Title: Squishamals
Post by: vira on June 04, 2018, 09:29:11 PM
I was looking for ponies at Walmart today, and found a bunch of squishamals instead! I hadn't heard of them, but I wound up buying one! I got the seafoam and purple cat. There were all sorts of creatures though, even a sloth, hedgehog, narwhal, and unicorn.

They're squishy like a stress ball, but have minky-like fabric on the outside. When you squeeze them they compress for a few seconds and then move back into their original shape. I'd say they're roughly around grapefruit sized. Also, they're scented. I personally am not a fan of this, (fake smells give me headaches), but I think they're supposed to smell like melon or something.

I think I paid $7 for mine, which seemed a tad much to me, but I decided to treat myself.

Has anyone else gotten into these little guys? Who do you have?

Oh. My.

My life will not be complete without that piggie-pig.

They look amazing! I really like the idea of a plush squishie, as the texture of regular squishies feels a bit odd to me. The little sheep and the narwhal are just too precious; I'll need to keep an eye out for them!

I saw these today, they're really cute. :) I'll probably end up picking at least one up.

I know what you mean! It also bugs me when the paint on regular squishies cracks and peels, so this seems a good solution! :-D

I wanted to get the narwhal also but could only get one today. I think they're really cute but I don't like the melon scent (I'm usually okay with scented things but this scent doesn't appeal to me.)

I couldn't find them at my Wal-Mart. :( Where is everyone finding them? I assume the toys, but what are they next to?

At the Walmart store's I've found them at they were in an endcap display like those LOL Surprise dolls sometimes are with an opening at the top and bottom.  I lucked out finding them the first time but at the store I visited yesterday I had to walk around each aisle until I found them. The endcap was on the back of the aisle and I think it was the random/smaller toy lines aisle as the first places I checked were baby toys, Barbie and the MLP sections.

Also the endcaps I've found say Sqeezeamals instead of Squishamals. I heard there was a copyright issue with Squishamals so they changed the name to Squeezeamals. I can get a pic of the display next time I go to Walmart.

I hope you find them soon. :) It seems they've been out for a few months but I'm just now seeing them in my area.

I checked all the endcaps. Nothing. I saw Surprisimals. Surprise stuffed animals in plastic balls. But no squishy round stuffed animals. :(

This one is right at the start of the baby toys aisle, but it's been it's been moved since Saturday because I'm sure it wasn't on that aisle Saturday.

I hope they show up in your stores soon sailorstitch.

They are super cute :) I just did a search and a handful of Smyths stores apparently have them in stock. One is the one near my parents so I may go look on Saturday just from curiosity. Smyths has them at £5.99 each :/

I don't know if they are in other stores though. I am guessing if they're new that they're just starting to come out. For some reason my parents' local Smyths often gets stuff first despite being in the back of beyond...they had the EQG reboot dolls before my London store as well.

:)

I also checked another Walmart store after I posted this photo and found the same display on the end of the Nickeloden/Disney Princess aisle so I guess each Walmart just puts the dispaly where they think is best.

I've got the unicorn and the narwhal so far. I said I'd only get those two but these are so cute I might find it hard to resist getting a few more. :)

I'm sorry you haven't found them yet sailorstitch. I don't know why your Walmart would just have Surprizamals instead of Squishamals and Surprizamals. I'm pretty sure my Walmart has both.

Because our toy dept is pitiful. It's tiny compared to other stores I've been to. We have 3 aisles for toys. One for boys, one for girls and one for toddlers.

I’m a teacher and some kids at school have these - they are also into these foam squishy fruit things...they smell nice but not 100% sure I get the appeal. I guess it’s the tactile nature of them that’s cool?

They are cute, but the scented part really puts me off. I am ok with some scents.

I have the puppy Squishimal.  My niece and I found them a couple of months ago in a box at Target.  I got the dog, she got the pig.  I kind of envied her pig but she found it first and I don’t want more than one.  Puppy is really cute though.

Is the scent new?  Mine doesn’t seem to have one.

Noasar, I think its the softness and squishy feel that they like.  And likely there is some “keeping up with the Jones” going on too.   If one or two kids have something, they all want it.  Plus, all the kids my niece is friends with are really into box openings and toy reviews on YouTube/Instagram.  My little niece is extremely knowledgable about these toys and I get an education every time we walk through the toy isle now.  It’s crazy.

I'm sorry to hear that sailorstitch. :(

I like these much better than the other squishy things I've seen kids with that were so low quality they fell apart in a day.

I love that the squishy foam is sealed inside a stuffed animal. :)

I bought the Uni and one of the dogs. I was disappointed in how the Uni actually looked but oh well. If I can find a similar foam that is used in these then I can make some of my own XD

So cute! I'm gonna need that unicorn. I hadn't heard of these until my daughter got 2 for her birthday this weekend. She got the fox and the pig. Her friends found them at Showcase in the mall if any Canadians are looking for them.

I have the Fox one of these guys but I got it at Target, I've never seen these at Walmart at all. Unfortunately my Targets have moved the tray displays to the clearance section so I don't know if they will be stocking these again. :c

They are usually fully stocked with these at my local GameStop.  I bought a Ladybug for my daughter but I want a Narwhal for myself  ^.^  I didnt know and/or notice they are scented...?  lol.  Ive seen at Target and Walmart as well, usually located at end of aisles (not endcaps).

We did just buy a "squishies" type toy from Target, it was a lot cheaper than Squishamals.  It was shaped like a cloud with a little star, but comes in all differ designs, packaged in a clear baggie.  Sadly it smelled like chemicals and not even comparable to Squishamals quality.

They are supposed to be watermelon scented, I have the grey bunny and I can only smell her when I squish her, I plan to get the fox once my Walmart re stocks them

Good news for those who dont like the smell! After about a month or so of living on my nightstand, my Squishamal has very little scent left. I have to sniff it directly to detect it. I didn't even have it in direct sunlight or anything!

The big ones are a bit scary ;)

I have the Narwhal. Interestingly the scent doesn't bother me normally but in the days before I moved, it really did...I am much more sensitive to smells and sounds when I am stressed and so I guess that was the reason why. I had to move it away from my other plushes. And now my move is done...the smell isn't bothering me at all...

I don't really like melons but when I bought it the scent wasn't overpowering and isn't now. So I figure the problem was me and not with the toy...

I just checked my Squishamals that I bought during the summer and they don't have much of a scent left either. I thought the scent would last longer but I'm okay with them not staying scented.  The giant ones have a stronger smell in the stores than the smaller ones.

These are just too cute!  I have seen some in person before, but I waited until I could get the narwhal.  I did also see the white unicorn with purple mane and I almost got that one!  But, the narwhal has my heart.  lol!

I'll be on the lookout for series 2.  These are so soft and nice.  It's already my favorite squishy-type stress reliever.  :)

I haven’t seen the narwhal ones before though, I might have to get one... they’re so adorable

My sister likes this other similar toy line called squishmallows

Oh actually I went over to my sisters house and the Squishmallows don’t have the memory foam type filling that the Squishamals have, but they both seem to have the same outer fabric that’s still a bit squishy
(they also lack the scent that the squishimals have which is actually a good thing for me personally since i’m a bit scent sensitive)

The Series 2’s that I found didn’t seem to be as heavily scented as Series 1 but still had a bit if a scent.

They're slightly bigger than the Squeezamals, but feel the same when you squeeze them. The Disney ones are made by Just Play. Squeezamals are made by the Beverly Hills Teddy Bear Co.

I found them at Wal-Mart in the "boys" aisle. I saw several characters.

Mickey Mouse
Minnie Mouse
Rainbow Mickey
Rainbow Minnie
Rainbow Goofy
Rainbow Stitch
Tigger

This was the first time I saw them, but they had them on clearance. I think I paid $3 for Stitch.
