It's time to bring back…

The Avatar Exchange!  :good:

What’s the Avatar Exchange?

Years ago, Eviecorn used to run this fun monthly digital art swap, which went on for several rounds. I thought it would be nice to revive this exchange, especially now that most of us are still self-isolating! ^.^
 
Each round you'll get a secret partner (who you will keep secret until you reveal the avatar) and will have three weeks to deliver an avatar based on your partner's form. The artwork itself can be traditionally or digitally made, as long as it is turned into a digital icon ready for your partner to use. The exchange will run for as long as there is interest, and you can sign up for as many rounds as you like.

Dates:

Sign-ups:  now through Thursday, 28 May, at 5 pm EDT (9 pm UTC)
Partners Sent: between sign-up close and 3 pm EDT (7 pm UTC) the next day
Working: 29 May through 20 June
Final Posting Deadline: Saturday, 20 Jun by 8 pm EDT (midnight UTC)

I really only do pony art! I tend to be rather cartoony. I've made gifs before and could do some simple blinks or movement. I do like to experiment with color and such. 

Brief Character Description (Hasbro/OC):
My character is a purple earth pony with three toned hair (tan, orange, and yellow). She has a green seahorse as a symbol. Her eyes are also green. Her hair is long and covers part of her face (I usually draw it on the right side but it's not important which side).

I can do ponies, animals and people, toony or semi-realistic. My equipment for digital art is limited so I'll either do traditional or mixed media (scanned lines, coloured in digitally). Don't know how to do pixel art...

Brief Character Description (Hasbro/OC):
Aithne is a dun pony with dark brown legs, a white blaze, brown hair with dark green and yellow stripes. She has gentle chocolate brown eyes that reflect her sweet personality. She likes animals, books and art. Her symbol is a black cat curled around a Celtic triquetra knot.

The only thing out of the above I don't really do is animated GIFs and pixels^^'

Shailatte is a yellow unicorn, with pink to blue gradient hair. She has a nose ring/septum piercing. Her eyes are also pink and baby blue, and her symbol is a takeaway mug and bubbles, also in pink and blue.

Finally got everything put together! I may have gotten distracted planting pansies in Animal Crossing. ;)

I primarily specialize in pony art. Some of my art can be borderline anathrondepending on how I want them posed. My style is primarily toony and I can work in both digital and traditional mediums. :) I do not know how to do animated images at this time.

Brief Character Description (Hasbro/OC):
Sedona Dreams is my primary oc. She is an orange unicorn with fuzzy reddish brown hooves. And striped reddish brown/ and tan hair. As a character trait, she tends to have heavy/sleepy looking eyelids and bags under her eyes. Her eyelids can look “normal” depending on the expression! This is not a requirement or anything!

Not a big fan of overly stylized chibis. Primarily styles like Funko pops and Disney Tsum Tsums bother me where it’s...all head and barely any body. :P

My sketch is done! And I can't wait to start on the linework, even though there's still plenty of time - I'm sometimes awful at prioritizing stuff. :P

I thought I'd try doing the lines with my phone again, it seemed to work quite nicely with the adoptable. Then transfer it to my laptop for colouring. I can colour digitally using a mouse of even just the touchpad on my laptop, but drawing any kind of lines is impossible which makes digital art difficult. :D Previously I've just inked the lines traditionally and scanned them for colouring whenever I wanted to do digital. It works ok, especially for ooak art, but adoptables are trickier since you have to prepare different versions without changing the main lines.

How's it going for everyone? :)

Mine has all the base colours but I still need to work on the shading/highlighting. At the moment my biggest fear is that the picture will look too busy and unclear in the small avatar size, I probably chose too big a canvas for the original. But I'll see if I can find a workaround!

I’m at exactly the same stage, freak out over looking too cluttered included! :lol: I drew mine in a way if it looks too busy as is, I think I can crop it to still look nice as an avatar. I run into this problem a LOT when I make avatars, so I’ve gotten pretty good at workarounds!

 I'm afraid the small version did turn out a little bit cluttered >.< let me know if you want to adjust how it's cropped ^^' (I also saved a version with non transparent (white) background, let me know if you want that as well :lovey:

Noo it's not cluttered at all I love it so much!! :lovey: I love the scattered shapes around the edge too!
Griffin was my partner, here's a few options for the icon! I went with a sunset theme primarily but threw in the popsicle since it looked a bit plain.
