The next wave of playful ponies...*dramatic eye roll* - more of the main 6.
I am going to guess we are getting another "wave of 4" to be followed by a "wave of 6" and the wave of 6 will include the Sunset Shimmer and Applejack.

Urgh, how annoying for all the G4 collectors. it's like releasing Cotton Candy over and over and over again. No wonder I went off G4s! XD

I might be persuaded to by the Pinkie Pie but that is all.
In fact the only main six character i own is Pinkie. The only other two I have are Celestia and Luna. I do have some on my wishlist but not many.
I'm not an avid fan of FiM or G4s but I do feel sorry for devout fans of the show who keep getting repeats of the same ponies over and over and when a new pony comes along it is put in a set in which collectors already own most of the ponies (yep I'm talking about Minty).
I don't know what's wrong with Hasbro, even children will get fed up of buying yet another Rainbow Dash :huh:

How the heck is that rainbow power? At least put out the funky painted ones if you insist on repeats!!! Getting really fed up at Hasbro. Even if it was only 1 new single brushable pony per wave that would be better than nothing. But I would prefer more of course :)

Oh. Well that's boring. Why aren't they TAF like the bling bags? I see RDs eyes are back to that shape, I hope Fluttershy's will soon return to their original too. Not that I would by another one even if they did.

i think Imma pass on most of these cept the set.. i dont mind the repeats in the new set.. cus cadence and SA are the only ones.. and SA is different hes got his blue hooves so im cool .. and you get chrysalis, lyra, lyrica, DT and muffin.. ( i swear to god for her name they put a pic of a muffin so im justgonna call her muffin)... i dunno what im gonna do about the minty set.. get it and hock the rest on ebay i guess.. ::sihgs:; all those ponies and they keep beating us over the head withthe main ones.. I do want the big rainbow power rarity tho.. shes purdy

It would be nicer if Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy's wings were painted as in the vector art.
While I assume that the recycling of the Mane 6 might relate to retailers' reluctance to order waves without established characters (as occurs with Transformers and G.I. Joe) you'd think they could at least try to put new ponies in each wave. They seemed to be doing so well with secondary and background characters for a while. Oh, well, saves me money, I guess.

Yes! And I already got these on taobao, but I have a few of the alternate versions too. I like the crazy variety.
I do think Fluttershy was a boring choice. I liked the clashing colors of the other versions. Plus they went with the new open eyes. I think other versions had her older eyes...right?
I still wonder if Rarity will show up in clown tinsel colors too. But this moonlight version is very pretty. It's the best choice.
Where are Applejack and Twi?

LOL Same here. I bought the glitter ones off Taobao a while back and now they are in Target. I still want to get another set just so they are MOC. We are the same way. :)

I had hoped that with the variety they are pouring into the blindbags that we'd see more brushables. -_-
All I see here is more baits for making actually interesting ponies. I am on board with 'how is having a bunch of tinsel in your hair considered 'rainbow power''?? Although I don't like the rainbowey blind bags at least they are more interesting than this.

We wont get Twilight again in this size. She is in the Princess mould only now. As for AJ, I ll bet money that the next playful wave is this 4 again plus AJ and plus Sunset Shimmer.

I can't stand ridiculous amounts of tinsel and I'm sick of the Mane six.
That said, I would buy them all in a heartbeat if they were like the boxart.

I'll get Pinkie because I just need her (I'm a dork), but I actually like the tinsel colors in Rainbow Dash's hair. I'll save judgement on whether I'm buying them or not until I can actually see them in a store :)

well we already know that all hasbo is going to release for brushables is anotehr mane 6 charecter.. honestly how is this differnt frmthe LAST tinseled mane 6 other then a differet color of tinsel?
we already know all tehre gin to focus on is blind bags. i got the orignal fluttershy tinsel.. but hoenstly.. i see no reason to buy these.. when are htey goign to get the picture.. ?

That may be true but why would some of us want to waste our money on the same 4 - 6 who only had tinsel added to them :/ Personally not me unless i'm customizing this ponies... (well unless someone has the money to burn that is). I'm men because I'm looking for something new in the line, I even passed up some of them in target and bought a pinkie cooper doll instead XD Not even bothered with the EQG dolls

Huh, strange that the artwork is so different, and the ponies are so much...the same. I like the artwork of Fluttershy with the cool streaks, but the actual toy isn't different enough for me to want. Other than Shadow Dash, I haven't bought a G4 since last winter, when White Celestia came out.
On the plus side, with the exception of the Mrs. Cake bakery set, my wallet is safe. I've got more funds for my first love, G1s.

I might get Rarity, but otherwise I'm passing. If they're going to release nothing but the mane six as singles, they could at least spice them up each time (and varying tinsel amounts doesn't count to me.)

Even tho it is more Mane 6, I love the colorful hair streaks AND tinsel. I'm disappointed they don't have all the details the box art does but that can be fixed with a little paint. See if they are going to rerelease the Mane 6 I'd rather have stuff like this than paper masks. Tho I do wonder if anyone has seen any other ponies with hair like this besides these 4 and Applejack. For some reason I don't remember a Sunset Shimmer with this type of tinsel popping up. Maybe they will just add Applejack and double one of them?

I knew I had a good feeling when I started seeing multiple crazy/rich tinsel maned ponies on ebay :P
And i'm glad Fluttershy have a better eye... you can actually see them when they're opened :lol:
And I'm totally getting Rarity... can't pass up on her :lovey:
And shame they reverted back to the old version of Rainbow Dash :s

The Mane 6 have gotten such a basic look to them.... but add some designs on their legs, maybe a gradiant, and multi-colored layers in their hair, and add some colors to the wings of the pegasi... and they become AWESOME!
I can't believe the toys look nothing like the vector art.... :cloud:
I will not be buying these, though I do appreciate Hasbro adding some tinsel and extra colors to their mane and tail. But it's not enough to make me buy the Mane 6 over again for the 100th time... (Do you know how many Pinkie Pies I have!? -_- )

The first one has the wrong type of tinsel and the second one has Twi's hair color.

Enough with the tinsel and weird eyes!!! Please just give us new ponies that aren't all in a gift set surrounded by duplicates of the mane 6. I think Twilight needs to have her own kingdom where she makes new friends. That way we get new merch. Then her Ponyville friends can come visit at regular intervals or can be featured in their own story arches. Since Hasbro obviously won't make new toys of the HUNDREDS of other ponies in the show, I don't know what else to suggest.

I do really love the idea of this line, though. I just wish the actual ponies looked more like their box art with the extra designs and colors added to their bodies. Especially for Fluttershy - her box art/prototypes have such beautiful colors so I'm quite disappointed they just used pink tinsel in her hair. I do think Rarity looks lovely, however!

umm, pretty much everyone hates the 'new' eyes versus the old ones. I hate the old eyes. They looked too weird.

This feels like a particularly cruel marketing plan. Get near everyone bummed out with endless mane 6 singles, so that we'll throw our money at the more expensive mulipacks or playsets to get new ponies :/

Bore 7 here we come again. Unless they start dropping in new characters or more sets. Heck even one new character per packaged set, would be an improvement.
That aside, the tinsel or extra patterns on that Rarity are fine.
I can't imagine being a little kid and being faced with the same old same old. It would bore me to death. One can only have so many (insert favorite main six character) reissues.
Though please Hasbro, release those BB colored/rain something characters. As both BBs and brushables. Or heck BBs,brushables and EQ dolls. The line needs a fresh shot in the arm.

I don't like duplicates! But I might pick up a few. I really like the barrettes that some come with. Especially the cloud one!

I really don't see 2 colors of hair and 2 colors of tinsel to be a minor difference. If they slapped a different cutie mark on them everyone would be going, "yay new pony!" but I have a feeling there is going to be something that happens in S4 that is relevant to these ponies (unlike the stupid masks that didn't make sense).

I think it makes sense as someone here explained before ,Hasbro makes sure there is always Mane 6 available bacause there is new kids and adults as well becoming aware of the show ,they will want to get them before any other character in the show .
Just takes me back to my first ponies last year , It was the mane 6 who i got before anything else ,then the CMC and then Celestia and Luna ......then the rest follow :). so yes the mane 6 will be always be re re re re released for that simple reason:)
sad for collectors though we are always eager for new characters !

*shrugs* It works well for us G4 customizers, that's for sure. I don't feel guilty about baiting a perfectly-good pony if I already have her and she's plentiful on the shelves.

I think it makes sense as someone here explained before ,Hasbro makes sure there is always Mane 6 available bacause there is new kids and adults as well becoming aware of the show ,they will want to get them before any other character in the show .
Just takes me back to my first ponies last year , It was the mane 6 who i got before anything else ,then the CMC and then Celestia and Luna ......then the rest follow :). so yes the mane 6 will be always be re re re re released for that simple reason:)
sad for collectors though we are always eager for new characters !
There is a difference between "having these characters available all the time" and "only having these characters available". Having them as singles and in all packs is just overkill.
Also, these singles are one of the few things i can be sure of to get released in my country. I can't pick up Minty or Chrysalis or Wysteria or most of the new characters. So yes, it would be nice if they actually put some new characters in these single packs.

I am getting seriously sick of re-releases, and I don't even have all the Mane 6! I don't see the point in buying endless re-releases of a boring pose that I hate with minor differences or a mask...
I really don't see 2 colors of hair and 2 colors of tinsel to be a minor difference. If they slapped a different cutie mark on them everyone would be going, "yay new pony!" but I have a feeling there is going to be something that happens in S4 that is relevant to these ponies (unlike the stupid masks that didn't make sense).
I doubt that. It's way too early for that and they couldn't even bother releasing something related to their "crystal" forms. And yeah, a different cutie mark at least means a new character. I think it's sad that these days we need to get happy because "omg tinsel!".

I can understand the point of view of releasing the main 6 in each wave, but making them the only ones in those waves over and over again and not doing at least one or two new characters in the singles is just ick and a money saver to many of us. The problem is that while yes they are trying to cover the main bases for all the new customers but they seem to forget their biggest clients are returning customers who would like to see something different other than the same characters with new accessories or tinsel added. Shoot if they had MADE the main 6 in the clear I would have bought them because they were actually a bit DIFFERENT from the normal main 6 (I could do without the glitter all over the bodies but what can you do =/ and I may still go back to buy Pinkie in the clear from target but I'm not sure on that x.x)

So, let's say I buy these and take my buddy Mr. Xacto Blade to the tinsel. What am I left with? A nice, detinseled pony with streaks, or one missing massive chunks of hair? Pinkie seems to have orange in her hair and I see blue in Rarity's hair, but what ELSE?

I was a little bit hopeful with the release of Sunset Shimmer, but alas! Mane 6 all over again.
I don't mind the "always there for new customers" attitude, and I agree with it to an extent. Most kids are gonna want the ponies they see on the show, and I know I would have. However, I remember going to toy stores as a kid, and many times my parents wouldn't buy me something because I already had something just like it. Even with character dolls, their attitude was that one of each was plenty. So from that standpoint, I'm not sure how well this theory will work.
Plus, if the shelves are anything to go by, most people are buying the new characters only. Most places around here can't seem to get rid of the Mane 6 from a few waves back, let alone the new ones Hasbro keeps piling up.

I thought that recently someone from Hasbro said something about wanting to make the show and the toy line align with each other.
Anyways to be honest I think I like these much better than the original Mane 6. While I like their characters some of their color schemes are rather bland. At least the ones with one only one color in their hair. Especially when it is just a different shade of the body color *coughpinkiecough*.

Looking at the 'prototypes' (only because those are the only loose ones) I would say taking Mr. Xacto to the tinsel would leave missing sections of hair. It is hard for me to really even tell..

I think Sunset will be a slightly later release, at least the one with the gradient feet.. not sure but I feel like she might start showing up in every wave or even every second wave (maybe). I know when I was a kid mom wouldn't have let me get repeats of the same ponies and if I was a mom I wouldn't let my kid get repeats either, why? They would already have that pony/toy and I wouldn't have the money to burn for said toy =/

The tinsel isn't mixed in with the hair strands as usual, actual sections of the mane is just tinsel so that wouldn't work.

It does actually look different to normal tinsel.
It looks really messy though... if its -god forbid- harder to style than normal tinsel Hasbro need to reconsider what they're doing to the line...

You guys realize that if you stop buying these variations for your armies, and such, then the sales will go down and they will have to release different ponies, I refuse to buy any brushable or fs or rereleased ponies, especially mane 6.

but in all seriousness, im disappointed that there's no new ponies, the only really new ponies ive bought in 2013 were wisteria and SS shimmer. that's small, considering what they brought to the table last year. now its mane six 2.0 with RAINBOW GLITTER FUN!, and i don't like it one bit. -_-

I'm not a fan of the tinsel ponies AT ALL, but there has been some new ponies this year..
Crysalis, Diamond Tiara, and Lyrica are in the Fan Favorites set (as well as Muffin pony), and Twist & Silver spoon are coming out in the CMC set soon. Minty is getting her own set too, and DJ pony was the fair pony. Wysteria and Sunset shimmer are new for this year as well. I agree that they should release more singles than just the mane six over and over again, but I've been excited for a lot of different ponies this year ^.^

The unfortunate thing is... with wave after wave of nothing but Mane 6 playful ponies, a lot of collectors are turning to the blind bags and mini sets, because that's the only way they can get new characters. Plus parents are probably buying more blind bags for the same reason (plus they're cheaper). Then Hasbro sees that the blind bags are the only things selling, so they put more effort into the blind bag sized and less and less effort into playful ponies... it's a vicious cycle. -_-

Yep there has been new ones but only in SETS... I would have loved if they even bothered to release many of them in singles -_- Because I'm not willing to buy the sets for just one or 2 ponies and 3 to 4 I already have one version of...

Also, did anyone notice they come with a barette OR a brush, not both? I haven't been paying much attention to accessories for the last few waves but... is this normal? How are you supposed to brush these 'brushable' ponies' hair if they don't come with a brush?

You guys realize that if you stop buying these variations for your armies, and such, then the sales will go down and they will have to release different ponies, I refuse to buy any brushable or fs or rereleased ponies, especially mane 6.
Unfortunately we are not the largest percentage of buyers by a long shot. Their main audience is still little kids and as long as there are new little kids discovering the show who want the mane 6, they will continue to sell well enough that they can just pump out the same characters.

I have Rarity, yeah the tinsel is absolutely horrid! Its got a really rough touch to it, terrible idea since its not so 'brushable' either. It looks crimped and is about half an inch shorter than the nylon hair. I tried to play with her hair, ugh it just ended up turning into a mess! :(

I don't mind this set. I'm not going to be buying them, but honestly, with the new collector set and the set with Minty, plus blind bags, plus plushies, plus trading cards...I already want more than I can afford.
Frankly, it's fine with me if Hasbro keeps reissuing the mane six - they clearly sell to the little ones - and releases the occasional new character or collector set for those of us who don't want doubles of the main six.
I would like to see, at some point, brushables of characters like BonBon/Sweetie Drops, Spitfire, Soarin', Bic MacIntosh and Octavia, and I would rather see those than these, but my wallet tells me to give it time :)

Most places here still have the CE brushables (not the masked ones) so I'm thinking most people aren't interested in tinsel ponies anyway, or already have the mane six. Hopefully these'll be different enough to children that stores might be able to shift them? How many different versions of the mane 6 do Hasbro think they'll want/need? =/ Re-release some of the background ponies, Hasbro! *shakes fist*
I thought the Rarity with the different-coloured mane was really pretty but this new tinsel stuff just looks ugly :( Such a shame. If it were the mane 6 with "clown" manes I'd be all over that....

True but still how durable would that tinsel be in the long run XD I'm not a huge tinsel fan but I'm ok with it in small amounts. Tinsel is hard to style and I'm one who likes to curl and style most of my ponies' manes/tails and tinsel just doesn't settle well for me XD That's part of the main reason I would not get this wave (other than the fact I already HAVE the main 6 from the first wave)
Now I agree if the ponies had the clown color hair I would have gotten them but just kind of changed them to another pony without rehairing XD
As far as sets, I -do- want some of the brushables from the sets but I can't dish out $25 or more bucks for a set that has about 1 or 2 ponies I don't have and about 3 to 4 that I already do have when I'm only interested in the 1-2. I would go deeper into it but that is more like ranting than anything and I rather not go there :P

The tinsel is like a spiral tinsel. Still very tinsel flimsy, but in a tight spiral. I've noticed you can pull it straight into a longer piece. I can see it actually being more of a pain to style and keep nice looking. Which, really doesn't bother me because I don't style or play with my ponies, but I can see it really being a mess for anyone who does.

Except it won't die because at least this time around there is a highly entertaining show to go along with it. However they are too dependent on the show and if for some reason it ended the line would die very quickly unless they shift gears.

What are you saying Hasbro has "always" done? Choose six or seven character are re-release them over and over with slight differences each time? I don't know how long you've been a collector, but that hasn't been the case for the past MLP generations at all. In fact, this is a new marketing ploy from Hasbro that has only taken effect in the past five or six years or so.
Knowing for a fact that Hasbro employees read the Arena posts, I think it's quite understandable that we as collectors make it known what we don't appreciate certain aspects of the line, both here on the boards and by speaking with our wallets and not buying constant re-releases that we don't like.
I'm not saying Hasbro will listen to us, but I think it would be foolish to just give up, keep quiet, not voice what we would like to see change. Changes in this world don't happen if no one talks about them.
