pony Life is the G4.5 or G5?

well, we couldn't really decide WHAT to call the 2017 redesign. I saw lots of names thrown around... But Hasbro are calling Pony Life "G4.5" so that settles it, IMO.

Did we ever settle on a name for the 2017 ones? I know the most common suggestions were "Movie" or "Reboot" but idk if we ever came to a consensus on that. I think "Movie" is probably the clearest name for it?

I've always called them "reboot" but movie makes sense too.
I still think the originals look more like the cartoons, funny enough.

I call them "reboot" too and I kinda like that better, since they went on for a while *after* the movie, but I'm not sure if it isn't confusing since G4.5 could be considered a reboot, too :s So that's why I'm leaning more towards calling them "movie" now.

I'm sticking to Ponylife as PL at the moment. I've also seen reboot or movie pose for the last redesign. It's a tricky one, but  since G4 is so animation based, I'm working on G4: FIM, G4: EQG and G4: PL as my terms right now. I think we'll only really be able to determine 4.5 when G5 begins, if it indeed does.

Hasbro has never defined G terminology. They have just borrowed it now they know we use it.

The concept of G terms came from this community, back at the start of G3.

I feel like giving Hasbro the right to decide all these things now - on labels we devised for our collecting - is like saying it was ok when Hascon superseded the Pony Fair.

It's not the biggest deal on the planet, but I still think it matters that - even if we agree with 4.5 in the end - we come to that conclusion ourselves, not "because Hasbro said so".

I guess in my eyes the best way to describe Pony Life would be g4.5, as it’s more or less going to be the swan song of that generation. It reminds me a lot of g3.5, even with the characters progressively becoming more chibi in their last iteration of that generation.

It didn't make sense to me to call the updated G4 look as 4.5, because that was just an update to the look, and nothing else. The old design was getting pretty old and stagnant because it had been around so long. It really needed to evolve to continue to sit on the shelves.

I think it makes sense to call Pony Life 4.5, because I feel like it's obvious it's a inbetweener show/toyline. But I suppose a majority of the community needs to feel comfy with it first.
