Did you ever see a blond majesty?

Well, now you have! And two of them, at that.
I recently got these 2 strangers in on a lot of baity ponies for fixing up. I needed the pose for my project but asked for them specifically so that I could determine just what's going on with their hair.
And, it turns out, it really is original, not a rehair, and it really is that pale yellowish color. If you pull their heads off and look inside, there's a bare-minimum of pale pale greenish blue and the hair is machine-done inside.
Also notice the eye color. One has cornflower blue the other a middle blue but Majesty eye is always supposed to be purple. So it's odd to see that the eye will fade but the glitter won't.
Did someone do it deliberately?
Was it an accident?
Exactly what did it take to get the hair to do that? I've never once seen a blue pulled up all the way to odd yellow.
It won't last: I washed them (They were dirty too of course as is natural with baits) but the hair is super brittle. It crackles apart so you probably can't even brush it. It's thoroughly sun-rotted out & to do anything with them it would have to just be cracked off and removed.
But I wanted to show them before doing any customizing or the hair crumbles away because they are interesting to see.

Huh. I’ve never seen anything like that before.
-
 That's wild... What they must have gone through to end up like that...
-
I feel like she met a particularly strong brand of bleaching agent...O.O.
-
That is really bizarre.
-
That's so cool! Maybe a factory error???
-
I agree with Taffeta, yes I think they have been bleached also. Not great news for nylon hair.
Here's a list of the effect of various chemicals on nylon, I assume it's a reliable source. Interestingly it also shows the offect of hydrogen peroxide (not good) and mineral oil (fine)

I'm with Taffeta. The fact that the heads are discoloured badly while the bodies aren't also tends to lend itself to a bad bleach job.

I said it on the other thread, and I'll say it again here - something should only be categorised as a factory error or variant or something if there are good grounds for thinking so, and all other possible options are ruled out.
The roots of this one being bluish prove that it's not a factory error, and the brittle nature of the hair indicates extreme damage or exposure to some chemical or other (another reason why we should be much more careful with chemicals than some people sometimes are xD). The eye colour is also a giveaway that this is damage.
It becomes problematic if every odd or damaged pony is assumed to be an error pony because at this point in MLP proceedings, there are a lot of ponies out there who have seriously just been treated badly by someone in the past.
Maybe that's harsh or overly blunt, and it's not meant as a criticism to anyone. I also don't think the OP is really suggesting a variant, either. But I think it needs to be reiterated as we want to make sure actual variants are identified as such, but not muddled up by accident with damaged ponies, rehairs or customs.
It worries me how much we've lost in terms of knowledge in the past several years and how much more people are reliant on broad strokes information and assumptions without properly investigating the details.

Wow. That hair has been fried in a way that I did not know nylon could be fried. XD Too bad it’s so fragile... The effect is rather pretty.

Some of those match-ups are really interesting... I’m a little surprised by ozone, but I suppose it IS a powerful corrosive.

I was wondering what to do with my brown-spotted Majesty, this certainly makes for an interesting twist!
...I'm not going to bleach her or anything don't worry. :P
-
Majesty: I just want some blonde streaks.
Barber: say no more *does this*

...And then she went swimming, and her blond hair got the greenish sheen. I think we know now how she got this way. :P
-
Poor things. Her eyes fade quite easily in the sun.
-
She's gone bleach blonde. :) I feel like I've heard about certain cleaning products having this effect on certain hair colors, but I couldn't tell you which.
As far as eye color, it's always wildly inconsistent on Majesty. I used to pick up Majesty all the time in the late 90s and I don't think I ever saw two the exact same color, LOL. It can be anywhere from "true purple" to "true blue" and everything in between. I even had a few that had two different color eyes!
-
I also think the ponies have been bleached but Majesty does look pretty with blonde hair. I’d like to see someone do a rehair of Majesty in similar colors.

What a look! Too bad it comes with so much damage.
-
Is this due to the sun or bleach? either way, it looks kinda funny.
-
Huh, that's interesting. I really like the light blue of her eyes, but too bad it's due to damage.
-
Hydrogen peroxide can bleach hair, and blue hair seems especially prone to fading this way.
