MO Napper MIP...should I free her? ...and maybe Price Check, please?

Hello Ponies,

I just restarted my interest in ponies and my collection of G1 Ponies and found my MO Napper mint in her package. I normally didn’t collect MiBs or MIPS because I love to touch my ponies but I also love them in the newest condition possible and complete with their accessories. I think that was why I bought her..
Now I really need to hold me back not to open her package...
I know that her value will be lower after opening..but how much would it be?
I have no idea in pricing at the moment....
Any ideas what her price is right now out of the package and MIP?
Would it be crazy to free her?

Like you, I prefer my ponies out of packaging.  If I were in your situation I would sell her and buy one that is loose.

I have the rare opinion that I'm ok if people open their MIB/MIP ponies if there is a good enough reason.

But I think it's possible to find the pony, and her accessories in good condition instead... so it would be better to sell the MIP one to someone who wants her that way, and use that money to find her loose.

I think it’s unanimously.
So in case I would sell her...what would be the prizing for her right now?
And is it easy to find her out of package right now? I think her ribbon could be difficult to find, right?

I agree with everyone else.  If she is stilled sealed MIP sell her to someone that will enjoy her as she is and find a nice loose one that you can handle without guilt.

I think if you prefer loose ponies, the best thing is absolutely to sell your MIP to someone else and use the money to buy a pretty loose one.

We have limited ponies left for G1, not just for MIP collectors but also for information going forward as to what ponies came with what. Opening a MIP pony is the same to a MOC collector as cutting the hair off a Nirvana pony, or scribbling all over Rapunzel. Even if you don't like it, someone else probably will, and that's the beauty of community.

Taffeta, yes I know what you mean. If she would be MOC I wouldn’t even ask because I would not love to destroy the beautiful card...but she is a Mail Order and I really don’t like to see her in this  plastic bag
But I think you are all right and she should belong to a person that collects MIPs.
Oh well I know it will be a tough thing to find her yellow gold trimmed ribbon..I know it was tough to find the ones for my second set of princess Ponies

You can buy a loose mail order Napper for $50-70. I haven't seen a MIP mail order sparkle ponies come up on eBay in the last few months, but I think there were some from the set within the last year. Someone else may have kept track of it. If I had to guess I'd say somewhere in the range of $150-250 for her MIP, but hopefully someone else can tell you what she has sold for in the last year or so.

Her ribbon & comb together will be harder to find than her, but it is certainly possible. I have acquired 3 of the Mail Order Sparkle ponies combs with ribbons still attached (including Napper's) within the last year or two so it is possible to find them.
