Thoughts? I'm hopeful. That baby mine song gets me every time.

It's a very engaging trailer. I'm not a fan of Dumbo but this trailer is touching and inviting. Can't wait to see the mom rock dumbo in her trunk.
-
i'm not gonna lie, this looks promising and I know I'm gonna end up watching it
-
Ah. I see this version features two random, precious children.
*crosses Dumbo off the list of movies to see*
-
I know I will watch it one day or another because I always end watching Tim Burton's film... but my first though is: how fake and ugly this elephant look. Sorry
-
It looks cute - I will definitely cry, Dumbo gets me every time! I love the drunk/dream sequence from the original movie it’s a classic.
-
Disney’s live action remakes are usually hit or miss for me even though I love Disney. I loved the Beauty and Beast live action remake but wasn’t interested in Maleficent, Jungle Book or Pete’s Dragon.
I know this is an early trailer but are the children replacing Timothy Mouse?

Dumbo looks unintentionally creepy.
-
Johnny Depp wasn't mentioned in the end, is he starring? (Please no)
I'm not too interested, I don't care for the children. I'd want to see Timothy the mouse instead. I will be interested in what the pink elephants sequence is.

I loved Dumbo as a kid and still cry every time. It's really hard to watch. But I don't know about this. Having "kind" humans might change the focus from him to them.
I guess thinking back to the movie, it's already really dark. We are talking about a baby too young to talk, alone in the world, an outcast and being treated cruelly. I wonder if they can even get away with that these days without watering it down.
-
I thought they might do a "hey, actually elephants hate the circus and it's really bad for them physically" theme, but instead it looks like we're going with "the circus is just one big crazy ~family~" theme, which I find annoying.
-
I've been dreading this release ever since I first heard they were going to do it. I have no desire to watch CGI elephants be beaten and chained. I give the original animated version a pass because of how old it is. In 1941, animal abuse wasn't something that most people were concerned about.
I don't like most Tim Burton movies to begin with. I esp have no desire to see how he would make a movie that heavily focuses on animal abuse. I have no problem with Disney doing dark movies. I love The Black Cauldron! But this is not a story that should be remade.

Yes, this. I was trying to post a comment here before but couldn't really get out what I wanted to say :/

I’ve always found the scene where the Ringmaster has Dumbo’s mother tied down and imprisoned in the wagon as a mad elephant when she was trying to protect Dumbo hard to watch.

I'm sure I'll end up seeing it...but Dumbo looks weird to me. The animation of him is odd.
-
Going into this I was saying no given how I've only like one LE movie (Alice In Wonderland). But this looked interesting in that unsettling but charming way. Though I will pitch a fit if Timothy has indeed been replaced. Also, please make new content. Don't follow one for one of the animated movie. If they're gonna do this branch out with new material sprinkled in. My biggest gripe with BATB was how close it was to the animated version or even the Broadway play.

That would be stupid and would annoy me so much. It was already evident in the Disney version that they mistreated Dumbo's mother and for plot sakes it has to be kept in there. But it has the potential to be Greatest Showman levels of reality distorting.
I think Dumbo looks very much like the cartoon. It's pushing him into uncanny valley but he still looks cute somehow.
I don't get the hate for the children. A bunch of talking CG animals doesn't work outside of The Junglebook or Lionking. Especially when they are just racist caricatures like the crows. I'd rather have two smart kids helping Dumbo than a jivetalking black bird named "Jim Crow" :lookround:
-
I fully support dumping the racist crows (or, like, keeping them but making them regular characters instead of cringey racist caricatures), but not Timothy Mouse. Talking animals would work fine, just like they worked in Babe, Homeward Bound, Charlotte's Web, and many others.
My feeling on the live action is . . . why is Disney so enamored of it? Why can't they redo Dumbo, or any of the others, as a new animated feature? An elephant with giant ears is so much easier to make 'cute' in animation rather than 'realistic' CGI.
-
Tim Burton’s doing it? Then I’ll pass. He’s horribly overrated and his movies all look exactly the same. Let me guess..is Danny Elfman doing the soundtrack?

Depp's not in this
