Title: Cancer or Mold? Solution?
Post by: applejackSA on May 06, 2019, 08:21:21 AM
Hi there!

I am sorry to ask this, but I have GENUINELY spent time looking and have seen so many conflicting answers.

Could you please
1) tell me what this is
2) how to fix it
3) (most important) will it spread to my other ponies?

Thank you so much xx

Looks like an age spot to me. I don't think there's any way to get rid of them, as it's just the plastic aging. Therefore it doesn't spread either, but the pony may have more appear as the plastic just continues to age.

I would also second and age spot/cancer. Make sure her insides are cleaned out nicely and left to dry.
I've had ponies that their insides look atrocious and only have a few external spots. It's all about the environment they are stored in over time.

People call that many things- but it is probably just a spot where the plastic deteriorated.

It can't be "fixed" -  some people use that twin pines "remove-zit" product (or similar acne products) to reduce the appearance of brown spots like this on vinyl-  but the problem with My Little Ponies is that the plastic is dyed- so you will get horrendous bleach spots.  Also unlike the little brown spot, the acne cream CAN rub off on other ponies (even if the pony looks clean) and cause bleached out areas on other colored ponies that rubbed against this one...

All that to say

1) vinyl deterioration
2) can't fix it
3) it will not spread
