I caved & ordered Lickety Split today, she is due to be delivered sometime tonight....

So looking forward to the TE release! I am curious regarding how BF will construct the eyes - whether they will follow the existing design (the long peg-shaped insert thingy) or have some new way to "bling" those sockets!  :)

Could you imagine the head-explodiness (tm) if Mimic came out?!

It might get pretty hairy out there, trying to acquire her.

If SDCC went on, I could see them making her an exclusive or something.
Why don't they license out TE for stuff?? Seriously, it's always rainbow ponies and such. Mimic is an icon now!

Because its better if she were made available to the general public. There's a pandemic still going on. Pony prices on eBay are getting expensive because of greedy  people. It would tick off the collector community. Scalpers would be flipping her for outrageous sums. It would hurt people's chances of acquiring her tremendously.

Let's not wish for an outrageously expensive pony,  to be outrageously expensive and hard to acquire right off the bat.

I think it would be better if they flooded the market with a Mimic remake.  Make one of the others the "rare" one in the set that was common on it's original release.  Then at first the scalpers would stock up on Mimic (belatedly realizing that it was going to be super common) and ignore the others so the collectors could get them all without issues.

Let's be real... They could make 1000 Mimics or 10, scalpers are gonna scalp them no matter what.

I'm so happy they're making more of these! I wonder if they might ever go back on the decision to cancel the flutter pony set? :lookround:

How come Hasbro is not selling them? I would love to trip on over to Hasbro Pulse and buy me some pretty ponies.

Don't expect them to start making sense now.

So... If ebay has them, where are they getting them from? Still only Meijer and Cracker Barrel? Do they even sell them anymore?

It is interesting they haven't caved on that, considering they do seem more interested now than they did in retro.

On the Mimic front, I may sound like a broken record, but there's little chance that BF is going to make Mimic while the base material to create her is so expensive. Aside her having a pose that requires a brand new mould, and a complex colour scheme to get right, all the BF products so far have relied on them buying a few of the originals to work from. Mimic is a really expensive pony. We don't know BF's financial situation since COVID and with the issues with Chinese importations and tariffs, but one thing is for sure. It makes more economic sense to mass produce Fizzy for $10 a time if they can get a couple of original Fizzys for a handful of dollars...than to mass produce Mimic for $10 when they spent $200+ on ONE base (also taking that base out of the community).

Wishful thinking is fine but only if it stays in the realms of business reality.

On the other hand, a SDCC or another high end exclusive COULD be profitable from a rare pony like Mimic. But I don't see it happening. I don't think she's iconic enough, honestly. She's an expensive and sought after pony in collecting terms but in the bigger picture, there are others who are more iconic - and a lot cheaper to produce.

Not that I personally mind if Mimic is or isn't made. If she is, great. If she isn't, great. I just don't want people getting optimistic and then disappointed because I feel like it's really unlikely...

Mimic's price is also so high now because of 20 years+ of collector hype. I've watched it over the last two decades as people have paid and asked more and more for her :/

The only way to bring her value down is for all collectors to refuse to pay those prices or sell for those prices. That's probably just as unlikely as BF making a $10 one though...it's probably damage too deep to reverse now.

On topic with the last set of earths, they've all been available from amazon or online stores here. I went in Entertainer yesterday and they had Sunbeam, the last time a few weeks back they had Medley, so they're still stocking that wave (but apparently selling them as the pony had changed between visits). Entertainer is fond of keeping things on shelves till it finally sells, no matter how old it is, so that's probably not a good indication of anything...
