Please join us for a little holiday party! One game/activity, one contest, a card exchange, secret santa, raffle, Merry Treat host pony, space limited buy/sell/trading, and chocolate fondue fountain.

Sounds fun!! Great host pony choice haha basically the best option (another I thought of was Powder), now do we need a rare pony as well? I think earlier December would probably work better, because things always get crazy closer to the holidays. I'm not sure which yet though.

I think egg nog is a must! I could maybe make some grinch cocktails if anyones interested??  :cold:

I threw up a vote, but I'm fairly flexible. I've got no solid plans until the second half of the month at least.

What's in a grinch cocktail btw? Sounds fun! :D

Yes to Egg Nog! And Grinch Cocktails. I don't even know what they are, but they have the word "Cocktails."

I'm leaning towards the Friday, because there's usually not too much going on on Fridays- I can ditch work early, drive through the inevitable snowstorm, then hunker down with a glass of nog!

When you say Secret Santa, are you thinking like a swap where we exchange names, or like the mystery swap thing? I really like the idea of a name exchange, but then when someone can't make it, we're in a little bit of a jam. I've done ornament exchanges in the past--- maybe a possibility!

Given the choice between these two, I would definitely go for the Secret Santa! I haven't been in a real swap since Lincoln was born, and I miss them. Plus, candy!

I voted for the last Sunday, but any of those days would work as long as I have 3 weeks to let my boss know. And the Secret Santa/Pony sounds fun!!!! I also like the ornament exchange, or maybe that could be one of the contests?

I have in mind one contest only. Super simple- a coloring contest. I will create a line-art, and all you have to do it color it. And there will be a totally AWESOME award for the winner!! Either that or another photo contest. Which ever one more people will do!

I like the idea of hand-made ornaments, but based on the participation in the craft contest for the Big Meet, we'd only have two participants. So I think it might be best to make our more popular activities stronger, y'know?

Right now looks like Sunday December 11 is a front runner. Shall we lock it in?

Ashley and I are both in for whatever date- we've already started planning the presents we'll be making for everyone.
I am good with the 11th- I have a big family party on the 10th, and it wouldn't bother me to have the party on the evening of the 10th, after the family party. It's in Faribault, which is already halfway to your house, so I wouldn't have to drive north again, I could just have a really long day.
However, Sunday will work well, too. When the time gets closer I'll be able to let you know if Lincoln will be coming along so you can mentally prepare your puppies for some toddler fun. Like I've said before, whatever day it is, I will do my darndest to make it. I love you people, and I love ponies. That's all I really need.

A coloring contest sounds really fun- I can usually stay in the lines!

Any thoughts on the swap? This is the only swap I'm doing/have done for the last three years, so I'm willing to make the spending limit a little higher, something like $30. My limit is $50, I have to buy a present for my husband, after all! Can't spend all my money on ponies! Plus I'll want to make something, so the more time there is to customize the gift, the better!

Contests are MOST fun when many participate! Please vote for only one contest you are most likely to participate in. All are quite simple and do not require hours of creating art, craft, or custom.

I missed the whole vote thing :( Saturdays always work best for me. If it is on a Sunday maybe we could do it earlier in the day. I have to be up by 5:30am for work and my commute is at least 30 minutes right now without snow so who knows what winter is gonna do to my time.

I love the idea of a coloring contest and secret santa swap. Here is an idea.... since it is hard to have names drawn (unless people know for sure they can go) maybe we can all bring a santa gift and hold onto it then draw names once we arrive and place the name on the gift at that time. I am sure this could be done secretly :) An ornament swap is always fun too.

What about a sock swap? I am a huge fan of fun socks lol. They are cheap too. Target always has fun socks in the sock ailse and dollar spot plus there is always the seasonal stuff. Dollar tree carries fun socks as well.

Not sure what the beverage and food ideas are yet. I assume snackies. I like the idea of hot apple cider and hot chocolate myself.  Egg nog too even though I can't have it.

Sooooo excited. I need something to look forward too right now.

The main idea is to avoid all Saturdays, since they will get priority scheduling for family holiday activities. The last thing I want is for pony people to cancel once committed, because they decided to go to a different thing.  :cry: So Sunday December 11 it is, although I did tip it forward in the day a bit. It's a smaller party like the Valentine party last year, which ran ~4 hours I think.

The Secret Santa Swap will require commitment as well, just like if you were participating in a swap here- no drop outs. More details will be forthcoming.  ;)

I put it on the calendar! I'm actually really excited about the Secret Santa Swap, like I mentioned before it's been a long time since I've done one, and I miss them. I've been organizing the Pony Room, and I have the strangest doubles, so I'm interested to see what my partner's wishlist looks like.
Foxfire and I are both planning on being there. I don't know about anyone else, including my darling child. I'll know more the closer we get to the date.

PQ, are you still thinking of doing the swap? If we are, do you need any help? You know I have technology limitations, but let me know if there is anything I can do.
I'm only worried that there won't be time to do any decent shopping for a partner if we don't start soon.
If we decide not to do it, that's ok, too. I got a double of something awesome, so I've got something for the Dice Game that I think is pretty cool. Since we're a small group, there's a good chance of getting it!

I love Christmas, by the way. I just love the boogers out of it. There are Christmas Priority Mail Boxes available, and I just ordered them for work. We aren't even out of the ones from last year, but I don't care! We ship in Christmas all year! HoHoHo!

I've requested the day off, and it's right after the semester ends, so I will definitely be there! :)

And I shall be bringing Grandmas gingersnap leaves with me, because they are tasty and awesome. ;) Could also make a bunch of kiss-type cookies as well, if desired.

Please let us know what happens with the secret santa idea - sounds like a lot of fun! :D

I'm going to see if Blackfrost and her mom might be able to join us - if it's later in the day, then I'll have time to drive down to pick them up. :)

You can ride with me if you want! It might be snuggly, but we'll make it work!

Ashley and I are both in for the swap. She might not have a lot of ponies on her list, but I'll make sure she lists other things she likes- at least 15 options. I'll also post that list on here. I'll help her hunt for ponies.
My wishlist is always in my signature, and anything from there is good. I actually love ponies that have a little bit of quirkiness to them, though I also love a mint pony. I'm really hard to please! Hahaha! (All of that is in my wishlist. It's been there for years, I just keep changing it when I get something new.)  Do you want me to make another wishlist, or are more options better?
And I love home-made things and have no food allergies.

PQ- did you see that Foxfire is also planning to be in the swap? I didn't see her on the list.

I messaged MNGusty to see if she wanted to do a little kid swap with Lincoln and her kidlets. Are there other kidlets that might be there who would want to get in on that? I think Lincoln will be there- I think he can handle being good for a few hours, and he had so much fun last time! (thanks, Jeff!)

Hey, y'all! A work friend of mine had a kid a while back, and without knowing they were doing the coolest thing in the world, they named her Ember. So I need an Ember for her. If anyone has any for sale, I'm in the market. It doesn't matter which one, and I'm not too worried about condition, it's for a toddler!

I would say a short list of wish items, favorite pony(ies), likes & dislikes/allergies (ie food stuffs). Key is keep it simple.

Example
Favorite pony: pony 1 and pony 2
Likes: Chocolate, tea, puzzles, bunnies
Dislikes: Spicy food; + allergic to soy & treenuts
Wish items: G1 Baby Ember & baby pony accessories, mlp retro items, vintage merch

It's a neat game! Frenetic and fun! I've played it a few times at the pony parties in the pacific northwest. I only wish it could be done with a more eco-friendly material... perhaps post-consumer recycled paper or newspaper? just got confirmation that i'll be working the day of the party. bummer!!
there is still a good chance that calendars will be finished before the party though.
a lot of the pictures have been coming in, so i'm confident this year that we will have a calendar before Christmas at the latest.

Accessories: Baby pony bibs: white with heart and purple trim (3 to complete), any that are white with a butterfly (4 to complete); any turtle, lobster, or duck float for baby sea ponies; yellow or aqua snail rocker(s) (2 of each to complete, but I think they're out of our given price range); standard pink baby pony xylophone (Baby Fifi would like to jam with the others and can't); and according to my list I don't have any of the plain white baby bottles that came with the newborn/newborn twins (how the hay...?) so any of those are awesome too. MNGusty- I have two nieces about the age of your kids. I'm going to go directly against your wishes and make 2 packages, about $5-$10 value, and if you can't make it, I'll have present for nieces! Tah-dah! So you should tell me if there's anything specific, so I can have a little more fun with this. My nieces aren't fussy.
Lincoln likes trucks. Monster trucks. If the monster truck also pulls something, like has a hook or hitch, he is ecstatic. He like Rainbow Dash and Celestia, but doesn't seem to like ponies with hair- the all-plastic ones are his toys of choice in the pony room. He loves fruit snacks and suckers, any flavor. Oh, and we have a brio train set, so if you have extra tracks that you want to get rid of, we will give them a good home! (I would pay for those if you have lots of them.)

My favorite ponies are Glory and Firefly- they are best friends and I love pictures of them together. I also adore Pinkie Pie and Discord, but they don't have to be together.
I like prepper things, like society-crashes-what-do-we-do-now stuff. I like pony art and things that other people make, whether it is food or crafts or stories. And I'm a sucker for 1940's Christmas things. I just bought a tablecloth at a yard sale, it's got little Santas and deer on it! Maybe I'll use it as a table-covering at the meet! 
I love socks! And I will wear Christmas socks all year. Some people keep the spirit in their hearts, I keep it on my feet!

My question- pony condition. How fussy? If there are a few little cancer spots, is that a deal breaker?

Just let me know if any of these interest you- either cluttering the page or via PM. I'll be doing some price checks.

There are some that I will not be parting with- some of them mean quite a bit to me- but there are a lot of them that I just have in order to "get them all." 

Some that I'm pretty sure I will be parting with: Tutti Frutti, Kiss Curl, the Flower Ponies, Some of the Playschool and Schooltime Ponies, Romance Ponies, Cookery Ponies, The bedtime newborns (maybe?), the best friend ponies, hair-do ponies, sweet kisses ponies, great hair ponies, and if I have any nurse ponies or surprise newborns they will probably be up for sale, too. Just let me know if any of these interest you- either cluttering the page or via PM. I'll be doing some price checks.
Be aware that my pony room is in disarray, and this is a slow process. If we agree to a sale, it might be pending on "when I find her!"

I really shouldn't right now, but I really really want more ponies!!!!!!!!!!!! If there are some that aren't over $40, I'd be interested.

Answer to Scarletkitty's question- I like pastel and pink Christmas things or things like little Christmas trees to decorate a room for my ponies so they can celebrate Christmas too, otherwise I don't care much for Christmas things.  :blush:

I really don't like anything I can't fix because I love my ponies looking beautiful. So I guess I'm a fussy collector. I'd like to learn how to re-root a pony, but right now I don't know how and, like Ponyqueen, buzzed forelocks bug the heck out of me.

Treats I'm into right now: dark chocolate, toffee, gummy bears. I like tea- all kinds, but especially chai and herbals.

Aurora's Answers: G4- I still adore G4 merchandise. I can't help it. I'm a sucker. Especially if those items happen to have Discord on them- there's not much Discord running around, and I just dig him! Lincoln, by the way, loves Rainbow Dash and Princess Celestia. Every time we pass a poster on our wall that has Celestia, he stops and points her out to me. EVERY TIME. Pinkie is my favorite pony- good luck finding any merchandise with her on it! (Hahahaha!)

Animals: I actually love the look of snakes and spiders. They're so intricate and different than other animals. Not a fan of Jack Pine Beetles.
Candy: I'm not a fussy person. Perhaps you could score me some of that cherry chocolate fudge stuff.... mmmmmm.... I've actually sort of forgotten what it felt like on my tongue, I just remember it being amazing. I remember the feeling of how good it was, surprisingly good and sinful, but I can't remember the taste. Fun!
But any chocolate, any candy, I'm good.

Quick question.. seeing as my mom coming with me and she actually a pony fan. I know the Santas been selected but I am willing to buy a decent G1 Applejack for her.  If anyone might have one willing to give?  Or even anything christmas related/cat related.. she basically like me in likes but loves nightmare before xmas and not so big on Godzilla.. but puts up with her crazy child.   She loves cats and sadly Aurora family might not want to give up the two kitties they took in of ours ;)   pics be lovely though of them.    If this is rude of me to even ask I'm so deeply sorry..  I don't want to be totally out of line :(

I don't have any food allergies, aside from caffeine. Chocolate is good, but not nestle, as I'm boycotting them as best I can. Celestial Seasons has a honey-vanilla-chamomile tea that I'm rather fond of. Swedish fish are awesome; if you can find the "non-racist" variety (i.e., not all red), so much the better.

Christmas stuff is fine, though I'd prefer generic winter-themed. Fuzzy socks are excellent (I tend to get mine at the dollar store), as are fuzzy sweaters (2xl (I like oversized), thrift store is fine; that's where I get 90% of my clothes anyway ;) ).

I *think* that covers the questions? I hope so, anyway. :)

@Blackfrost: Don't worry Jules, I have something planned so she won't go without. :)

To answer the question about snacks, I would say if you have a favorite holiday treat you're excited to share, by all means! I just don't want anyone to get stressed about desserts and snackies. It's a shorter meet, just a party really.

As I mentioned, I'll have a chocolate fondue fountain, so I'm totally open to folks bringing dippables for that- bananas, strawberries, and big marshmallows work well/are popular. :)

As for the coloring contest!!! Here is a link to the coloring sheet! Please print one off if you would like to participate! You are encouraged to color before the party for the best chance of winning a prize. Everyone is eligible to play- members, guests, all. The grand prize will include pony, chocolate, and a trophy!!!

Good to know about Nestle. I guess I won't be buying that brand anymore. I also don't buy Hershey because I believe they still use basically child slave labor to get the cacao beans?

I have no allergies. I like cats, unicorns, and bunnies. I like Lindt chocolates a lot and love a good tea of any sort, though my favorites are green tea, floral teas or chai. I like G 1 mostly and a few g3 and g2. The only g1 I have is the squint pops cause I like that they can stick to stuff.

To be completely honest, I really do have mosiac tiles sitting around. They won't work for this project, though. They're really clunky, and have vegetables on them. I'm not even sure why I still have them- my craft room needs a little bit of weeding. Hahaha! Vegetable tiles, weeding! Hahaha!

Also I am thinking about bringing treats. I make amazing molasses cookies and have a recipe for chocolate covered cheesecake balls. Should I bring one or the other or are we good on treats pq?

Oh and are we doing buy sell trades at this party? If so I need to sell whats left of my kenner lps sets and still have many avail. as well as some pony merch, accessories and 2 bags of ponies! Oh and strawberry shortcakes

I've got gifts for both of them- does one of them already have the Twilight Sparkle Piggy Bank? I can switch it up for Fluttershy if I need to. Otherwise, they're pretty general bags of pony goodness. I also have a present for Lincoln, in case you can't make it, and you don't need to worry about getting him anything. It turns out it was LOADS of fun just putting together these gift bags from the extra things I've bought over the last few years!

Awww! He's gonna be so excited! Plus, KIDS! He loves playing with other kids! We live in the country, so it's sort of a red letter day when we get other kids.

Also, I don't really understand the question. Both cream cheese and molasses sound amazing. The only answer, much like PQ's "which cake would you prefer," is clearly both. :)

I have a family Christmas adventure the day before this, so if there are leftovers, I'll bring them. If there are not, I won't have time to make more. But I can definitely pick up strawberries!

My husband seems to think there will be a blizzard this weekend. I just looked at the weather, and though it claims there may be 1-3" of snow, it doesn't say anything about a blizzard. My plan is to keep watching the weather, and decide the morning of the meet if I'm willing to risk it. I'm not exactly brilliant about when to risk and when to stay home, so I'll drive through some pretty hairy weather.

If I'm not able to make it, I'll happily mail the presents that I've gathered, and the "cards" that Foxfire and I made for everyone. But as of right now, I'm hopeful for the weather to cooperate. I've been looking forward to this since September, when PQ said maybe there would be a Christmas Meet.

I'm going to pick up a case of Mountain Dew and Strawberrries. Is there any other beverage I should grab? I'm looking for something that travels well, so not a bowl of punch, please!

Maybe I will bring some of each depending on how the cream cheese truffles turn out. I have never made them before. I do make a mean batch of molasses cookies though.

Nimrodel- I have a pusheen tote bag and iron on patch I can bring. They were part of the summer subscription box. I need to sell them.

I love fresh fruit! And diet mountain dew :p

Letting ya all know roads north to Cities is plowed but the rest stops are not...  Kazzy, mom and me might be a bit late... cause Kazzy coming to grab me and mom.. and then has to return to her house cause she forgot to grab the gifts!  So she hoping to be there maybe by 1 or 2 or so... but we're coming!  Also in city driving becareful she reported 5 wrecks one on the exit ramp o.O'    Its Winter in Minnesota again!! time for the plows :>

Thank you, PonyQueen and Husband for hosting another fantastic gathering! I had so much fun, and I don't regret driving through a blizzard to get there!
I told my husband I'd gotten two more Discords and he laughed and asked how many that made- it's nice to know he pays attention enough to know I've got a few of them! He thought the one without the leg was pretty funny.

Butterflies nectar at the same wild flowers that hummingbirds do, so I use the same sugar-to-water ratio to make my own nectar. 1 part white sugar to 4 parts water.

I think the fluttershy BB is Foxfire's. She let Lincoln play with it, and he dumped her out of the truck.

AquaticNeon- he played with the storm trooper until he fell asleep on the way home. Later, he discovered trooper's tiny feet fit into the cab of the truck, so the storm trooper was driving the truck. Awesome!

Ok, yes, when I said it was mine, I was being a little dishonest. Hahaha!

Kazzelin- Lincoln has remembered most of the numbers he used to know- actually, he's learned three now, so maybe it helped him! Honestly, he was fine right away, it was just a surprise to both of you. Blackfrost mentioned you felt bad about it, and I am here to remind you that kids (like hamsters) are made of rubber. He was so tired, he had had so much fun, and he just needed a moment to cry and snuggle. I wish it was that easy for grown-ups!
