Re-root tool help
« on: August 20, 2021, 01:33:21 AM »
Hi, can anyone recommend a re-root tool for me?
I don’t know where to buy one and I’ve been using needles by cutting the ends of the eyes, however they keep braking on me 😞
Any help please x

I swear by this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264738627842?hash=item3da3a6e102:g:togAAOxyOa9R0em4
It's the strongest tool I know of. It's simple, & does the job. When you get one you get the email address of the seller as well as price listings (in USD) of replacement needles, as well as instructions. It's great for normal-sized heads, & works on harder heads too.
My Mascots (so far): Twisty Tail, G2 Trixiebelle, Starcatcher, Twilight Sparkle. All variants & pictures of these are appreciated. Piccies courtesy of Griffin, Blumiere, Littlebabyribbon, & Starscout

If you're breaking your cut needles, you'll have the same issues with reroot tools.
Do you soften the vinyl with a hairdryer and do you widen the plugs with a small spike beforehand ? That will minimise the breakage.  ;)

Take care !
Rose.

I use darning needles to make my own reroot needles :)

Sometimes you need a hotwater bottle/hairdryer to soften up the pony.

I do as you do, making needles myself.  I've found that they either break pretty quickly or last a reeeeaaaallly long time.  I assume it has to do with the construction of the needle?  I also pre-enlarge plug holes with a pushpin/thumbtack immediately before pushing the reroot needle+hair into the hole. I haven't tried heating the pony head...

I make Rerooting tools and use them for rehairing without warming up the plastic (for G1 ponies) and they work great. I supply them with a spare needle too.

Most of the time when they break its down to the type/brand of needle used. I’ve done a lot of trial and error!!
