My dad said he wanted French toast sticks for breakfast.  They tasted terrible to me.  I felt like I was  just eating pieces of dough.  :X

The technology at work didn't function like it was supposed to.

Today was my morning to sleep in but the smoke alarm has been beeping since 3am every minute or so.  Now I'm wide awake even though it's too early.

^ I woke up with one about a week ago, it's progressed into an ulcer. Worst part is it rubs my teeth and makes my ear itchy.

My complaint is my stompy, screamy, noisy neighbor. She woke me up at 4am and was at it until 6:30 or so. Even when I had my fan turned all the way up, I couldn't hear her voice anymore but I could still hear the bumps and ...whatEVER she does. Throw furniture? Slam cupboards? I dunno. So I got up, fed my cat, played on my PC.

She did finally stop and I went back to bed.

Couldn't you report her somewhere?

I have called the police twice on her already. The management of the complex won't do anything without a paper trail unless it's something immediately dangerous. I'm surprised her downstairs neighbor doesn't report her enough. You'd think if we both were calling the police on her, they would give her a warning or something.

She's at it again, my neighbor. She was moving something heavy around the kitchen floor and it was making this stretchy-screechy sound. She woke me up from my nap/very early bedtime. Plus, she's yelling at someone. It's only 8pm so she isn't violating noise ordinances.

My ear is very itchy from the sore in my mouth. I know there is nothing actually wrong with my ear, it's a radiating irritation, but I still want to try and scratch it. Resisting is driving me mad.

I bought some Starbucks doubleshot espresso energy drinks. I drank one earlier hoping it would give me a boost so I could pick up the bedroom a bit. I need to move the bookcase out of there and into the living room, but there is stuff in the way at the moment. Anyway, after about 20 minutes I didn't feel any different - if anything, I was more sleepy. I drink coffee with espresso (Café Bustelo) in the mornings but not to wake up. It takes time for me to wake up whether I'm drinking coffee or not. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised an espresso drink didn't do anything. Still, I bought 4 of them and even on sale they were $2.50 each. My regular coffee is cheaper than that, I could have bought 6 bricks. Oh well. At least they taste good.

This annoyed me.  It's not really minor, but I don't feel like a massive post on the subject.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-58626945

It seems very much to be yet another study on superficially normalising an autistic child's social presentation, rather than actually doing something to really make a difference to that child.

Rant in spoiler tags.

Spoiler

Autistic kids mimic neurotypical behaviour anyway. It's a survival skill. To fit in, to be safe, to not stand out, to please the people around them. It's absolutely not a surprise that autistic kids would follow the lead pressed upon them and learn the behaviours pushed their way. We can superficially mimic neurotypical behaviour. I've been doing it my whole life. In every job I've had with people, only one colleague ever sussed me out and she was a disability specialist. It doesn't mean my social interaction is 'fixed', just because I know how to play a part.

On the contrary, it's actually made it harder to get support because I can interact normally and people think that means I don't need help. And I know I'm not the only one in this situation.

But until the kid is sixteen or eighteen and trying to work out how to do things for themselves, it's just not possible to say that they don't meet the criteria for autism. These exercises focus on normalising behaviour, not dealing with the underlying issues, such as with executive function, or memory, or other kinds of hypersensitivity (eg diet).

I hate studies like this. I hate that people want studies like this. I hate that people fund studies like this. I hate that people don't try to find out all the issues with autism. If they really want to support children to find coping strategies at an early age, at the very least take all of the issues and look at them. Don't just try to normalise kids to suit your own agenda and then call it a triumph.

My laptop / MS Word decided to crash precisely at the moment I got a job done and was about to save the file...  :dumbpc: And of course I'd been stupid again and had not saved often enough. Had to repeat a couple of hours' work of adding internal references to this book I'm editing. *sigh*  Luckily I had my notes in a separate file so I'm pretty sure nothing crucial was lost, and I was able to add the references back in. Redoing stuff is still annoying.

The autumn is coming after our brief summer, and I don’t like the sudden chill, and the clouds blocking the sunlight. I’d prefer if we eased into it but nope! Suddenly the cold is coming, and I am not happy.
This. Sentence. Is. False! Dontthinkaboutitdontthinkaboutit.

Went to JoAnn's and found some things that said they were on sale but when I checked my receipt, they didn't ring up as on sale so now I have to go back affter work and find out why.  I thought it was a bit expensive but as my lunch was over and I had to get back (and the cashier was very slow) I didn't check it right then.  :pout:

My kids just keep bickering over the most annoying trivial things, they have been at it for 2 hours. Every comment from one triggers a bunch of disagreement comments from the other two.

I had back to back phone calls all day for work. My ears hurt from having my headset on and I have a headache after listening to constant conversation for 8+ hours. Would like to just sit in silence.... but see first comment
