Title: Being harassed on eBay! Yet another update.....ugh!!!
Post by: bluerose9978 on May 05, 2013, 07:50:02 AM
It all started when I bought this lot from a seller in my own state and I thought it was strange that she was charging $25 for shipping but I thought maybe she was going to overnight it or something or maybe she didn't know the exact cost of the package and maybe would refund the difference later. Well, the package shows up and it cost her a little over $5 to send! And what's more, she puts in a packing slip expecting me to give her a 5-star rating and says if there's any problems to contact her first.

So I message her and politely point out that she charged $25 for shipping and it cost her $5 and ask if I can get some sort of refund because it's against eBay policy to overcharge by that much and she comes back with "but it's for my kids' swingset." I politely state that she should have passed that along in the auction price and not in the shipping price, so she said she'd sort that out later. That was yesterday and I still haven't received anything.

But this morning, I get a bid on my auction from bucksnut.03 from the same state we're both in and I get a message that says:
"Sorry I don't want your pony. It seems that you buy more than what you sell. The pony looks dirty. Please cancel my transaction. Sorry that I got your hopes up."

And I also get a message from bucksnut.03 that says:
"Looks like you rob from the poor. What a horrible thing to do. Buy something for a third of the price and resale it to triple your money. Is that what it takes to pay your mortgage?"

I'm positive these incidents are related. I turned bucksnut.03's messages in to eBay for harassment, but is there anything else I should do? I haven't left that other seller feedback yet. I was still waiting to see if they'd give me a partial shipping refund, but can I open a case for that?

UPATE: Apparently, the seller called me a bad eBayer in the feedback, too, even though I was polite about everything, so I went ahead and left her a negative and filed a case with eBay.

The seller's eBay name is lieubug2469 and she's selling more ponies, so I'd stay away! She's had 4 negatives and 1 neutral in the past year.

Wow, that is crazy bluerose! But I believe your right that it most likely is the same person. If you have already reported it, I am not sure what else you can do except do a follow up with ebay concerning the matter, maybe. Just to make sure that they are looking into.

Comments like this always make me angry. What business is it of theirs what you buy and sell and for how much?? It's not like selling things to make a profit isn't what EVERY SINGLE SALES BUSINESS IN THE WORLD does. Ugh.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I hope eBay can come up with some solutions :( Hopefully with the messages where the seller admits they overcharged on postage to make a profit for themselves ebay will take some kind of action against them.

if the seller left you feedback that is a 'false positive', I think ebay will remove it if you contact them, too.

Obviously that seller needs to reread ebay's rules, charging FIVE times the actual shipping is ridiculous!  If they haven't given you a refund yet, I'd def open a case!  If she wants to buy her kids a swingset, then she should save up, not rip people off; if she continues that behavior no one will buy from her and she'll just have LESS money.

I agree. I think you're handling it in a proper and preofessional manner. Ban her from bidding on your items and be done with it. Screw loose, unglued, trainwreck. All acronyms that would definately describe the mental state of this chick.

open a case against her for the shipping. That is WAY over the limit. Make sure you save those messages as well.

updating. Have you looked at the feedback? seems bucksnut.03 is a frequent buyer from the lady that overcharged you shipping.

If she's charging you $20 extra for shipping, isn't SHE robbing YOU? Lol

What's the seller's name? Thank you, I won't think twice about blocking them both.

And if that is the case, how STUPID on her part.

Unfortunately, I don't know how! I've been trying for the past hour to try to report shill bidding, and eBay's guide isn't easy to follow!

Well, I know on current auctions you can hit the report auction button.

But I don't know how to do it for previous ended auctions... and ebay's help page is so hard to navigate ~ Sometimes I think they make it difficult so people give up...

): Best of luck though...

That's just awful, I have bought off you through ebay, I thought you were a great seller and OK, it wasn't the $2 pony I usually go for so it was a bit more pricey for me, but it was a collector pose Minty and she was fabulous, well worth it.

This person/people sounds like a scammer from whats been said, report and block and forget, these people are a waste of time and worry.

After talking with eBay forever, I got this back:

"Thank you for contacting eBay in regard to reporting a member. Don’t worry, I’m here to help with this concern.

I was able to check the item in your email and I found out that you have been charged on shipping excessively. I would like to inform you that this is against our Policy for selling here on eBay.

We're committed to making eBay a fair and safe marketplace and encourage you to resolve problems with your buyer/seller directly whenever possible. However, if you feel that a member has violated our policies we will investigate and try to resolve cases of inappropriate buying or selling. We understand that it can be difficult to know when to report a potential offense. If you see a suspicious listing or if a member's behavior appears to violate our policies, review our rules and policies and make sure the offense is something we'll investigate."

But I haven't received any money back and eBay said they'd look into the seller's activity, so we'll see.

Oh, wow.  Unbelievable.  If it's not the same person, then it's her friend/husband/kid/etc.  That bit about the swing set is outrageous.  Overcharging for shipping is bad enough, but coming back to you such a lame excuse?  It's not your job to fund her kids' play equipment.  Thanks for posting.  I will be sure to avoid this awful/crazy seller. You were right to leave her a negative!

Another update:

Message from eBay:

"We already sent the report about (lieubug2469) and (bucksnut.03) for shill bidding, and the Investigation Department already received the report. They will take your report seriously and take appropriate action on the account if the report is proven or if the member violates our policy. As part of our security purposes, we will not let the reported member know who reported them to us.

Thank you for your time for reporting this to us,

eBay Trust & Safety Department"

Hopefully something will get done, even if it's just a warning to the seller so that they know that someone has turned them in....

Unfortunately when I talked to them on the phone they kept telling me their reasoning behind not doing much is because she's a top seller and I kept protesting that she is only a top seller because she is shill bidding!!! It was falling on deaf ears though! I can't prove it until the investigation is done. The thing is it doesn't take a genius to see that the accounts are somehow connected.

Oh wow, poor you, bluerose... I've bought from you a few times, and you're a fantastic seller.  I'm so sorry you have to deal with that unsettling harassment.  I hope eBay manages to make things right for you (though if they're reluctant to slap down their "top seller" even though she's shill bidding, I know it's a long shot).  Pony hugs  and best wishes - and thanks for letting us know about her, too.

My husband, unbeknownst to me, replied to one of bucksnut's messages with:

"It's American capitalism. Watch your mouth computer tough guy."

To which she replied:

"Yes sir"

She probably thought she was being funny and thought she was replying to me and didn't realize she was actually talking to my husband. So I had to LOL. Still nothing more from eBay, no refund, etc. Don't think it's going to happen...

------------------------

I also want to thank everyone for their kind words and their help. Yesterday was quite a stressful day worrying about this. And even if eBay sits on their thumbs and nothing happens, at least I know there are great people here. And I know some of you are on eBay and some of you are selling your ponies that I'm buying or are buying my ponies and that makes me smile.

Augh, this whole thing is so disgusting. We all know you're a fantastic seller. This person is just nuts. I can't believe they have the audacity to cause trouble when they are clearly shill bidding and way overcharging for shipping! I hope ebay shuts them down.

I've been thinking about getting an ebay account lately but it's just this sort of incident that scares me away. I can't believe they'd remove the negative feedback you left!

I blocked both eBay accounts. I just don't understand why she decided to harass me when all I did was ask for a partial shipping refund. At that point I hadn't even left her feedback but she had taken it upon herself to leave false positive feedback on my account saying I had left her bad feedback. She's a quack. So I went ahead and left her honest feedback and she had eBay remove it.

My advice- don't take it personally and try to forget this creepster ever existed.  In my experience, getting ebay to track down and eliminate shill bidders and stockers is more frustrating than anything else.

Playing the devil's advocate here, but if the $25 shipping charge was listed on the auction, then you have no grounds to complain. You agreed to these terms when bidding. I really don't think you have grounds to win a case, Ebay or paypal won't give you a partial refund for the shipping overcharge- you'll either have to eat it or return the ponies for a full refund.

With that out of the way, the seller is a nutbag and deserves to be kicked off of Ebay for her adittude alone. Did you in anyway threaten negative feedback in any if your messages? This could be why it was removed. Be sure to report her false positive feedback she left you. Ask to speak to a manager if you can, Ebay is all about getting you off the phone asap. Did you get a response as to why your neg feedback was removed?

I wish you the best of luck.

EDIT

is this the auction?

221219043904

The shipping price is clearly listed so Ebay wont refund anything, nor should they.

No, I never threatened negative feedback. I just contacted the seller asking her why it was so expensive and her answer was because she wanted to buy a swing set, which violates eBays policy and that is when I asked her for a partial refund. And eBay reviewed our messages and agreed that her overcharging violated policy basing it on the auction and our correspondence.

Post Merge: May 06, 2013, 02:12:48 PM

But my husband suggested the reason eBay may have taken the negative down is she did put the overpriced fixed shipping cost in her auction and she probably complained enough that they did it even though it was irrational and irresponsible of them to do so!
Title: Re: Being harassed on eBay!

Hm... here is a thought. Did you request reimbursement for the shipping? If so Ebay could have seen that as you asking for something not included in the original contract and removed the feedback mention the overcharge.
Title: Re: Being harassed on eBay!
Post by: bluerose9978 on May 06, 2013, 02:36:33 PM
I'm not quite sure what you mean? I asked her to split the overcharge with me. She overcharged me by $20 and I asked if she'd meet me in the middle because that was a ridiculous sum when it only cost her $5. When I first bid on the auction I thought she was from Canada with that shipping price. And then I noticed when it got closer to the end that she was from the same state as me and I thought WTH!
Title: Re: Being harassed on eBay!
Post by: HawaiianRain on May 06, 2013, 02:51:37 PM
Regardless of what the auction states, sellers can not overcharge for shipping like that. Ebay did agree with her on excessive shipping. This is against eBay's TOS as a seller.

One good thing did come out of the auction, though! I got a gorgeous SS Satin N Lace with pink hair and very little flocking loss: the reason I had bid on the auction in the first place. It almost....almost....makes things better. She's an upgrade to one I already have so I'm selling my old one.
Title: Re: Being harassed on eBay!

I imagine Ebay removed the feedback because it was related to the shipping overcharge.  I mean, to an outsider's perspective, when you look at this auction, you see that it was $x and shipping was $25.  You obviously paid the shipping... so I can see why Ebay doesn't think well of your negative commentary regarding the listed shipping price.  Even if it was ridiculous!  :(  Average Joe Bob can't see your shipping box with the $5 label on it...  they see that shipping was listed as $25 and that you agreed to pay it.

I'm sure if you had left her a neutral with low stars, they wouldn't have removed it.  So frustrating though!  It's all politics and procedure on Ebay.  :(
Title: Re: Being harassed on eBay!

This whole thing is pretty shocking.  You can bet I'm not going to be bidding on this seller's auctions!  Hopefully ebay will do *something* to the seller.

As for the feedback, ebay very, very rarely removes feedback.  There are a few loopholes, and if this seller knows some of them, that could explain it.  Did you mention anything at all about ebay investigating this seller in your feedback?  That'll do it every time.  So would anything mentioning shill bidding.  Basically ebay will remove anything that indicates any kind of investigation or crime.  They can't prove any accusations, and leaving them up could get them sued.  Ebay also will remove feedbacks that have links in them, and feedback with excessively abusive language.  There also used to be a really big loophole that I'm not sure exists anymore.  Any seller used to be able to report any buyer for not having all their account information up to date.  I knew of one seller who did this constantly.  He'd get a bad feedback, report the buyer for bad contact information, and cross his fingers.  More often than not there was *something* in the buyer's account that wasn't 100% up to date(an old phone number was the usual culprit), and ebay would remove the feedback.  I'm not sure if that is still in effect anymore, but it used to be an easy way to get out of bad feedback.

One of the best places to find out about ebay and its policies is also one of the least known.  Ebay runs a bunch of message boards on all sorts of topics including feedback.  If you're looking for answers about what might have happened, here's a good place to start:
http://forums.ebay.com/db2/forum/Feedback/113

You can post a question on there, but be warned - your ebay ID will be visible to everyone there.  Keep it 100% polite and factual.  People who have posted less than popular things on some of the boards have had problems with troll bidding on their auctions before.  It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

I know all the feedback rules. I simply said the seller overcharged me for shipping and had someone harass me. I said almost the exact same thing I said on her feedback as I said in my feedback reply to the feedback she gave me if you're curious to the wording.

I hope I didn't offend you!  I'm sorry if I did.  You just never know what another person knows, and the whole thing is just so crazy.  She earned that negative feedback, and it's just shocking that ebay removed it.  I've been on ebay since '97, and in all those years I've never seen anything like what happened to you.  Maybe there's some new policy now, maybe she just really knows how to work the system.  At least you know that nobody who reads this will ever deal with her again!

Bluerose you didn't do anything wrong.  Even if shipping that high is in an auction ebay needs to be aware people are over charging because that is not fair to buyers.  Sure you can decide to buy but there are rules about shipping charges sellers are to follow.  So I do agree with Bluerose on this one that she did have a right to ask about the shipping once she got her package and saw it didn't cost that much to ship it.  That is fair.  I think the biggest issue here is that a seller overcharged and admitted it and harassed an ebay member. That is not right at any level. Its not right to over charge to that degree and turn around and admit that the money taken from the shipping was for a swing set...then turn around and send harassment personal messages to a buyer.  That person is just nuts.

Bluerose are you saying that you left her a negative and ebay removed it?  I am so sorry you went through that.

I can't believe I actually believed the seller when she said she would make things right. She had no intention of doing so and probably set out to start causing trouble as soon as we stopped messaging.

I guess all I can do now is try to get the word out to not buy from her. She is selling more ponies and Barbies as well as jewelry and baby clothing.

You know Blue, its totally understandable that you would think that perhaps the shipping might have been fair at first.  There are a lot of ponies in that lot if that is the right auction.  I don't blame you for bidding and then saying something after you realized the shipping wasn't fair (after you got the box and saw it wasn't as expensive).  I totally get that. I would have done the same thing.

She basically shipped them in a large plastic bag. Not even a bubble envelope. So the packing material weighed nothing. It cost $5.53 to ship to me. $5.53!!! I thought when I saw the auction the seller was in Canada because of the name and the shipping. I read the auction and the terms but wasn't worried about where it was coming from. I buy and sell over the border all the time.

At least she has more accurate shipping for the sea ponies she's selling because she has quite a few bids. It just makes me sick that people are bidding on them. I hope the buyer doesn't get suckered by her like I did!

I just won another auction and paid. The seller just sent me a note saying the package is packed and they chipped in an extra $0.30 to send it priority so it would get to me sooner. That somewhat restores my faith in eBay sellers. I know there are a few good ones out there for every bad one.

I've put her IDs on my list and hopefully people avoid her! :(

When you left FB, did you mention anything about her having multiple accounts. If so, that may be why ebay removed it.

Also, how awful of a seller! Keep calling ebay, different people help differently. I've found to repeat calls until I get someone helpful. See if you can't leave FB again for her but make it into a Neutral with poor star ratings.
Did she ship the package as stated (shipping method?) I once bought an item (non pony related) and they put priority as the shipping method, but when the item shipped to me it was first class and half the cost. I got to leave a negative for it but ebay said they would help with the shipping overcharge, but never seen any money returned.

Good luck sweetie! and keep up updated

No mention of the multiple account, I simply mentioned the overcharge and said when I asked for a refund the seller harassed me. I don't get it either. I can only account for it that she is a top seller and eBay is blind to the fact that the reason she is a top seller is because she is a shill bidder. Unfortunately, I won't know what happens if they find anything or if they do anything about it though.

I also wish on the negative I could have mentioned the fact that the ponies were wet when they arrived and that several had hair cuts...LOL. I had given her 1 star for the shipping costs, 1 star for communication since she lied to me and led me to believe she was going to give me a partial refund and then I gave her 4 stars for shipping time and 4 stars for item description since it wasn't quite as described but I don't expect that if you're not a collector, but the fact they were wet and she wrapped them in colored tissue paper which discolored BBE Baby Sleepy Pie deserved less than 5. I really wish eBay would have left the negative, it was honest and deserved.

One of the best ways to stop shill bidding on ebay is to use sniper services.  Not placing bids early or bids at all until the end will complete stop a shiller in their tracks.  Also bidding in the last 7 seconds manually would work also.  Sniper services bid in the last second though.  They can't raise a price on something if they don't know anyone is going to bid and how much.  I know this doesn't have a thing to do with your situation but as much as people complain about sniping they really need to see its benefits.  I honestly don't know what ebay does to shillers.  I agree with you that the negative was deserved.  Its a shame people can get a negative removed just with what we say in that negative.  Ebay just seems to not know what they are doing these days.  A long time ago it seems to be a fair marketplace.

No, I haven't called them back. I'm not sure it's worth it since they agreed I was grossly overcharged for shipping but have done nothing. They'll probably agree I should be able to leave feedback and then still not allow me to.

 wow... This is exactly the reason I don't use eBay much. If I can't sell it or buy it here, I don't need it. My dad's been an ebayer since the site started (like back when you had to have a separate "buyer" account and "seller" account), and this type of thing is getting more common... Although your case is an extreme. He's had people overcharge him $1-5 to "cover packaging supplies," and if the item IS well-packaged he won't make a fuss.

I'm so sorry this happened.

I just talked to eBay again. I think I got the guy to understand that she is cheating eBay. He agreed that she does seem to be the same person and he said she already has knocks against her account, so it does seem that things are going to be done. And he said the feedback got removed because I said that I in my message to her I said I wanted to resolve things before leaving feedback. I explained to him that saying that didn't mean I was going to leave bad feedback, just that I wasn't going to leave feedback until things were resolved...LOL....because I don't usually leave negatives or neutrals. I think I've only ever left a negative twice ever, including this incident and I explained to him that I want other buyers to know what a bad seller she was. And he said soon they might not need to know by feedback because she has so many marks against her account....ominous!

I think it's ridiculous that she's even leaving feedback for the auctions that she's shilling up.  It seems to me that it would be less conspicuous/obvious to just set the auction to private and/or not leave feedback at all, wait a few days, and just relist it as though she'd had a NPB.  Nothing like leaving a trail of breadcrumbs right to her door, so to speak.

Well, what I think she's doing is trying to boost her feedback because eBay told me she is a top seller and top sellers get perks like reduced prices and discounts. So she's not only trying to sell her stuff at higher prices but is trying to get better feedback scores and she has been getting away with it until now.

Honestly I wasn't really watching, but I have a sea pony search on eBay because I am missing some from my collection. When I had looked to see what else she was selling to make sure I wouldn't bid, I had noticed that lot. Then I kept noticing it showing up every couple days again under newly listed sea pony lots so today I checked the feedback and that's when I saw what she was doing.

I think you can only report it when the auction is still going. Basically there is a small little link that says "Report item" over to the right. Then you can use the drop down list to say shill bidding.

I just want to cry or send them a message and tell them that they were scammed because she might be a member here.  She won 7 of lieubug's auctions and the feedback lieubug gave her said: "awsome buyer very nice unlike some of the others Atttttttt" which basically meant "glad I could scam you unlike some of the others." I think there must be something wrong with the + sign on her computer. How many people would have that exact same problem AND happen to bid on her lots?
Perhaps tell eBay to send her and the "other" bidder a series of numbers and symbols to write back? Then they could see if the + signs were missing or replaced with t's the way she seems to be doing. Easy peasy fresh and squeezy!

I think you can only report it when the auction is still going. Basically there is a small little link that says "Report item" over to the right. Then you can use the drop down list to say shill bidding.

I feel dumb.. Because I am doing that, and SHill Bidding is not listed.

Nevermind. Found it. Fraudulent Listing Activities.

Nope, you can view the original listing and report it after the fact.  'Cause that's what I just did for all 3 of the sea pony auctions.

Does anyone know if DonnaTurtle is a member here? It just pains me that lieubug took such advantage of her and bid up the auctions she won so much!

Also, bucksnut has bid up this auction: 221227380540

So please please please go in to that listing report it before it ends! Let eBay know it is fraudulent!!!

Here is a link on the completed auctions that bucknut.03 has bid on which are completed.
Looks like they don't buy too much from anyone but the seller we have been discussing.
I have blocked both user names and hope they both get kicked off ebay.  Of course I am sure they will be back under a new user name, seems to happen all the time.

are you sure that package only cost a bit over $5 to send? It costs me about $5 to ship one pony tracked, and I deal with ebay all the time.

Shipping should of been around $14-15 for all those. I'm not trying to put you down in anyway, but you also agreed to pay the $25 for it since you bid.
But me personally,  I would be happy regardless since you won such an amazing lot with a pony worth more thenthe lot and shipping combined .
But what I don't understand is this seller, why would they be bidding against their own items? That defeats the purpose and to me sounds like a complete waste of time. IF they want set prices for their items they need to do set price or best offer. But they will prob get kicked off since this is going under investigation.

I do hope you get some money in return. but either way you still scored a nice lot of ponies.

That's what it said on the shipping label. And I can read (I have a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in English). She lives in the same state as I do. She used a shipping bag to ship them and wrapped them soaking wet in colored tissue paper which stained some of the ponies.

But I think you're missing the point. She scammed me and she's scamming others on eBay and I'm doing what I can to stop her now.

Shill bidding Clipper only helps the seller and hurts others who want to win the items.  The seller is out nothing but having to relist the items when the shill bid does not draw out a top bidder.  It's not condoned within the Community and members have been banned for doing it.

I want to report this person also, but I can't figure out what to choose in the report item section.  There doesn't seem to be anything about shill bidding there and there certainly isn't anything listed about feedback manipulation. So how are you guys reporting her listings and what are you choosing after you click report item?

I think it's more than that.  I just ran a search for mlp babies, worded several ways.  They don't pop up.
Was using Chrome, just tried Safari.  Still no there, but if I click on the link here, they show up.  This is not a good thing finding that different browsers find different auctions.   ;)
I will happily report any auctions ya'll post here unless someone has a magic trick to finding them myself.  More than me being curious than I NEED to know.  :frog:

I reported all the auctions that had that same bidder bidding up the price.  I am hoping they will look at the older auctions and see its the same bidder over and over. Sadly they don't give us a place to explain that fact.  A long time ago you could write like a small amount of words to explain a concern with a report which was more useful if you ask me.

I just found her auctions by looking up her seller name on ebay and the items she had for sale.

I think what eBay has done is downgrade her top seller rating so that her listings don't show up easily because she's had a lot of marks against her while they do their investigation.... could that perhaps be the case? Would any more savvy eBayers know?

Who knows Bluerose.  Its a thought but I am not sure at all what might be going on.  I found several of her listings just by her seller name.

Post Merge: May 15, 2013, 10:57:48 AM

I wonder if a person bidding on the item has a better case.  Say you bid a small amount on her auction and then she outbids you then...you report her.  I think that might also speak volumes.  Especially if you see that item up again..you can report it again.

Seriously I have to ask you why would ebay ask you such a stupid question as that?  I mean why should we care?  First of all its a forum of theft for one thing.  You are secretly forcing someone to pay more for an item and number two its against ebay policy in which case they should care more, and its sellers like this that ruin the community of selling for everyone and ebay can lose money when things don't sell or sell lower because buyers don't feel ebay is a safe community to bid in anymore.  If the entire site is shady...sellers will leave. Come on.  What kind of stupid a question is that?

I have have been careful in the past couple of years to check why bidding has gone so high for auctions and I'm glad I have. I think it's good for buyers to check the bidding history before bidding on an auction to see if there's any fishy looking bidding going on and to check a seller's feedback to see if they have any strange sounding feedback like lieubug does. I wish I had, then maybe I would have put 2 and 2 together before I bid. I didn't realize it until bucksnut harassed me.
Title: Re: Being harassed on eBay! Urgent update!

This is why I never bid until the last minute. I am not going to have some shiller come and raise my bids. I either use sniper services or bid myself at the last second if at all possible. If there isn't a bin I will not bid early.

It's just getting quite ridiculous. I gave the cliffnotes version to my boyfriend, who doesn't even use eBay...and even he knew something was up right away. When I told him what the eBay worker said, he was shocked. That is like, if you reported someone shoplifting and they said something like "So what, it wasn't something expensive?".

The person irks me to no end. They're just being a big cheat who can't be patient and wait for their feedback to increase naturally and gradually over time.

I hope that all the reports get them banned and it teaches them a valuable lesson, to not cheat people out of money!!

I was looking into her feedback left for others and came across a similar one to a false positive she left for someone else! Get this, she had sold the baby lot to someone else on April 30 and charged $20 for shipping (sound familiar?) and she had used bucksnut to bid up the auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-G1-My-Little-Pony-And-Accessories-Pony-Baby-Twins-7-Ponies-Rare-/221219049586

And I'm not sure what happened, but apparently the buyer paid for her item and asked for a refund or something and got this as a followup feedback: "Very inappropriate behavior, I wouldn't buy or sell to this sad soul."

I'm guessing she figured out she had been scammed before it was sent. Smart girl!

When I told him what the eBay worker said, he was shocked. That is like, if you reported someone shoplifting and they said something like "So what, it wasn't something expensive?".

That has actually happened to me. I reported people stealing fountain drinks at work, and my department manager was like "Well, they don't really cost that much..." And then people started threatening to mess up my car O.O I guess people take their soda seriously around here.

I completely agree! About 5 years ago, what she did wouldn't fly! She would have been banned for sure!

I just looked at her other auctions and she used bucksnut to inflate her Old Navy clothes yesterday evening...so she's still doing it!  >_<

Is it odd that bucksnut has allegedly bought all this stuff recently and the feedback count remains at 72?  Easier to track, but why is it not changing?

Because she's leaving feedback for lieubug but lieubug isn't leaving feedback for her! I had noticed that too. She probably figured she was trying to stay under the radar that way. If you look at her stats 98% of her bids are on lieubugs auctions. If lieubug left feedback every time it would be very suspicious.

Because Ebay keeps making money off her in fees and she "looks" to be a high-performing seller, which makes Ebay even MORE money.  They won't ban her until they realize she is a liability to their reputation or she's not making them enough money for the "ignoring her bad behavior".

Anywhere else she would be banned. This girl just gives eBay a bad image for their customer service. If it was me, her rear would be long gone.

I would start from the beginning where you were overcharged, to the positive neg feedback, to the harassment from bucknut and then making the connection.

Whadda, who, what, WHAT?! Ok, this here might be the very reason i will go and close my newly made ebay account! i mean, this whole situation, but to get this answer from their representative?!?! YOU who got ripped off, they admitted it and did nothing, with not even a "sorry"?! You who have been spending time figuring out people who are breaking THEIR rules?! YOU who have been tirelessly reporting this blatant fraud for them to do nothing! I am speechless, wow!
Seriously, the fact that they have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING this whole time, is disgusting. bye, bye ebay!

Actually, Ebay is very good at protecting buyers. The fact that this seller is flaky and has multiple IDs is a separate issue from the overcharging on shipping.

Ebay will never partially refund a buyer for overcharging on shipping. No one is getting trapped into buying anything. If you see an auction and the shipping is $20 for standard domestic shipping you should really just avoid it. Buying it and then asking for the difference is not fair for anyone.

Although I don't agree with large handling fees, I do agree with normal ones. And what is normal is all relative. But it's important to remember to just avoid any prices you don't like. The prices are all clearly listed so it's not like you will get tricked into buying anything.

It is breaking Ebay's rules to buy the item and then open a case for overcharging on shipping. That is not what cases are for on Ebay and Paypal. Also, you can report buyers who demand any kind of partial payment back.

So to put it in perspective, Ebay probably saw the buyer doing just this and it tainted anything else she had to complain about. That is most likely why they took off the negative feedback and didn't initially listen to what she had to say.

But in any case, the shill bidding usually gets caught eventually. There was a person shill bidding on Furbies not too long ago to try and make them look more valuable than they are (they are worth a little but not as much as they were trying to make it seem). So with everyone reporting this person and her obvious shill bidding she will most likely get banned very soon. Just because it hasn't happened overnight doesn't mean that it won't happen.

As much as I don't like Ebay, they actually are very good to buyers.

I wasn't sure if it was good to go through the entire scenario. Because really the main point I want to make is there is an obvious shill bidder who is scamming people and that it's being pointed out to eBay by several people and that it's being reported on almost a daily basis and eBay is doing NOTHING about it.

This whole post may have started because she overcharged me shipping and she harassed me through her other eBay ID, but what this post really is about is eBay's lack of customer service, the fact they don't follow their own rules and that shill bidding is occurring, it's being pointed out to them and they're doing NOTHING.

Did she do the shill bidding on the auction that you won?

You could mention that you had a conflict with the seller (don't need to say what it was), and then you looked more closely and noticed the shill bidding.

Ebay has a system for banning members and none of us know what it is.  They probably give a lot of warnings first and large numbers of members probably have to be affected by selling practices.

Believe it or not, I have another update:

I'm not positive it is her, but both my husband and I are pretty sure it is: This month my husband started getting strange magazines in his name: Ohio Living, Seventeen, Men's Health, Rider, Quilting. They all have two things in common for sure, they are all to be billed later to our address and all were sent from a mailed slip in May (when I had the run-in with lieubug). My husband has called and cancelled them all and the last one he asked for them to locate the slip and send it to us so we can see where it was mailed from. If it was mailed from Bainbridge, Ohio, or nearby, we've got her!

When I bought the ponies from lieubug, she had my husband's name, not mine, so it would make sense for her to send the magazines to him, not me. So that's why I'm pretty positive it's her.

Well, this is gonna be kinda long-winded... I was looking through the thread and saw someone mention something about a Baby Stockings and thought to myself, "I just got one of those... wait, that was in May..." and so I went to check who y'all were talking about and looked on ebay to check the username of the person who sold me the pony. It was lieubug2469.

I don't remember what happened with the auction. I think that my mom and I bid on it, but then someone came along and outbid us. However, later that night, we got a second chance offer on the pony. I was over the pony, but my mom decided to take the offer. Here (http://www.ebay.com/itm/My-Little-Pony-G1-Mail-Order-Kelloggs-Baby-Pony-Stockings-Rare-/221228043991?ViewItem=&ssPageName=ADME%3AX%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1123&item=221228043991&nma=true&si=3o%252FX5Rrpm8vI7xbTet4nU8DD7Ww%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557) is the listing for Baby Stockings (#221228043991). You can't see the bid history for some reason...

The whole transaction went smoothly, but when the pony arrived, we accidentally got another package as well from lieubug2469. The shipping label on the outside was addressed to my mom, so she opened it without thinking (we got a few more packages that day, so it was just kinda automatic). I saw and was like "That isn't ours.."

Anyway, there was a receipt/note inside the package, on top of everything, so I picked it up to see what it said and it had someone else's name and address on it and said to leave positive feedback and five stars.  I actually took pictures of the package we received, because I was taking pictures of the other things I got for my blog. As you can see, we didn't mess with anything inside except to read the slip.

I'm pretty sure it's the Baby Pony lot you guys were talking about in the thread. She finally sold it to someone. This is the listing for it (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-Of-G1-My-Little-Pony-And-Accessories-Pony-Baby-Twins-7-Ponies-Rare-/221227725406?nma=true&si=3o%252FX5Rrpm8vI7xbTet4nU8DD7Ww%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557) (#221227725406).

We got in contact with her to tell her that she accidentally shipped that package to us instead. We asked if she wanted us to send it back to her or mail it forward to the person on the slip because they were in FL as well, and we figured it'd be easier on everyone. We were expecting her to, you know, say she'll reimburse us the shipping cost afterward... Nope. She was like "I'm sorry can you forward it?" and before we could respond (we were busy that morning because my dad in/out of the hospital around that time) she send another impatient message saying "Are you going to be able to forward that package."

Ignoring how impatient she was seeming, we responded by telling her we were going to the post office tomorrow to mail it. She sent another message with the address (which we already had from the slip). We mailed it and sent her the tracking number. All she had to say afterward was "Ty very much" and that was it. We ate about $7.50 shipping it to the rightful owner. We never said or did anything because neither of us are confrontational, we just figured we'd never deal with her again. I just wanted the people to get their ponies.

Actually, looking at her feedback... Bucksnut.03 has left feedback for lots identical to the Baby Pony one and the Baby Stockings one. The Baby Stockings that Bucksnut.03 left feedback has the bid history and that is the one that we bid on. Here is the listing (http://www.ebay.com/itm/My-Little-Pony-G1-Mail-Order-Kelloggs-Baby-Pony-Stockings-Rare-/221226024241?nma=true&si=3o%252FX5Rrpm8vI7xbTet4nU8DD7Ww%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557) (#221226024241). She shill bid it, outbid us, then gave us a second-chance offer. I guess so she could manipulate her feedback and rating. I imagine the same thing happened with the Baby Pony lot.

Anyway, I don't care, I'm just never going to deal with her again. I like my Baby Stockings regardless. Here's a picture of her I took of her on my shelf right after she arrived.

It makes it hard to feel safe when eBay allows people like this on their site. And they can have access to your address and phone number! It's scary!

it really is scary! How much more evidence and complaints do they need against this seller? They just obviously don't care! and I do not want to do business with someone who will dismiss their customers so easily even though they are obviously right, *especially* when it turns out they are being harassed!

i'm so sorry you and your husband are going through this! i hope that slip confirms it's them so you can finally turn to authorities!

Oh wow!  I can't believe she didn't even offer to refund your shipping. I don't think I could've kept my mouth shut about it. I would've made her pay first. Your sweetier than I could've been.

Ditto! I would have made them pay first before I shipped anything because you never know with some sellers. How completely rude! Why hasn't ebay banned this person?!

Yeah, we probably should have, but at the same time, maybe it's better we didn't pursue it. If we would have been like "yeah, well... I need to you pay me the shipping cost before I do anything" after she responded without offering, she might have gotten insulted and started harassing us too since she seems kinda unhinged and all.

Anyway, I guess we know better now if something like that happens again lol

THIS!! This is a FEDERAL CRIME. It's mail fraud!! This is a HUGE crime now because of terrorism.... especially since the Anthrax scare all those years back. If you have enough information, you might want to consider levying charges against her.... this is beyond harassment now. This is a form of malicious stalking; she has your personal information and is using that to commit mail fraud!
http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Mail+Fraud
Her intent is to defraud you, and she's doing it this way because you know HER address too, from the return shipping on your package at the time. Seriously, think about taking legal action and now just yipping around her eBay account. Plus, she's committing mail fraud against those magazine publishers as well. She could get in SERIOUS trouble. Seriously, this lady needs a harsh dose of reality... the power of anonymity and eBay letting her do whatever the buck she wants obviously made her think that she could get away with anything. What would really help clinch the proof if she's the only Bainsbridge seller you've worked with in the time leading up to these incidents... that would put the nail in the coffin, which I for one am eager to see happen... I'm usually highly non-confrontational, but what she's doing is beyond toleration. She's bilking people out of every penny she can, and when she can't? She starts all over again anyway. Then, she accuses YOU of being the thief... and now the mail. Being a jerk is one thing... committing a federal crime is another entirely.

That's crazy and scary.  What a psychopath.

It may also count as identity theft and postal fraud.  If you can get proof of who sent it, it may be worth talking to an attorney.

I asked my husband then what when we find out and we are still debating that. So I will keep that in mind.

DO! Do look into it... like I said, it most definitely is mail fraud.

We are leaving for vacation this week. I'm hoping when we return a slip will be waiting for us and not a bunch more magazines my husband didn't subscribe to. He had told all of the magazine customer support people a shortened version of what happened except for the magazine he asked a slip from. He told them all the details as he knows them. So hopefully that actually got something done and put a bee in their pants to find the slip. But if it was destroyed, that doesn't help our cause.

Heya,

I read this all back in May time and was amazed at the whole situation and lack of anything being done. Having just popped over to the TS today and seen it back up near the top I've caught up and "amazed" is not a strong enough word to describe my thoughts and feelings on this >_<!

I really hope you both make the decision to go down the legal road as what she is doing is clearly so very wrong, it may well have happened to other people but it just takes that one strong person to stand up and fight - like you and everyone else here has been trying with ebay themselves. Of course that said I'm sure we'd all understand if you wanted no further stress from this mad woman and put it all behind. Legal battles are never easy.

Either way I just hope you and your husband can have a nice vacation and some home to the proof you need, or at least no new surprises of magazines and who-knows-what

and a dancing pineapple for the holiday spirit :pineapple:!

My husband is a police officer so I feel pretty safe in following his lead and doing what he thinks is best. And if he doesn't think we have enough evidence to proceed, then we're going to have to wait it out until we can build a case. He's not a detective, but he has been in court over the cases he does deal with enough times to know what he needs to do.

This is what I wrote on the eBay bidding boards today:

Why doesn't eBay care about shill bidding? And I have proof!

I have turned a shill bidder in several times. They have manipulated an item I won, an item another person I know bid on and then gave them a second-chance offer when their other user name won it for the second time and had already left feedback.

There was also an item that had been won by their second user name THREE TIMES before it was finally turned around and sold to someone else. And if you look up their second user name and look at their bidding activity, 98% of their bidding activity is on that one seller.

I have called eBay two times about them and been harassed by them and now they are harassing me through mail fraud since they have my mailing address through eBay. They decided to sign me up for magazines and have them bill me later through my address! I'm about ready to go to the police with this now since eBay won't do squat!

Holy Cow.  That's beyond absurd.  I thought the overcharging was falling enough but the rest?  Sick.  Is there any way she's on this forum and seeing the pot you've stirred with her name on it?  Otherwise, the reaction seems insanely prolonged for a feedback that was erased.  Can she know you're threatening her (criminal) livelihood?

I'm (perhaps wrongly) inferring from your comment that you took my comment as critical of you.  I wanted to clear that up because I've seen you have to defend yourself in this thread and I think *that's* horrible.  I don't want you to come away feeling like I'm doing the same thing so let me try again!  :)

1)  Charging $20 over for shipping and getting away with it is unthinkable.  I'm surprised that anyone in these forums can defend that practice!

2)  I agree, no matter what, that this woman MUST suffer from some form of mental illness.  There is no possible other explanation because her actions go well above and beyond merely "career criminal" to "fraudulent nutcase".

3)  My question about whether she's a member here wasn't about whether we know her or she's an informed collector but really more about how much she knows about your response (here and on eBay Forums) to what's happened to you--whether she has a Google Alert search set up for her username or something that led her to read this.  I wonder if her extreme and continued harrassment is in retribution for what you've said here?  (Would this thread come up if you googled her eBay username?  I don't even know.)  You are well and rightfully on the warpath, protecting ALL OF US, and I appreciate and respect that.  It is astonishing that her shill bidding has gone on THIS long and THIS blatantly.  But with the magazines and the harassment, a full month (or more?) later, when the feedback that pissed her off was deleted by eBay--it just makes me wonder if she's aware somehow that her time as a 'respected' super star seller is very, very short.

TL; DR

I didn't mean to upset you in any way.  I'm thoroughly and completely on your side in every aspect of this debacle.

No, I didn't take your comment as a dig at me. I just wanted to say she deserves what is coming to her. And that I don't think the magazine thing is something new. Like I said in a previous post, my husband has inquired into when these slips were mailed (some were actually emailed under a nonexistent email account) and they were all done in May. So this is not some new plan she just came up with to get me back. This was something she devised when I apparently took away her top seller status last month. That's my thoughts as to her retribution anyway.

Unfortunately, the eBay community is very critical and they're making it all about the shipping, which I was afraid of. Trying to make me the bad guy for thinking overcharging me by $20 wasn't a crime by eBay standards and completely ignoring the shill bidding part. If anyone wants to help me defend myself, go to to the eBay boards, under bidding. You should find my thread pretty easily.

Perhaps it would have been better to just tell the shill bidding part of the story rather than everything.  You know some people just can't take more than two issues in a thread at once.  LOL  You may have to start over and just do a shill bidding thread in another category...like safe harbor.

I tried with just the shill bidding part but then the person asked if I had harassed the seller and so I had to tell some backstory!

I am not sure there is enough information there for them to understand what is really going on and to be honest I am shocked that they think it is fine for a seller to act this way because you complained about shipping.  I think the entire world has just lost their marbles.  I am not sure this step is going to give you the results you hoped. Sigh.

I know. Am I allowed to mention her usernames? I wasn't sure whether I would be allowed to. Because if I could direct them to her auctions and the bidding, they can see for themselves the bidding and the manipulation.

Wow, a lot of the people on the eBay boards are really really jaded, unhelpful jerks, aren't they?  Not just on your thread; I was reading through some of the others and it's the same way.  Not a nice environment at all.

They are a bunch of jerks. You'd think safe harbor would be safe...nope! I had to add a couple of them to my ignore list.

Honestly not that you asked me, but i would not mention a user name.  In fact, I would pull back and not post anything else.  If it were me I would think that at this point you don't need that seller knowing your plans.  Quietly just gathering evidence is best at this point.  You don't want to make a move that could hurt your case.  I know its frustrating that nothing is being done, but this may take time and another bidder after bidder complaining before something happens.  This person appears to have a stalking like behavior pattern.  I would be careful publically exposing them right now for your own safety.  This could be a dangerous person..who knows what they are capable of.  I'd not give them any reasons to do more.  Sometimes we can take things too far and once something is done, it can't be undone.

What a bunch of rude people on the ebay forum! No help at all and fixated on the shipping cost thing. They care more about that than people getting ripped off by that seller. I wouldn't post any more because clearly they aren't of any help and it doesn't look like ebay cares either. Such a shame :(

Unfortunately I learned years ago that very rarely does anyone post anything helpful when you post a problem over there. Yes, there are the few occasions but that fshardy is a troll.  He has been around for years and usually his posts are full of negativity and never helpful. It's usually just an attack on the poster.

I am sorry you had to experience that when you were clearly just trying to warn others and seek advice.

Yeah the ebay community stinks. I bought some wallscrolls, asked the seller about shipping as the magical ebay calculator had done it and it is always wrong, didn't get a response, paid the invoice...seller told me she sent them priority/tracked. They turned up much later than they should have with priority, with a $12 shipping cost on the label when I paid $42. When I asked the community if they could get away with this, they pretty much said it was my fault.

ANYWAY
crazy stalker lady needs a visit from the police, yo.

I know this, but now my husband is being difficult. He says nothing will be done (and he knows better than most, right?). He says if we get the card back then we have to obtain a writing sample from her and then they pretty much won't do anything. The most we'd be able to do is file the report and have all the evidence and she'd know that we know. A little face to face confrontation. She'd still have our address and my husband says nothing would be accomplished. I think he's just sick of everything and just wants to move on, ya know? I just wish there was somehow I could get her to stop shilling and/or treating others the way she has treated my family and sleepyowl.

I mean, just check out how much she's been shill bidding on this auction: 221244271169

Yea I know your husband is probably right.  I hate to say it, but experience of my own resulted in nothing being done either. This is why I have a Po box now, but I still have not converted everything over to it yet.  I will say this that eventually these people are caught but, often its not until they have a trail of damage behind them.  All of that is so unnecessary if people would just step up and eliminate the problems before they start.  I am really sorry this is going on.  What I hope is that this person will give up eventually.  Perhaps they will lose interest in their obsession with you and move on.  Honestly, its not like they are ever going to know how you feel about all these magazines..so your reaction isn't going to feed their behavior any.  Just keep lots of records.  This whole thing is just so unfair.

Those people on the boards are so rude! But I'm leaving for vacation later today, so I don't have to worry about them! Two weeks away from this craziness! Woohoo! Hopefully my mother-in-law won't have to field any new magazines from our mailbox while we're away. And if anyone wants to keep reporting lieubug's shill bidding in my place while I'm gone, have at it! I won't have access to a computer most days.

I had a feeling it was going to be like that anyhow. Working at a newspaper, I saw how those boards were just filled with trolls and all they could do every day was bash the writers' stories and the people in them. I just couldn't read the boards after a while because I realized how hateful and rude people really are!

The whole world has gone insane! I can't even begin to comment about the people on eBay, my gosh! how can people be so unreasonable, it's like conversing with a 3 year old "Yes, but the shipping..."    /facepalm

I agree, just drop the whole ebay thing, and bide your time to report this person. I understand that your husband is tired of all this, but he is a police officer and this woman is crazy. It is his duty to do something about her breaking the law ans harassing other people (I'll bet you're neither first nor last). I hope that you can just forget all this on your vacation and that a slip confirming her identity will wait for you. She at least needs to get a warning that what what she is doing could get her into real trouble.

I'm actually sorry I suggested it, Bluerose! Ebay AU forums are really good. There's the odd moron, but everyone tries to see it from both sides, and issues are usually resolved well. I'd never been to the US forum before, but assumed it would be the same. idiots.

No problem. I had never actually been to the forums before and now I feel like the experience is behind me and I can move on. And I got a very nice message from a seller in California who as very encouraging about my whole situation. She said the forum people are just idiots and to ignore them.

OT a bit, speaking on experience of the ebay boards, I was told I was in the wrong the two times I posted on them my problems so I never bothered with them again! Bunch of ebay drones! Hopefully no more magazines are mailed to you (fingers crossed!)

Well I can certainly agree with that! That forum is just insane.

(This is kinda an extreme way to view the situation, but whenever I see people leaving comments like that in a forum, I am always reminded of that scene in 'To Kill a Mockingbird' where the young protagonist sees an angry mob out for blood and is able to 'wake them up' by talking to them... Humans can be so wrapped up in themselves when they feel they're justly defending others in their own group, they just act completely insane... even if they're totally normal in 'real life'. )

Sorry you had to go through something like this :(

Looks like the harasser has shown up on the TP to harass Bluerose there. She used her yahoo email address with her name in it as her username.  Well.. now we have a name and a location for her..She lived in Bainbridge, Ohio.

(Not that I know what to do with this information.. but.. yanno. Maybe it's not even her.. )

I already knew she was from Bainbridge. I'm not surprised at her harassment. That's a given but I still haven't looked at the thread for days. Report her if she gets out of hand. I never mentioned her name. So at this point, what she says I can just use against her.

I just did a quick google of her ebay user name, and up pop the MLPTP threads about her, so that's how she found it, I suppose. :( This just totally sucks. Jewel addressed it quite nicely.

She certainly is a firecracker calling me a liar. It only means she realizes people are really onto her scam and she can't fool everyone. MBJ's response was great. Very admirable!

The relevant members in this situation need to take the situation up with each other directly and off forum. Or report it. Or whatever is entailed. This thread is locked as being unable to reach a conclusion here on the Arena. I hope a resolution can be found and my apologies for having to lock the thread.
