Feedback and Suggestions Please

I'm doing my first custom from an HQG1 blank. The tail was relatively easy to secure with elastic and zip ties, but the head took 2 hours. I secured the hair with fabric tack glue, but I still get some hair strands slide out when I try to comb it. I've added more, but I'd welcome any suggestions on how to make the hair brushable and not fall out of her head.

I'd also love to hear opinions on the color scheme and name symbol suggestions.

I dampen the hair inside the head and then spread some Gorilla glue on it.  Swells up and that hair is stuck.

Some fallout from the hair is bound to happen. If you're getting entire plugs that fall from her head, you can always touch them up later, but you can also tie the hair on the inside of the head. I used to use a doll needle to put the hair in, but this takes MUCH longer than using the tool and glue method.

Those are very nice colors! She reminds me of Mirror Mirror for some reason...

I love the colors! Her hair reminds me of Sparkler's (one of my faves!). Ragamuffin's comment makes me think a chalice and grapes would be a fitting symbol for her.

She also reminds me of grapes or autumn fruits - lovely! I use PVA glue because I like to be able to change it later if I like. I find it's OK for brushing but you do have to make sure you work it into the hair inside with a nail stick and then leave it for a few days to dry thoroughly.

Frabi-tac isn't a good choice for this kind of thing. I use Alene's Tacky Glue and really work it into the hair with a q-tip. Really slather it on. The sides, down the center, on the loop tops - everywhere. I usually let it sit for at least 24 hours. I can brush my customs hair just fine.

She's very pretty, really nice colors. I also think a wine/grape theme would look good on her.

This is what I do as well.  Usually it takes several days to dry, I'm in an area that is fairly humid.  But yes, you may get hairs falling out that just never made it into the plug holes.

I really like the color scheme!  Reminds me of Twilight Sparkle.  Maybe a space theme like hers?  Or a candy theme could be nice...or like others suggested, grapes.  Maybe a variety of fruits?

I use all-purpose overnight glue on my Custom manes. Aside from the odd few strands (which is normal) all the hair holds fine the next day

Mod Podge will hold your hair inside, but needs some time to dry fully.

Of course! I got it from LadyMoonDancer's Tumblr; https://heckyeahponyscans.tumblr.com/post/175971871278. I cut out the image, erased the background, and did some recoloring/adjusting, so it matched my childhood Twisty Tail a little bit better, then erased the background and then cropped it.
