Oxibath for water color baby sea ponies?
« on: September 11, 2021, 09:46:54 AM »
Has anyone tried it? I have a baby Misty that needs a thorough inside cleaning--and haven't been able to fully detach her head--but am a bit concerned how Oxiclean might affect the unique hair on the water colors...

Hmm. I wouldn't risk it, unless someone comes in and says it's okay. Oxi will take the coating off TE's eyes and I think it's affects chartreuse hair (surprise, etc.).

If it's just the inside that needs it, you could put a little bit of Oxi water inside her and shake it, keeping your finger over her mane so none comes out the holes. Also, have you tried using bottle brushes? They come in different sizes and are perfect for cleaning the inside of a pony :) You can usually find them with the baby bottles or in the aquarium section of a pet store.

I wouldn't risk it. Try toothpaste with an old toothbrush, then soap and water to remove. Magic eraser on tough marks, avoiding paint. Hair conditioner, rinse off. Style while damp. Dry inside and out, then rub in a thin layer of baby oil to the plastic.

I poked around but can't find any record of effects on their hair, so now I kind of want to seek one out. For Science.

If it's not for Science I would definitely avoid it. :P

Thanks everyone! I do have bottle brushes, etc. but my issue is that I can't remove her head enough to get any tools inside. Arghh!

I may try "pumping"--not sure what to call this-- the oxi solution into her, avoiding the hair.

Or maybe I'll test the oxi on a inconspicuous strand or two...

Will report back with results!
