So like, when do you think we'll start seeing other species in toy form? I'm curious about the pegasus and alleged unipegs.

I'm also curious what other species might make a comeback. I'd really like to see sea ponies, (not the misnamed g4 ones, those are mermaid ponies) come back. As well as flutters with stronger wings. Wingers too. And yes, new merponies.
I'd LOVE to have some new wingers or flutter ponies!! G4 did have insect-type ponies in the form of breezies, but those always felt like accessories rather than proper ponies to me (I'm not sure they even had their own names...)

Some of them had names like "Sea Breezie", "Sunset Breezie" etc but yeah most of the G4 Breezies were unnamed.

I'd love to see Breezies make a comeback, as long as they can actually STAND this time round!! Love the G4 Breezies, but their total lack of balance makes it sooo difficult to display them ^^;

It makes me sad that in the recent generations they start to look less and less like horses.... :T

I'm honestly hoping for some kind of blind bag sized ones. I have always felt the blind bags have always done the best job of translating the cartoon design to toy form.

I'm tired of blind bags. I understand they're a quick way to make an easy buck, but so many neat designs get relegated strictly to them. I don't want blind bags.

TBH, building on what Wardah said, it would be lovely if all the animation related stuff was promoted in blind bag and allowed more creativity in the brushable line that didn't require it to fit in with the 'main cast' standards.

Though blind bags have only been around for G4, it does seem like they did a good job of reflecting the wide cast, which the brushable line never even attempted.

So I'm fine with blind bags so long as all the diversity of character isn't restricted to that format this time.

Blind Bags actually started with G3.5 but those were only available in Europe.

I think this would be a happy medium. Some of the more animation-inclined folk don't care much for the brushable hair for accuracy reasons, while people who care less about accuracy are more happy with a toy you can play around a bit with. It was nice when they did the Friendship is Magic collection for blind bags, too, that felt like it should have been there since the start.

What I don't get is why they aren't just naturally like this? *sigh*

Yeeeah, but concerning that we all know Hasbro has been distinctly un-awesome, in regards to  proper toy balancing since 3.5 onwards.

I did a quick sketch using some of my fave design elements from previous generations. I really love the hooves and eyebrows of gen 5 but I would like it if they had a bit more of a "horsey" look. :D
