Sea Pony ID
« on: December 03, 2020, 07:39:06 AM »
Hey guys, my fiancé’s friend just gave me her childhood herd which is the sweetest thing ever to me, but I digress. She had quite a few sea ponies and I’m confused on one of them. I’m fairly sure this is due to fading and they’re the same pony, but the difference is very drastic so I wanna be sure. Sea ponies are one of the sets I’m not super familiar with and I’ve borked IDs before when it comes to them.

So am I correct? These are both the same pony? My original one is the severely faded one that I had found at a flea market and the striking purple and pink one is the one from my fiancé’s friend.

It does look like two Surf Riders. Her hair looks so bright on the one! A lot of the pictures online have her hair as nearly completely white.

Right?! Her whole herd is in such pristine condition. But I think that’s part of why I was getting confused is because all the pics I was finding online of her looked like mine! But the backcard art looked like hers! I’ll have to make a brag post to show off the entire herd once I clean them up I think <_<

I agree, I think it's a Surf Rider. I was squinting at your photo to make sure there was no sign of any necklace in case it was a very faded out sea sparkle, but that was a long shot. Surf Rider is the most likely answer.

THe pink haired one is gorgeous :) Congrats on adding her to your herd.

My guess would be surf rider and wavy.  Can you move the mane on the more vivid colored one so we can see the chest?

The vivid coloured one is definitely Surf Rider, even without seeing her chest :)

Wavy is a much darker colour with coral hair:

The one I was wondering about is the faded one and Seaspray, but she'd have to be very faded and have lost her necklace completely, so I think she's also Surf Rider.

Neither look pearlised although the US had a pearly and a regular Surf Rider...I don't suppose there's any pearl residue on either baby?

I did check for pearlescent residue near the hair plugs and the embossed area with the copyright but there is no remnants anywhere that I can see.
Here’s some close ups of their necks where the necklace would be stamped.
