MLP Commercial Archiving

I'm probably one of only a few people who cares about MLP commrecials, but for the past couple of months I've been working on archiving every single one from G1-G3, and I think I've found all of the ones I can on my own. If anyone here has a link or a file of any commercials that I'm missing, or a higher quality version of one I already have, I would really appreciate the help. I'm archiving commercials in all languages, as well as regional variations (American/Canadian/English and stuff like that).

I'm also tentatively going to post the link to a Google drive folder with downloaded versions of almost all the commercials. I say tentatively because I'm not sure about the legality or ethics of it all. Is it okay to download files that people have uploaded if they didn't make the original video? What about removing channel watermarks? I really don't know. The folder contains higher quality versions of quite a few of the listed commercials, since I've spent a while with color correction, background noise removal, cropping and resizing, and I'm quite proud of them so I'll post the link for now.

I'm afraid of media like this being lost, and if there is some official Hasbro commercial database or whatever then I've never heard of it, so any help with my little project is appreciated!

Some of those G2 playsets were crazy, & I'd never seen before! Were all of those produced? Maybe just very rare?

You're not alone.
While I don't know how interested most people are in these, I've been hunting them down since the late 1990s, when Kim Shriner was kind enough to trade me a VHS of all the US ones she had from her childhood videos. I hunt up anything that relates to pony history!

 There are also a couple of UK ones on official VHS releases that are here somewhere. Unfortunately the tech back in the early 2000s didn't allow me to transfer Kim's VHS to my PC in colour (NTSC to PAL issue) but I did have the sound track for some of them and had some stills on my old site.

I know the Crimp & Curl one is on a UK VHS tape release.

I'm only really interested in G1 and mostly now from the Euro and UK perspective so I haven't been as diverse as you. I am not sure if you have included the Y2 earth pony commercial from the UK on your list, and you may be missing the UK Ponywear commercial which is NOT on youtube on its own but is in the middle of a UK aired documentary, I think it's called I Love 1983. It used to be on YT, not sure if it still is

UK 1984 earth pony commercial is still on YT (Y2 Earth Ponies in the US, which is I guess why someone datestamped it 1983,  but these were 1984 in the UK).

I love MLP commercials.  One of my top favorites is the UK
Ponywear one that Taffeta mentioned.  I haven’t looked at your list yet but there are several G1/G2 commercials in French on Youtube ( I learned how to say My Little Pony in French from them ) and also a Water Color Baby Sea ponies one in German.

Yeah, the CGI models tend to look a little odd lol. Still cute though, in their own way. And as far as I know all of those G2 sets were produced, but most were only in Europe, the lucky ducks. I'm not sure how large their releases were either, so maybe they're pretty rare even in Europe, I don't know.

Thank you so much for the link, Taffeta! I had a look for that documentary with the ponywear as well, and I was able to find it! It's in this video and is fortunately right at the beginning. I'm planning to use a VPN to trick my computer into thinking I'm in the UK, and I'm hoping that will help me find a couple more UK commercials. Oh, and what year was the ponywear released in the UK? Was it really 1983?

I think I was able to find most of the G1/G2 French commercials since they're mostly uploaded by one person, but I'll double check their channel to make sure. I had a look and unfortunately couldn't find the German one, but I'll keep looking. Thanks for the tip!

Sorry if I posted any you already had. I don't have a way of isolating these out of the batches. I've uploaded a few myself (the 2nd edition Princess Pony one is my upload) and I also have a VHS from Kim with commercials, somewhere. If only I could find out where it went. The ponywear in question is from 1985. The ponies are the UK equivalent of the release in the US for year 3, with the collector pose AJ and BT instead, so that dates it to 1985 and no earlier.

But documentary makers are not that fussy about facts

Here's Dream Valley's commercial list. There's no video, but there are lyrics, and  it could act as a checklist of sorts. I already know it's incomplete, since there is more than one version of the Baby Ponies commercial; still, it does give you something to work with.

I can't find the Water Color Babies German one.  I remember one line was something like "My babies aren't too young for swimming" when it was translated in to English.

I think it might be Czech (though Czech and Slovak are very similar and mutually intelligible). I find that very interesting as I was collecting info about ponies in Europe at one time, especially the Central and Eastern European countries that tend to get a bit ignored in pony history. I think there was a translation of the pony cartoon into Czech, but I'm not sure if I ever found proof of ponies being sold there. But of course this advert is proof, so yay
I imagine that due to political events, ponies weren't available there until after 1989. I remember reading that Poland also only had ponies in the '90s.

@MintyMyndi, thanks for the rainbow link. I agree, that's probably the same as the UK commercial only dubbed (apart from the end point, which is obviously for the German market).

It's like the Brush & Grow Princess one in French is probably the same as the UK one as it intersperses stuff about the nail polish and lipstick which we and the French had with that release and the US release didn't. I have a feeling the French commercial skips between US film with the prototype Star Gleamer and then European footage with a proper pose one? Can't recall exactly.

...I also remember Princess Taffeta and co being in the UK ad for Kiss Curl's parlour as they spliced it from the US one, but covered it with UK price labels so it suggests those princesses were sold here. Very confusing...
