Title: Fellow UK ponies, a question
Post by: Fezzy on January 22, 2012, 04:15:16 AM
Are you guys having trouble finding G4s in the shops too?
the only places I can find them are in big supermarkets, and even then it only seems to be the Mane 6.
My local Sainsbury's at home has filled what used to be the pony shelf with 'Zoobles' and the toyshop in town doesn't carry them at all anymore.
I'm a bit distressed about it to be honest :(

We were talking about this over at the UK ponycon forum, I think it may be just a post-Christmas slump. All the shops in Plymouth where I live have had the same few things for weeks but I was in Exeter yesterday and the toy master there had loads of ponies (Esp. the wave with snowcatcher, I forget which one that is).

However, our ASDA just got wave 3 blind bags and glimmer wings, and argos has added the train set and fashion style ponies so new stuff does seem to be popping up just in the last few days so maybe other supermarkets will catch up soon? I'm so excited about the blind bags! :D

Clearly I need to learn to drive, Asda's miles away *pout*

but yeah, all the shops I can get to have been the same since the summer, so I can't even blame Christmas

I did too when I saw them! We've been waiting soooo loooonnnggg! :O

I still need Honeybuzz too, Tesco had them in before Christmas and then they suddenly disappeared to be replaced by the travel ones! She was the only one of that wave that toy master didn't have yesterday, I guess she's popular. :c

I'm kicking myself for not buying the wave 3 and 4 ponies I need when my local Tesco stores had them, I kept thinking oh yeah there's like 5 of each pony I'll get them sometime when I have more money. The next time I go into Tesco when I have plenty of Christmas money to spend it's just got all the travelling ponies :( What happened to all the Dewdrop Dazzle, Honeybuzz, Snowcatcher and Feathermay ponies that were there for months?? I really hope they come back...There is a Smyth's toy store about 40 mins away from me and they usually have a variety of the waves but it's not too easy for me to get to what with me not being able to afford car insurance and all.

They're the only ones I've ever seen there too :( Do we have a price on the blind bags?

Supermarkets I definatley have problems with finding them....The Entertainter used to have quite a few; just after christmas they got the mane 6 luggage sets in (LOADS of them) but a week later there were NO singles left (I actually think that as they dissapeared so quickley, the store took them awat as opposed to them being sold) & there are only the balloon, Apple Bloom & Sweetie Belle & the RD playset left now, and they've been moved from their usual stand.

Yeah - I think the spread of the new wave is pretty woeful so far....its a little annoying that we seem to have skipped wave 1 and wave 2 - I have held of buying them online because I really hoped they would turn up somewhere but if the stores have gone straight to wave 3 I doubt we are going to see the earlier waves....grrrrrr

My frustration [and worry] with stores at the moment is the fact just about every tesco or sainsburys I have been in are stuck on wave 6 of the brushables - loads and loads and loads of luggage ponies and they never seem to reduce in stock quantity which is a sign they are not selling. I worry they wont reduce what they have in price and replace - they will simply let them sit their until they sell...is anyone else seeing this as well?

Nope....just continuous circles of the 6 main characters with their luggage! Its driving me crazy....

I just noticed I types Wave 6...I had means Wave 5

My local Tesco had more stock earlier than it did a couple of days ago. Same usual ponies though! Toymaster is the same (although it had about 8 Lily Blossoms!).

I'm hoping that if I go to the smaller Tesco near work they might have something a bit different.

I've also been disappointed with our Toys R Us - some shine brights but I don't want those.

It's weird how much it varies up and down the country. I've *never* seen Lily Blossom or Cheerilee in any shops here! :(

Wow! Our Asda only has the pony skipping rope :) we have ponies in The Range here - wave 3 singles :)

i was going to say i've seen them in The Range too, there were G4, G3.5 and some G3 in the one i went into! The Range is a weird store
xx

Cheerilee and Lily Blossom are the only non-mane 6 characters I've seen, and that's between Cheltenham and Stoke. The only places I can get to easily are Tesco, Sainsbury's and The Entertainer at home, and the pickings are poor. May make an expedition over to TRU next week but last time I looked there was barely anything, let alone anything exciting!
What's up with the distribution over here!

Near me I haven't seen any in any Asdas or Sainsburys at all, and only the massive Tesco Extra has had any out of the supermarkets (they've been on Wave 5 for ages though).

The Entertainers have had very few, mostly playsets. WH Smith have a couple but at extorionate prices. TRU has been my best bet in the past but the last times I've been to either they'd run out of singles and had only playsets or Shinebrights.

But I admit I haven't gone looking in a couple of weeks, I guess that situation might have changed. Might take a trip to Stockport this week, at least they have the decency to put all their shops next to each other!

I completely missed getting Blossomforth and Sugarcup, never even saw them in shops :(

Out pony shopping today I found quite a few... Tru has Twinkleshine and co while tesco even had the twilight sparkle with pink and green extra pony plus accessories in a cardboard castle for just £15 which I hadn't seen before.

That bodes well Mercynova!

I always forget about The Range, I might pop there during the week.

They do have ponies in WH Smith as well, but it was the usual suspects again. I need some for baits but they're still so expensive!

Asda here has nothing MLP apart from a sorry-looking dtrip of dollymix BBs that have been there forever. tesco and sainsburies went straight from wave 1 to luggage ponies. TRU is about 45 mins drive from me, they only had twilights balloon, and styling TS and Fluttershy, with loads of Ponyville and styling Starsongs :(

I really must have missed ASDA selling Blind bags... Are they with the toys or dotted round the store like Dolly Mix ponies were? I guess I will go and check out the big ASDA near me sometime this week now I'm back in Canterbury!

I found some in one of my local stores last night - they were scattered on the shelf beside a lot of Glimmer Wings - which at £7 [and some pennies cant remember what] wasnt a terribly horrible price.

I'm amused that Hasbro sent the blind bags out to Tesco first, yet Asda have once again prevailed and released them already :P

On topic, a lot of my local stores in town are lacking ponies.
The Entertainer has a small section (down the side, where no one can really see them) and only has around 5 G4 items in stock (2 of those being Pinkie's Train). Tesco, haven't been in lately, but my mother informs me there's nothing new. I couldn't see any ponies in Asda last time I checked at all!
Finally, WH Smith haven't stocked any ponies since G3.5. Having said that, they don't seem to have stocked up on any toys except Lego - Even Ben 10 seems to have diminished from there.

I can't deny that I hate January in England - Everything comes to a skidding halt to me :(

Tesco so far been the best bet for G4s for me...
My Asda don't even stock genuine MLPs, they do the G3 blind bags though..
Last I checked WHSmiths, they had ONE Twilight Sparkle for £6.99.

Toy stores are hard to find lately, let alone find ponies in!

The Range!!! I always forget about The Range when thinking about ponies!! They're actually pretty awesome for all the toys I love! Littlest Pet Shops, MLP, and Monster High!

I managed to find Feathermay today in the smaller Tesco near work. I had to root around a bit, but that means that I only need to find Honeybuzz now!

I popped into TK Maxx - not a pony or MLP item in sight anywhere (they seemed really low on stock to me) and also The Range - they had Blossomforth, Dewdrop Dazzle and a couple of Pinkies/Fluttershys etc.

I had a little success with Tesco, they've got blind-bag size ponies in the four-pack and individually, but no actual blind bags, and dozens of the mans six. I already have the three of those I wanted!

Wilkinson's are stocking ponies, including styling and singles. Still a bit sparse, but more in there as of late.
TRU is a weird, weird place. Stock varies so much from store to store, and I can only assume it's because stuff gets forgotten about/found on a regular basis and gets put on the shelves as and when.
I've also heard a few TK Maxx stores have had singles, but I've only found the Ponyville mermaids in mine.
I'd love to get to a Smyth's but there isn't one in Bedfordshire, and I don't drive, and the nearest Entertainer is a massive trek too. :s

It's all very much a treasure hunt, at least that's what I tell myself to stop me getting annoyed. ;)

You know, you'd think Tesco would have the blind bags, considering they sponsor the show. ^_^; I wouldn't have considered this to be WH Smith's cup of tea, though.

Wilkos has ponies? Will have to check my local one out tomorrow, but TBH all the shops around here are utter and total pants when it comes to stocking MLP so I won't hold out too much hope :/

According to Hasbro, they have the blind bags already - But when I was speaking with a certain staff member working there a couple of weeks ago, they informed me that they're stuck in the distribution center, and won't be released until late Jan/Feb as per their policies of clearing Christmas stock first :(

Interesting point, Sora. It's good to know that Tesco will eventually get the blind bags, even if it'll take a while. I've checked out two ASDAs so far, but have been unsuccessful. The only big Tesco around here is miles away, so I want some confirmed sightings of the blind bags there before I go.

As for other ponies, it's so strange here. There were loads before Christmas, but now, most stores only seem to have the luggage singles and some playsets. It's rather boring, really. I hope to see a few new things soon.

Here I've seen them in The Entertainer and Tesco, but not many. In my town it's even worse, few really oldies (well, wave 4 I think haha) in the local toy store, few luggage ponies in Boots and a lone Twilight Sparkle in WH Smith!

I'm going on a huge search on the 11th Feb though, since I'll be going to Bristol in the evening I figured I'll go in TRU and look around The Entertainer, Family Bargains and TK Maxx =D If I don't have new pony joy...*shakes fist*

I haven't even seen any blind bags anywhere! I only want the Pinkies =[

Has the styling Applejack been spotted in the UK?
I stopped by Argos on Wednesday and they had 25% off all the ponies but the carriages were 2 for £15.  They had Styling Pinkie, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle and I got two carriages and the train set.
