4-Speed with Hand-Painted Symbol?

Hey there! Long time no chat - I've taken some time away from the hobby and am back, unpacking after a move, having rediscovered my collection.

I don't know if this is the right board to post in, but upon closer inspection, I realized that my 4-Speed seems to have a hand-painted symbol. I know I didn't do this, and I generally never bought restorations or anything like that, so now I'm wondering what's up with him!

Do we think this is a case of someone having tried their hand at customizing? Is it a factory test or original of some sort? I feel silly even asking, but I haven't been here in 10+ years so I wondered if there's a variation I may have forgotten!

Could be that his symbol was jacked up and someone tried their hand at redoing it.

The rational part of me says that it was an undisclosed restore, but there's another part that would inspect him thoroughly for anything resembling a variation, because who knows? Maybe... But probably not. These sort of things excite me! If there's anything else off about him, I'd find that other part trying as hard as it can to make something out of nothing... or something... but probably nothing... but, perhaps...

I'd bet money on that undisclosed restore.

Those were my thoughts exactly, MintyMyndi! Either way, I think he's a bit more special this way - just helps to know for sure!
