hope to practice Sunday, now that I organized things away from the piano.

I even confined my knitting...tend to get multiple projects going...like 7 projects at a time....I just unraveled a project due to mistakes made. So I only have a few and written down my new ideas so I have motivation.

Got the goals set and organized my plan...now to keep it up.
Day 1 for me!...again hahaha

Piano still needs the work. Knitting is getting on progression....I took a break from my 30 day. I was tired after a long day. Sadly I might miss a work out today as I work 9-4 and reach 4-7. I hope I can jump back in.

I'm curious, CG13 and others - do you use any kind of trackers to follow your progress or to simply keep you accountable? If so, what kind and do you think it helps you stick to the new habit?

I made a tracker in my bullet journal for running as soon as I started, mostly because I was going to follow the programme I found online and thought it would be handy to have it where I can easily consult it. I also added dates because I knew I was not going to be able to stick to the programme faithfully. Let's see how long it will take me to complete the 11-week programme. (Or the first half of it at least!)

However, tracking my sleep routine has been of no help at all... I've tried a few different ways but none of them motivated me to go to bed early enough. Sigh.

For work out the 30 day challenge is a free app I put in my phone.

I have written a list of what I want to accomplish in a day. I have a daily calander. I do allow not to always cross it out every task. Maybe writing a time down will help. My goal is 10:00pm if you lay to rest before or close to that time. It might get you relaxed as you are not fretting over it. You will see your progress might be better than you realize

Ponyfan

I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling with motivation... but it happens to the best of us  It's not easy changing your habits and established routines!

Speaking of motivation, I wonder if this (https://medium.com/@michal.korzonek/how-to-finally-stop-procrastinating-with-1-simple-journaling-methodology-6d7904337366) would be helpful (for any of you who are having issues with motivation/procrastination)? I tried it with my dissertation edits and found it helpful. Just remember to be very specific when planning your goals and the actions, and keep the latter manageable. You can always do more than the minimum, the trick is to come up with actions that are small enough so you can do them every day and feel accomplished even if you only manage the bare minimum. I'm a terrible procrastinator and I think this is a good way to break the cycle!

Log set. Day one very good for goals. My goal is to finish a hat. I knitted today, but not the hat. I feel it's an ok substitute...piano didnt happen....but I got a long list of much needed things to be done....wow Aug is almost over! And one month to go!

Might take the holidays off:)

Day 2 has been a struggle. My work was so cold...and I kept my coat on!!! Pants and tennis shoes. So I was dressed but the air was so cold my body is exhausted.

So the little procrastination chart helped. I just wanted to give up! But I felt forts to do one thing. So I did my work out...maybe 20min. I do feel like knitting so I am keeping ok track on my goals. Piano still needs the work, but I have a constant reminder.

Time to bribe myself. If I play 30min of piano, I get to do pony spa day or make wings with a new design I figured out.

I wish I had more time for Duolingo.  I think the only way I can manage is if I do it while I am commuting but it depends on if the app needs constant internet service to work.  Part of my drive is a bit remote and cell service goes out.

Thank you for the card, CG! :mail: It arrived just in time to celebrate my first half-way goal - I ran for 15 mins! Slowly, as instructed, but nevertheless. I don't think I've ever done that before. My worst memories are from Cooper tests at school, yuck. Ok...I had previously fall prey to my buy junk food addiction.

1. I can not keep more than $5 on my hand. I get paid cash for lessons, so it has to go into savings right away!!!
2. No purchase. The only exception is things to finish a project.

I have till September 30! If I am successful, I will be ecstatic! My reward is a better me! I know it's not like other addictions but it's a struggle I have always had. I hope I can kick this.

We have less than 30 days till the end. There is always an opportunity to try!

I hope I finish my 30 day work out challenge. If I do I will give myself a treat! Not sure what yet.

Writing out a plan for my September. A detailed plan. I always hear that people dont plan to fail, they fail to plan!

Here is to me having the best September!!!

Prize Goal!
1.What is your plan to have a great September! Tell me in a post here.
2. September 30 tell me in a post here all the positives!

Life has been nuts.  I have to learn how to hop as well on my bad leg as I can on my good leg by January but I don't have to come in for Physical Therapy check-ins unless I have questions.  I have my annual physical tomorrow, which I'm not excited about because even though I've been getting good blood pressure readings at home, every time I take my blood pressure while visualizing the doctor's office, it goes up.  But I'm going to a different doctor than the last one I saw so hopefully he'll listen to me when I explain what's been going on with my health this year.  I'm hovering around the initial goal weight I set so I am going to set my sights on the next one and in that way work myself down to where I want to be without overwhelming myself.

The painting project hasn't gone as well as I'd hoped because every time I make plans to paint, someone else makes plans that supersede mine.  I want to get it done by this weekend, though.  We'll see what happens...

Title: Re: Healthy Pony is back with the 21 Day Challenge
Post by: Pokeyonekenobie on September 20, 2019, 03:11:34 PM
Survived my physical this morning.  The doctor I saw said he didn't see any point in putting me on blood pressure medication because the numbers I've been getting at home have been really good.  Also, I took in the BP machine to make sure it was calibrated correctly and they said that it looks like it's reading high, so my numbers at home are actually lower than I thought!  So yay, one less thing to worry about.  Plus, he said that since the guidelines for my age are to check blood sugar every 3 years and cholesterol every 5, he wasn't going to stick me (especially since I'd just gotten blood work done 2 months ago and he thought it looked really good).  So I didn't get stuck with a needle or have to pee in a cup and I can eat what I want without worrying about it tweaking my blood sugar.  YAY!

Now to get ready to head to Big Easy Con in New Orleans the beginning of November.  My friend has a booth she wants me to help her with.  I may take a few small things to sell.

Oh no, what happened? I'm so sorry to hear this. Perhaps you were being a bit too harsh on yourself and tried to tackle too much at once?

LBS, congrats! But two full time jobs wow - how's that going to work out? :faint:

Sorry I've been so inactive. I haven't made that much progress myself though I haven't given up... I'm still determined to reach at least the 5k running goal. And it's basically only 1 week away, but I struggle finding time or motivation to go running/walking every day... I also feel a cold coming so it's probably a good idea to take it easy for a while.

My throw in the towel was more of the new job messing up what I could do. My goals were ok till then. So I gave up and started tinkering on what works and doesn't work....and a possible move in my future again...sigh. but I know it will be the last move...I pray it is.

I wasn't part of this but you wanted positives, and I do have one.

I read somewhere about a fasting type "diet". I put it in quotes because it's not honestly a diet, you eat what you like, but you don't eat anything past a certain time. For myself, it's 8pm. It works great for me. I usually eat dinner around 6 or 7, so there's no time for dessert or midnight snacks.

It's shrinking my stomach capacity, and I cannot eat as much as I used to. Therefore less calorie intake, therefore eventual weight loss. I've only been doing it about two weeks now, so no noticeable changes yet.
