Prepping larger size G5s?
« on: December 18, 2021, 09:20:11 AM »
I purchased a rainbow reveal Sunny to customize, but I'm stumped regarding tail access.  Does anyone know if the tail is just pushed in through the tail-hole and glued in there?  Or do you access it through the neck?  It seems like her body is solid so I doubt if it is the latter, but maybe?

Also: wow, the hair quality on the mane is awesome, I almost can't bear to cut it off to prep her ;_;

I did assume that you may have to remove the neck peg part and access it that way like small g4's.
I only have one Izzy so far (gift from my bf so I'm never doing anything to her) and now that you mention it it does seem like the middle part of the pony is solid.
When I squish her near her neck it does seem a bit hollow so now I'm not sure how it works. Maybe they have a hole in the neck for the peg and they have a hole near the tail to squish the tail inside? It does seem a bit weird.

I just posted my first G5 custom. Yes, to remove the tail you have to pull out the neck peg. The body isn’t solid but the walls are very thick, and the legs are solid. To remove the tail, I pulled the neck peg out and twisted the tail at the base while pushing it into the body. It was a lot of work, but eventually I was able to push it into the body enough to grab the base of it though the neck hole with some long needle nosed pliers.

The link to my post above has some pics of the body that I took apart but I don’t think I had the tail out in those pics.

Thanks everyone, that was really useful.  Glad to know she isn't fully solid but I do feel like opening the neck will be a challenge... Probably not as hard as the head hole, though!  Thanks again.  :art:
