For the last 3 years, around my birthday, I have treated myself to a BJD. And every year I end up spending more than the last year. XD So I was looking last night, and fell in love with Aimerai's Sugary Wonderland "Weedy" doll. And I thought she was so cute and couldn't get over how she looked kind of familiar to me and today it hit me! She looks like Strawberry Shortcake! Her full super rosey cheeks, tiny chin, and freckles on her cheeks & above her nose! Even her outfit is similar. So that made me love her even more! I ended up buying her full set! :biggrin: She was also on sale at Mint on Card right now, $99 off! So that was a bonus! I bought the last full set that was on sale though. Someone is selling her full set on ebay right now. MOC does have nude Weedy's for sale still though and other Aimerai dolls on sale right now as well, if anyone is interested.

I've been wanting to buy one of the vintage remakes of SSC that have been floating around at Target and TRU but haven't yet because I hadn't figured out which set I wanted. But now I kind of have a BJD of her! :lol: I'll have to get her a SSC doll she can hold. that would be so cute! I also thought of buying her some pantaloons and geen & white striped stockings, (to match SSC) as well as red and white striped so those can match her striped bunny ears she comes with.

She does! You should absolutely get her! And her size is adorable; it's not the typical MSD size, but a baby-sized SD.

Yes I definitely will. Luckily MOC had her in stock so I should have her in a week or 2! :dance2: :cheer: Instead of having to wait like 2 months.

She is absolutely adorable! I would love to have someone like her join my family having spent my early childhood as obsessed with SSC as I was with ponies when I got a little older.

I will take lots of pics! :) Still no Weedy doll yet though. They haven't even sent me an email saying they shipped her yet. I guess maybe Monday they'll ship her. I bought her on Tuesday I think it was, or Wednesday. I'll have to think of a different name for her. I don't like Weedy at all. Something that is close to Strawberry Shortcake but not so long. What do ya'll think? Strawberry is to long too I think.
I loved SSC as much as ponies too when I was growing up. I had her little strawberry house & some furniture, Huckleberry Pie, and Blueberry Muffin. Oh and I had the SSC toy box too.
I hadn't gotten any of the new retro dolls yet because lots of them don't have hats. If you get SSC single she has the hat but not her cat and if you get any of her others you don't get her hat. And I wish the Blueberry doll had the same clothes as the vintage one I had and she needs the hat too.
I don't know if anyone has seen the retro Raspberry Tart & SSC set yet but I actually saw her at Cracker Barrel! Of all places! I hadn't seen her anywhere yet and saw her there. Is she supposed to be at TRU? And maybe she was just out of stock at my store. I didn't get her at the cracker barrel because her price was higher than it was supposed to be and I thought she was coming out soon and that I could pick her up cheaper at a different store. But if she's hard to find maybe I should go back and get her.

You could name her Berry or Berri (if you wanted to play with spelling a bit)
I haven't gotten any of the newer SSC dolls yet but I do need to get a few. All of mine from childhood are long since gone I think (moved around a lot and things don't always survive moves :( )
Hannah has my original Custard though and I was looking at it the other day and really all in all it's held up amazing for being 30+ years old, and I have 3 different Tea Time Turtles, though all of them have come into my collection in the past few years, it was always one of my favorite of the animal friends and I lost it fairly early on back in the day and for whatever reason decided I desperately needed one again so suddenly I ended up with three. 2 are the original kind and one is very different and hard plastic and to me looks a bit like playground equipment rather than an actual turtle. xD
I was thinking if I ever get a Weedy I'd have to get a small Pipos Pang to make look like Custard so Strawberry could have her friend.

How about Ichigo? (Ee- chee- goh) Japanese for strawberry, since I assume she's a Japanese doll (? I'm not familiar with the company. :P )

Yes, I also thought of Berry. I like the sound of it but it could also be a boy's name. Ichigo sounds cute too!
It is sad to loose your childhood collection. :( I lost mine too. My mom gave most of my toys to goodwill before I started collecting. She had found a few of my ponies though. And a couple Popples! ^.^
And I was thinking the same as you, TwistedRiver, about getting a BJD cat to go with her. I was thinking a Luts cat. I know Custard is pink but I'm not sure they would do a tabby cat in pink, I'd have to ask. But I had thought of getting the orange tabby anyway like the one below. (I have a couple orange tabbies in the past. They were like my babies) But if I got a Pipos one then I could go with pink resin and dress it up and what fun that would be!! I love that idea! Even though the tabby is adorable too!

I have a soft spot for orange tabbies too, I had a fur baby who was so attached to me that he used to root around in my hair hoping to nurse at night when I was trying to sleep.
You could always get one of those blank then get it face-uped/body blushed to be pink if you wanted to go that route.
After seeing it I'd be so torn between one of them and a Pang if I was going to do a Strawberry doll.
I'm very lucky because even though I lost so many of my childhood belongings over the years, I still have almost my entire childhood collection of ponies.
Whichever you decide I'm sure they're going to look great together!

That's so cute!
My first orange tabby, "Willie", used to sleep beside me too. Sometimes even under the blankets with his head on the pillow! Then when I'd wake up in the morning he'd be laying on my pillow kneading my hair with his paws. Trying to wake me up, I suppose. :lol: I think it would be called kneading? When they stretch one paw out at a time and then curl it back like they are trying to grab something with it, kind of.
They have a white bjd cat like that too that is cheaper, with face up. I had thought of getting that one with the face up and then try doing pink tabby blushing myself. I've been wanting to try doing body blushing and face ups myself. I've been thinking of getting a practice head to try and do a face up on too.
And 'Weedy' is supposed to be here Thursday! :biggrin: Found an email yesterday. Hopefully I will catch when they get here. I'm supposed to sign for it and we can't always hear when someone knocks. I actually go more by if my dog buddy is barking hysterically, to be able to tell if someone is here. :lol:

My orange boy was name Willen so funny that their names were so close!
I've body blushed/faced up two bjds so far, a Dollzone Scorpio and a Hujoo Nano Freya, I've got another little Hujoo that I'm waiting for better weather to come along so I can work on their face up.
I'm thinking my next doll when it happens will either be ordered blank or I will try and add to the faceup some.
I may have to snag a white luts kitty someday to go with my white cat collection.
So excited that you should be getting her Thursday! I know what you mean about the not hearing the post when something needs to be signed for, half the time we don't hear them knock at all, and even when they do half the time its like they knock and run. :P
Luckily most of our neighborhood is covered on foot so it's not too hard to catch up to them if we hear the knock.
