Black licorice, more specifically, salmiakki aka 'salty licorice'. My friend tricked me into eating it once and it was a nightmare from which I will never recover.
But if I have to mention one, the nastiest candy known to humanity must be liquor fill chocolates. Yuck!!

Yes, I can't deal with those! Coffee flavoured chocolates too!
Also, I can't be the only person who despises Parma violets...right?

Lavender flavored candy??

Woo lol, everyone I know loves them but I can't stand the taste/after taste XD I like the smell of Parma violets though...But if I have to mention one, the nastiest candy known to humanity must be liquor fill chocolates. Yuck!!

100% agreed, Parma Violets are the worst!!!
I'm also generally put off by any kind chewy sweet like Refreshers, Blackjacks and what-have-you - the texture is really unpleasant and they way they persistently stick your teeth is just plain unsettling.
However, being a renegade... I totally love liquorice allsorts. They taste really nice and I love how cheerful they look.
[slams fists on tables] black licorice! i hatee it!
also yes... parma violets... ugh. at school when they came up in variety packs of sweets people bought in on their birthdays, there was only one kid who would eat the parma violets... but lavender flavoured sweets can be good, just not as a primary flavour! i've had some very pleasant lavender fudge before.
Candy cigarettes and waxy vampire lips are pretty foul too. Can't believe I forgot those.
I loove Hershey's chocolate. Maybe it's because I live just two hours away from Hershey. Mm.
I dont understand candy that's primarily wax. Like the waxy vampire lips. Is that even edible.
Hershey’s chocolate!! Eeeeew.
Why is no one mentioning Circus Peanuts?
Ok there are some candies I don't like - anything COFFEE flavoured, ICK. Coffee is for drinking from a mug!i'm the opposite! i love coffee truffle and the like, and coffee cake, but i'm not much of a coffee drinker.
Other for me that includes sugar babies, those horrid black and orange mock peanut butter taffy, and mary janes.
those horrid black and orange mock peanut butter taffy
I think the manufacturers must have thought 'let's make a sweet that looks cute and fun and tastes repulsive!'
Necco wafers taste like dust...
BUT btw they do make awesome tiles for Gingerbread houses, just sayin

Actually, on the subject of awful chocolate, anyone noticed that the Pound shop now has their own knock off Toblerone? I wonder if it has that greasy taste/feel to it like the rest of their chocolate...:X
I bought cheap Sweet Peanuts the other day, and they tasted like plastic and had a strange peanut flavour to them, honestly they're up there with Parma Violets for 'Worst sweets'

Chocolate is not supposed to be greasy. What are these Pounds people doing over there?
I do dislike licorice (interesting enough, my favorite tea contains it though), but in Sweden we have this rockhard, salted licorice called djungelvrål (djungle roar) which is the most horrible thing you can ever put in your mouth. It is a sacred candy which is suppose to be put in the mouth and soften moist by saliva before you begin the chew on it. People eat it by the fistfull and to say you dislike it is like saying you eat children for breakfast. I can't even.. there are tons of videos of "Americans react to Swedish candy" on youtube and everyones reaction to djungelvrål is accurate in my book. Horrible, horrible, horrible *shudders*.
(I keep checking this thread in hopes of finding another liquorice lover, haha! )

I have not heard of most of those on the list so I voted other.

Anyway, the reason I put other is because the only thing I dislike more than licorice is liqourfilled chocolates and chocolates with raisins and cherries. Every box with chocolate around christmas is filled with triffles with rum, sherry or rum with cherries and I'm like whyyyyyyyyyy?! -_-

Exactly haha, it's disgusting and since they're selling it for £1 they buy cheap products to make it hence the greasy and cheap texture. :X They actually sell proper Toblerones in the shop so I don't see why need their own version for the exact same price.

Buying food from the Pound shop - something I admit I don't do because it's hard to buy food from a shop that smells weirdly like hamster bedding. I'm not being a snob. I'll buy other things from there. But not food. Seriously not food.
I liked lovehearts as a kid (but I think that's when you're meant to like them, because they're frankly stupid when you get older xD) Refreshers were better though somehow. I don't eat many sweets now (chocolate, yes, but not actual sweets) but when I do it tends to be old favourites like Starburst (Opal Fruits as I remember them)...
I kind of realise that a lot of the things I used to get in pick & mix are also a bit gross. Like flying saucers. I loved those as a kid. Thinking back it was like eating sherbet after putting it in some paper. Yeah. Well. Kids.
Tootsie Rolls
Palmers Chocolate
the gooey filled Cadbury eggs
(I keep checking this thread in hopes of finding another liquorice lover, haha! )
Another liquorice lover here! :silly:
I think the only liquorice I don't like is pure liquorice root, I've had it a few times but it feels like your chewing on tree bark lol
I really want to try salmiakki sometime, has anyone had it? Is it nice?

PM me your address and I'll send you some :) Salmiakki is what was referred to as salty liquorice above (including Beldarna's Djungelvrål). It's basically black liquorice that has ammonium chloride (sal ammoniac) added to it, hence the salty flavour. Most varieties of salmiakki are also flavoured with anise oil. But honestly, there are so many different kinds, it's totally possible to like one and hate the other... I can send some pretty basic ones that I like, they come in small boxes so shouldn't be too expensive to ship! ^.^
You know Taf, its not snobbish if you won't eat something that smells off. That's your natural senses warning you away. I have a very strong sense of smell. And even though its a pain sometimes, it's also a blessing.
I used to dislike black licorice, until I tried the Panda. Panda black licorice is awesome. Trust me.

Any candy that takes like pop is gross. Those Cola gummy things. Ack.
Circus peanuts. What were they thinking.
Candy corn. Why are they still making this crap.
I thought I was the only person that doesn’t like Toostie Rolls. I don’t like the chocolate ones or the fruit flavored ones.
Use Spangler Circus Peanuts to make a gelatin treat that everyone will love!
Lol I had to google it and I'm pretty sure I've tried it once, and I quite liked it! But it is actually salted I believe, at least it has this super salty flavour that is not found in all salty liquorice candies despite the name. In fact, one of my favourite ones is Pantteri ('panther'), which is coated in sugar, so quite a different experience!
(I keep checking this thread in hopes of finding another liquorice lover, haha! )
That sounds like a winner for being worst to me.
I also am not the biggest fan of licorice (except I like good and plenty so I can't say I hate it completely).. but when a local candy has drastic of a following either love it or else <.< Ya gotta think it's an acquired flavor.. yikes.
It kinda reminds me when I gave my highschool Spanish class teacher pickled plum candy... She was so shocked she spit it out in front of everyone ^^;

:X And here I thought black licorice couldn't get any worse.

In case anyone is wondering why European chocolate is so much better than American chocolate, it's because in America they add wax to it to extend the shelf-life.

'Murika!
Black Licorice 100% However, if you want Halloween candy that edible fake blood you get is gross all together!!! >_<
Canada mints. The pink ones taste exactly like pepto bismol. Nasty :yucky:
There aren't many candies I think are nasty, but the "dare you to eat it" type candies get my vote. Bean Boozled are the worst. :X :X :X

YwH, Bean Boozled is pretty bad. I mean, there's literally a vomit flavored one. And spoiled milk. And people buy them. O__o
I guess I could see that kind of thing being popular with 12 year olds (who tend to like "gross out" things) or maybe drunk college students?? Maybe??
Can you imagine having to taste test those as your job, though? Yikes.

I had to look up Bean Boozled as I didn't really know what they were. I've always thought Bertie Bots were groos but now that I know about Bean Boozled I think they're worse.
Ponyfan
Hard choice between Necco wafers and Peeps (worlds most over processed marshmellos). This list also needed Cirucs Peanuts I loved them as a kid, I don't know why I liked them because they are super gross!
Other: Those orange circus peanut soft chewy things. I am not sure how on Earth they have survived this long in circulation. Who eats those God awful things?!?
Oh my gosh too many things...
Licorice of all varieties
Caramel
Ginger
Toffee
Anything super cheap (the preservatives tend to set me off)
Nearly all 'candies' with a few notable exceptions
Milk and white chocolate
Peanut butter, especially when combined with chocolate
Ume
Anything spicy
Anything super-duper sugary sweet
(It might be easier to list what I do like tbh)
My dad seemed to like them? Perhaps it had to do with growing up in the depression or maybe he was an odd duck. I liked them as a kid but I certainly grew out of it!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates Peeps. They're sure cute, but definitely not tasty! I'm not a HUGE candy person either though so maybe that's why.
Also, I had no idea Jalapeño jelly beans were a thing. Or Jalapeño candy at all. Who thinks about making candy spicy? I know some people like it sour, but when I think about candy, I think about pounds and pounds of sugar.
