Title: ID/PC on this porcelain doll?
Post by: Squirrelypaws on August 25, 2017, 07:27:35 PM
I picked this doll up today at Salvation Army, and I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about her. :) Or at least, her head. XD

The reason I say I'm looking for info about her head, particularly, is because she appears to be a "Frankendoll"; her head and body don't seem to belong together. The head is marked "1998 DAG", and the body has a sticker that says "Real Seeley Body USA".

I did find some info on the body; apparently, it's a reproduction body intended for restoring antique French dolls, and could be worth quite a bit.

Her head, though... I can't find anything similar when I google DAG porcelain doll. Mostly what comes up are antique (or at least antique-style) "baby" dolls, whereas this girl looks like she's supposed to be at least a teenager, if not an adult. I wondered if she might be a celebrity doll of some sort; she looks familiar somehow but I can't put my finger on why.

She did come with a wig; long blonde with ringlet curls. I don't believe the wig is original to her, though, because it was only pinned to her head and there's no sign of any glue or anything on either the head or the wig.

you can read a little bit about her here: http://www.shop.dollsbeautiful.com/Sweetheart-Head-Mold-SWEETHEART.htm

Thank you so much! That does look like a likely match. :)

I can't seem to find anything on Ebay to get a price idea; do you happen to have any idea what the head might go for in "used" condition? She does have a small crack at the back of her head. I'm not sure if these come un-painted or not, but if they do, she's been painted (obviously :P).

i really have no idea, i'm sorry! i will ask around for you elsewhere.
DAG sells the doll Molds so that you can make them yourself, and she is still available for purchase, so i have no clue if having one done and painted and made is considered "good" or not.

Thanks again! :) If you know of a place to ask about price info, I'd much appreciate it. I haven't got a clue where to go.
