I'm leaning towards the water started, although none of them impress me. But now that we've gotten those out of the way, I want to see more of the common Pokémon. I'm really hoping for a dolphin and a peacock Pokémon! Seriously, there are so many animals that have been left untouched. :(

Yay! I'm glad someone else out there wants to see a dolphin and peacock. I'm honestly surprised they haven't designed Pokemon after them already, but we still have an entire generation of Pokemon to see! :biggrin:
Yeah, at least we still have more to see of the starters too. I'm really curious as to what the water and grass starters will end up looking like. I'm probably in the minority here, but a cat-like starter just doesn't interest me at all, but I'm still anxious to see what it'll end up looking like.
Yeah, me either. We have way too many cat pokemon and very few of them have been anything other then decent. I mean I like cats but still.

Aww. It makes me kinda sad some of you guys dont care for Blaziken too much, but I can totally understand why. :). I adore Blaziken, and it's actually my favorite Fire starter line. I loved the fact that instead of a flying bird, we got a "butt-kicking bipedal firery chicken warrior". I may be a bit biased, because when I started Sapphire back in the day, my Torchic was a female from the get-go. I was so excited and happy! At the time I didnt know how rare that was, but it sure made trading for Pokemon easier since I had one. xD
Now, for dissapointing Starter, for me? That would be Snivy, followed in part by "Sceptile"(? - I love Treeko and Grovyle's look, but not a fan of the final form.)
And the more I look at Rowlett, the more I find it cute, so now I cant decide between that or Litten...unless I do that whole "get one starer, put it in PokeBank, reset the game, choose the other starter, and transfer back the first one so I can have both from the get-go." xD

I am choosing pokemon sun due to my zodiac sign is the fire lion so its awesome to see a majestic lion legendary pokemon I know that's a silly reason to choose a game as for starters I would rather wait to see the evolutions as for a new eevee type I would like to see a ghost type eevee to me that would be an interesting typing and I like ghost type pokemon.

Agreed, we need more pure flying types already. Otherwise I'd like to see bug or fighting type released with it. or a mega Eevee because normal needs to be able to compete with it's evolutions, stat wise.

I pre-ordered Twilight Princess HD online via Gamestop (because I wanted the OST, that I thought was going to be complete at the time. >.<), and it came to me the day of release.
I've only ever done that once, though. That was the first game I've preordered in like a decade, since I've never had any problem getting games since.

I've checked Amazon, and for me at least, they want me to pay for 2-day shipping if I want it day of release :P So, it's only like $8 extra, but...no.
I will pre-order from Gamestop, because then I can pick it up after work. It is handy to have in the next town over!

I'm super obsessed with Bruxish. It's based on filefish, which are one of my favorite fish groups. They are all interesting looking and they really do have a stupid little mouth on the end of that long snout. filled with RAZOR TEETH. Especially on the bigger species (like scrawled filefish) it's not something you'd want to be bitten by. And species like the harlequin filefish have crazy colors. I'm...kind of hoping we get a whole bunch of tropical fish pokes.
And I hear you Princess Lala about feeling like they're from another franchise...but I've felt that way since gen 2, ha.
Do you suppose if you trade in a vulpix or ninetails from another game they'll stay their original form or will they adapt to be the alola form? I'd like to have both fire and ice types on my team.
I love vulpix and minerals, but how lazy can you get? They couldn't make new ice Pokemon? They had to shoehorn in pre existing ones? That ticks me off as much forcing fairy typings onto old Pokemon.
I don't think it's lazy, I know it's lazy. More power to you if you like it, but it's plain lazy pure and simple. More like a palette swap Pokemon with a different move pool.
The dancing for Z-moves is an allusion to hula dancing, which is a major cultural device in Hawaii. They use it to tell stories, celebrate, convey messages, express feelings, and teach lessons. I've had the pleasure of seeing it live more than once, it's really beautiful. And yes, they do a lot of movements like you see in the Z-move build up. If you notice, each type has a different dance leading up to it; for electric, the trainer finished with their arms in the shape of a lightning bolt. Grass, they make a blooming or growing motion. Water, they move like waves. Fire, they make bursting and fast motions. I think it's really well done and clever. No no, it seems to be Fire/Dark. That's what's been going around. Game Freak aren't idiots, they wouldn't pull a Fire/Fighting starter out again.... they'd be drowned in player rage. But it IS going to be quite the bruiser, from the looks of it...
I think that only Gen 1 is getting Alolan forms so far because it's the 20th anniversary....They released RBY on the eShop after all. They're celebrating and refreshing the original games that started a whole culture.... It makes me happy.

Nope. I think the mega evolutions overall are mostly Gen 1 (go figure) but other gens had Pokemon represented in mega form for X and Y.
I do agree with everything else you've said though. Gen 1 has gotten more than enough attention, and while there's nothing wrong with it, there are 6 other generations of Pokemon to choose from. Gen 1 may have been the beginning, but there's no reason to essentially ignore the rest. These Alola forms are really neat and I like most of them, but I want some diversity!

Oh, I see - I was wrong. I wasn't 100% certain.
I do remember the Generation I's being the ones advertised - hence why I only even remember there being Generation I Mega Evolutions in X/Y. I really thought they all came with OR/AS. Hopefully we'll see the same kind of thing happen here - advertising heavily Generation I, but the later generations will still see at least some representation.

There is now. The newest video has Snorlax using a special move, it's actually quite funny.
But yeah, the Gen 1 pandering is real. It makes me sad. Like I've said before, I guess I get it because it's the 20th anniversary of Pokemon this year, but they should honestly focus on all gens and not just one if they want to celebrate the entire franchise (kinda like how each month a new legendary is featured and they've done them from different gens). If we just get Alola forms of Gen 1 Pokemon and no new mega forms or Alola forms for Pokemon in other gens, that'll be disappointing to people who aren't huge Gen 1 fans.

Popplio's looks cute, still my favorite of the 3, but not by much. All of them have pretty forgettable names, though. I'm not expecting much from their final stages, plus the middle stages are always the worst, no matter the gen.

Never saw that movie. It's just the "bow-tie" and hair flip thing made me think of a stereotypical hipster.
Those are okay, just forgettable. Which I guess is what I really mean. IMO, middle forms are middle forms for a reason- they aren't meant to stand out. Same goes for middle forms of non-starter Pokemon, for the most part.

That doesn't bother me. In fact, I'm not sure I like the design of the female trainer. It's mostly her hat, to be honest. I think it looks stupid. I just hope the trainers can be customized like in X/Y. That would help, I think.

I haven't see all the Alolan forms yet, but they seem to be getting worse and worse. Losing hope for my ghosty Paras/ect (already given up hope on other generations being included, so I won't bring that up).

I've now seen the starters final evolutions and I'm going with Popplio. Jay is choosing Rowlett and Shawn (my brother) is choosing Litten. So that worked out well. They both took one look at Popplio's final form and went "Nope.". :lol: I'm not upset that I'm not going with the grass starter. There are tons of grass pokemon I love, so filling that spot will be easy.
Oh, and look more Gen I pandering! Poor Leaf. People who played FR/LG and chose Leaf mean nothing to Gamefreak, because it's always Red this, Red that. It is funny to see him grown up, though.I think its awesome they are brining back all the older gen opponants. Seeing Wally made me happy, he is doing what we all hoped to see!

Rockruff can be found in the Ten Carat Hill, which is to the west of the professor's lab. It's only accessible after completing the trial and everything on the island.

Funny story about my Popplio too. I thought of restarting for a female, but that intro is soooooo long and not worth going through multiple times, imo. So I named my male Popplio Frank N Furter. If you get the reference, I love you.
Hahaha! I love it! I was going to do a couple of restarts, too, but aside from the intro taking so long, Bank isn't set up so I could set my starters aside to put them all into one game. So I guess I'll wait until I can get the other starters through a trade (or do a bunch of long boring restarts in January). Though, I do prefer to raise my Pokemon from lower levels to higher ones myself instead of trading for higher level Pokemon. And one of these times I want to do a game where every Pokemon is named after a corresponding Disney Character. I already have a female Froakie named Tiana on my Y game.
I had a thought. Is it possible to save right before you get your starter and then if it isn't the gender you wanted, restart from there? Perhaps that would help some of those wanting a female Popplio.

I was on Gamefaq and someone reported that saving inside a poke center can sometimes cause your sprite to become invisible and leaves you unable to access the menu or anything else. It doesn't seem to be a very common glitch, as only a few people have encountered it, but I thought I'd put it out there just in case.

Kinda like the Lumiose City saving glitch from X and Y. Hopefully they'll patch it up if it's a persistent problem.

Wow, they did that? It's a very annoying rpg mechanic, but well I guess it's good for extra leveling as long as it's buddies don't wreck your team.

That's a good theory. Calling for help might definitely help in hunting for shiny Pokemon.

Perks of working at a library on a college campus: There aren't really any students around since it's the day before Thanksgiving, and I actually had today off for the start of break, but my boss told me I could come in and get some "overtime" hours (overtime is nearly impossible to get at my job). Because if it does, you could just continuously knock a wild pokemons HP down and let it call for help as many tines as possible over and over in hopes a shiny appears at a higher rate. I want to test it out now since im a patient shiny hunter maniac! :P

Yup. This is the new chaining method. Seems most people get a shiny somewhere between 75-150. @_@ I don't know how they keep it up that long. My chains tend to break at 30. Makes me realize that none of my Pokemon know defensive moves.
Bring lots of ethers and leppa berries for this method. It takes quite a while. I went back to egg hatching because I felt this way took too much of my attention to do lol.
I'm up to 4 boxes of Rockruff, nothing yet. If I could do 2500 Fennekins in X...this is just the beginning. At least you get eggs WAY faster in this one since you can just send eggs to the box.

The idea of Hyper Training is cool, but I REALLY relied on Super Training for my EV training. I was big into EV training. I am not really sure if it helped. My Pokemon always get their butt kicked. But I still tried. The old fashioned way is just tedious. I am not sure how I feel about this.....
I just got myself to the third island, I've been grinding because I don't want to finish the storyline too fast! Thus far wonder trade has been lame so I'm waiting til they open up pokebank for sun/moon to use that again. GTS is still wonderful as always :D I'm loving it so far, even if they are ripping off Yokai watch in places. I know it's more of a competition over there than it is in the states.

So how about I found out my husband has the same night off as me and we are both playing Pokémon! xD We both went up to the grocery store (which is an Asian mart at that) and got all kinds of Japanese snack and are both playing! Totally nerding out right now! So he is looking for Bagon on Route 1 to SOS chain because they have than small chance of summoning a wild salamence, I made him jealous because I encountered a wild Umbreon! So far I have 3 HA female eevees, no shinies yet.

Lily is my new FAVORITE omg lemme tell ya! I decided to cosplay as her next year for Akon since she looks like me but with blonde braids and a sunhat! Cosmog is super duper precious omg I cant wait for his plush to be released!
Stufful is definetly there on Route 8- my husband has quite a few of them actually! "Neopolitan Bear" he calls it haha! I just asked him and he says to use the item honey.
Finally picked up Sun today and I'm ready to join you all in Alola! I'm glad I waited because I got to get the bonus Solgaleo figure with my game. Though, I'm most likely selling it or space reasons...
I'm going to start playing tonight, but after realizing the birds change form and effectively all have the same moveset, I need to change my dream team around. Now I'm thinking of Rowlet, one or two dancing birds, Mimikyu, Popplio, Oshawott (breaking my new Pokemon only rule, but I need one in in such a tropical region :lol:) and I haven't decided on the rest yet. Probably some neat 7th gen bug Pokemon.

I also randomly got my first shiny Pokemon in this gen! It was a little Lillipup. The only thing different about it was its eyes - they were green!
Gen 7 definitely delivers on bug Pokemon. I literally love all of the new bug types this gen. :lol: Ribombee was on my first Elite 4 team, and she's kind of a glass cannon but still awesome. Grubbin/Charjabug/Vikavolt is also great, and there's Wimpod and Dewpider, both of which have badass looking final evolutions. Two of the Ultra Beasts are even bug/fighting (Buzzwole in your game), which I think is an awesome typing. Of course, the UBs are post-game stuff but all the other bugs are available pretty early on.
Ooh, that's good to hear. Thanks Renia! I'm still in the dark about a lot of Pokemon, and was afraid it would be like Gen 6 where there was only one bug type line. I can't wait until I run into all of them! Are the UBs like legendary Pokemon? That makes me especially happy since, outside of Genesect, bug types were sorely lacking in that department.
I'm only on Route 1 so far, but Rowlett is so dang cute! I really need to trade for a Popplio as soon as possible too, I was this close to choosing it as my starter instead. I love the new grooming feature. :lol:
I would say yes, that UBs are sorta like legendary Pokemon. Although there are a few of them that you have to catch multiples of in order to progress in the post-game story. You'll see. :) But yeah, I'm super excited about all these bugs types. My husband said he's proud of me for finally embracing my love of bugs in Pokemon. He's always been a big bug-type fan, so this generation is just what he wanted. :P
I love Pokemon Refresh! I miss the little games you could play in Pokemon Amie, but I like that we can at least groom our Pokemon. I also like Poke Pelago, it's so cute to see the little sprites of my Pokemon playing around plus it's neat that wild Pokemon can just join them on the island and decide to hop in a Pokeball and stay with you (I got a Scyther that way!). Yesterday I sent my Pokemon on a mission to find some stones on one of the islands and they came back with two Sun Stones, an Everstone and a Fire Stone!
If you're still that early in the game, you won't have Poke Pelago yet, but I highly recommend using it once you have access to it!
I'm intrigued, but want to pace the adventure and not rush to the end. Definitely want to see these UBs though. Welcome to the creepy crawly side!!! I don't know what is is about bug Pokemon, but they're so much fun.
Oh yeah, I miss the mini games too, it seemed easier to feed your Pokemon that way too. Though, I guess it's a fair trade off, and there seems to be other cute ways to interact with your Pokemon to make up for it. I still keep wishing they brought back the option to have Pokemon follow you, since there are so many running around.
I can't wait until I reach Poke Pelago then. I'm currently at the trainer school and Ruffles is still my only Pokemon so it will be a long journey. :P
Also, more compliments to the game, I really like Hau and Lillie. I've barely made it through any story but they have so much personality compared to the Gen 6 rivals. I really love Cosmog too, it looks like it came from a Kirby game. :lovey:
Understandable! My husband and I got the games the day they came out, and I was able to finish the game in almost a week, but I didn't rush through. My husband hasn't finished yet, but he has less time to play than I do. I'm enjoying the post-game though, I'm currently training up a second team to take with me to the Elite 4.
I'm also still wishing for the Pokemon following you feature to come back. I actually brought up last night how there are so many Pokemon just wandering around in the games now, that it'd make perfect sense to bring it back.
I actually got kinda tired of Hau, but I love Lillie. Seems like most people like Hau though, but my husband and my friend both feel the same way I do. :lol:

Yep you can catch it without it breaking its shell, but keep in mind hunting all the colors is going to take a while.. especially if they decide to use Self-Destruct before you see what color it is.. That's not a bug. You're wearing a headband or hair accessory, right? You can't wear hats with hair accessories, so you have to remove it to see hats.

Could be that someone just traded off their extra Xurkitree, at least that's what my first thought would be. In Moon you have to catch two of them.

I caught 2 Xurkitree, 4 Pheromosa and 2 Celesteela. My husband caught 2 Xurkitree, 2 Buzzwole and 4 Kartana in Sun. We traded each other for the exclusive UBs to each of our games, but that obviously still left us with multiples of some. So I'm sure other people have just been sending their extras through WT for lack of anything else to do with them. :)
I just finished the first trial! Super slow here.My roomate is having the same problem with his regular 3ds. Myself, my boyfriend, and his girlfriend all have the new 3ds and have no issues playing. I catch him playing his girl friends new 3ds when she is at work lol. I know the new 3ds has a better frames per second than the older ones.
Did anyone find the totem battles really laggy? Every time I selected an attack, there was a 5-10 second wait, and the battle animations seemed so much slower than normal. I guess I'll have to see how the second one goes. My 3DS is old (it's the first LE Zelda one that came with OoT for a reference), I don't know if that has an effect, but I haven't noticed any other games randomly lagging. Considering I just passed on the BF New 3DS, I hope I don't need to upgrade.

You may also start to notice that when you turn the game off your 3DS might reboot. All these issues are fixed with the New 3DS and New 3DS XL. I have a pretty new 3DS XL, so I don't have any rebooting problems. There was a touch of lag during the Totem Battles, but nothing too bad. Now, I only have a couple seconds delay if a pokemon calls.

She's my third shiny now - Betty the Lillipup, a Gumshoos I didn't name, and now Lychee the Vulpix.yeah I watched something about the shinies for this gen.. while I admit there have been a lot of shinies that have been subtle, there is a lot that don't get a full pallet change

The Alolan Pokedex is now 100% complete! This is the first time I've fully completed any Pokedex before. Ten year old me is so proud right now. *sniffle*
I'm slowly building up my Pokedex too. The online GTS feature makes it a lot easier- I think they added it in X&Y, but I never got into building my dex in that game. Running around on Tauros also makes it easier to breed Pokemon as well. Sorry to hear your friend hasn't gotten to play with you yet Taffeta.I only have two known legit shinies that I have caught. Rockruff (who I evolved) using the SOS method, and Minior who I happen upon while minior color hunting (that was random luck since luckily it didn't use selfdestruct and I had to go an use a higher level pokeball without lowering it's health and hope it was not going to break out XD)
Also, within my first hour of playing the game, I found a shiny Yungoos while I was trying to find a Pichu!! :blink: It was kind of a stroke of really bad good luck. I haven't been able to find another shiny so far since. Does anyone else have unlucky luck like this?

The last Pokemon game I had was Pokemon X. I quit playing after that. I didn't get the new Ruby or Sapphire. I even sold my 3DS! (I had just not played anything on it in ages.)
I'd like to maybe get another 3DS and play the upcoming Ultra Sun/Moon. But, I'm not sure. If I do I will have to wait for Christmas due to the cost of a 3DS system. :P

I don't know, personally I found Pokemon Sun/Moon to be disappointing games. I personally would have been disappointed if I bought a 3DS just to get Sun/Moon. I can't imagine that Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon will be too much better.
Sun/Moon are known for having a better story than previous generations, so if that's your thing you might really enjoy them. However, I feel like the games are lacking otherwise.

I take so long to play any pokemon game, I'm surprised I finished Sun as fast as I did. I'm not even at the first gym in crystal.
And I think they're only supposed to give you one code but the people that work at my GameStop are awesome. They gave me extra codes to text to my nephew since he lives in the middle of nowhere Wyoming and I don't think his mom is going to dive an hour and a half just for him to get a Pokemon code. Of course, he bought both his Sun and Ultra Moon games here when they were visiting for Thanksgiving so I don't feel too bad asking them for extra codes for him. :)When I got the Marshadow code in October the worker asked me how many codes I wanted. Maybe it was because when I went I was alone, or they just never get much foot traffic whenever there's a new code.

I know I'm REALLY late, but I recently got a 3ds XL and Sun is on its way to me! I have been wanting Sun since it came out :) I am choosing Rowlet, and I know it will take a while, but I plan to shiny hunt for it :) I'm so darn excited!!Like Aluke says, go for the breeding route. Yeah, I probably should breed since it is WAY easier and way less time consuming, but for some reason... I just really want to soft reset for it!
