How to replace a happy tails pony tail?

Hello everyone,

I got my happy tails squeezer a good while back with cut and faded hair. Her tail has been cut  and faded too. Her mechanism is present but does not function properly.

Does anyone know how to replace her tail and still have her gimmick?

Please let me know if you know.
