I believe Applejack is in El's room. I think that in Season 3, episode 3, that a blurry Applejack came be seen in the mirror when Max and El are talking.
In this video, its near the 10, 20, 24 and 35 sec marks.

Y'all may disagree with me, but if you think I'm right, I solved the Applejack/Stranger Things connection!
Maybe Applejack had more screen time, but all that made it to the final cut were these blurry images.
I asked a few people online if they agreed with me, but haven't heard back yet. I was afraid to embarrass myself if I was wrong, but the more I watch the more confident I am.

Huh. Could be, but her body is orange and her hair looks purple?
-
Yes! It could be it! The blue thing in the mirror!! Good eye!!

It would be the Stranger Things AJ, blue with very dark blue hair ^^

I think its a regular orange and yellow applejack, just she's so blurred in the reflection she appears to be an orange, vague, pony shaped object. I think the dark behind her you see is just shadow or something else behind her.

I thought of another more tenuous link...wasn’t AJ’s friend in the series called Winona? And Winona Ryder plays Joyce...I’ll admit, it’s a stretch XD
-
Wow, I never would have noticed that! I’m impressed.

Hey, Gator. I was out of town this weekend so this is the first chance I’ve had to look. I couldn’t say with 100% accuracy but it certainly looks like a regular Applejack. It’s the right shape, size and color. Good catch!
Too bad they couldn’t have gotten her in the opening shots of El’s bedroom in the first episode. I went back and checked. But that shelf isn’t shown. You can see the baby mask from the second season hanging there but not what is on the shelf.
You can see a few more glimpses towards the end of the first episode when Hopper is trying to have his talk with El and Mike. But they aren’t any better or more conclusive.

Huh, didn't notice that! Totally could be a regular Applejack back there, but I just assumed they picked her for for the ST pony because she is the only pony Dustin names when he's talking about "Firefly's Adventure" with Erica in the air ducts.

This was my first thought too, since she was called by name. But seems like this may be it, too..?

I think the reason they chose her to be used on set was because she was mentioned in the script by Dustin. And I think that the reason she was mentioned by name was because her part in RAMC ties in thematically with ST3.

I admit I somehow missed that. I'll have to rewatch that scene now.
-
I can't see the applejack, but I do see a unicorn on the right side of her dresser that I own ;p

Yes I'm sure you are correct- the shadow makes it look like she has some kind of purple mane and tail, but I think it is just a regular AJ there. Maybe there were some scenes that got cut that featured her more prominently. Still, that is def AJ.
-
I had the impression the connection was name/character recognition (since G1 and G4 AJ look about the same), as well as Dustin talking about her transformation scene in RaMC.
-
Is it the scene where Erica gets in the ducts to open the elevator? Or is there more duct travel later in the series? I'm only on episode 4 right now, but I don't remember Dustin and Erica talking ponies.
Edit: ok, I just saw Sunset's Erica video on youtube. I have not gotten to the Dustin pony talk yet, so I jumped the gun on the ST/pony connection.
Look before you leap, I guess. :lookround: :(

Man, good eye! Regardless of the Erika connection, that sure looks like Applejack on the shelf!
Edit: I think I also see a Rainbow Brite sprite?

^ Just figured I'd drop a screenshot. :/ I wonder if it's easier to see on a bigger monitor.

Oh yeah! That does look like a Rainbow Brite sprite up there! Although I am sorry to report it is definitely the 2018 re-edition (made in a retro style but not particularly similar to original 1980s toy). Which is ironic, as the cost of buying that guy from Hallmark.com was likely more than buying a used vintage sprite on ebay
I suppose a forgive-able sin considering it is almost impossible to even see him, haha
My guess is that AJ is also a Basic Fun AJ :D (although at least in that case they are identical)
-
and i reckon it is too a retro and they dyed her hair black  so its a hybrid between the 2 worlds. im going to stick to that :P until anything else emerges that might be more clearer. someone going to comic con should ask them :D
