Brush and grow customs?
« on: November 13, 2020, 07:21:59 PM »
Has anyone attempted to customize a brush and grow pony? How on earth does one go about removing the head without breaking the mechanism??

Yeah... I vaguely remember someone doing a custom of one and it still worked too. There is/was a tutorial about how to take them apart and fix the mechanism years ago. I might be able to dig it up.

I have 2. 1 is a definitive bait pony (she’s in rough shape!), but both of the growing tails still work, so I’d like to avoid breaking them lol.

I haven't done one myself but there is some info on their inner workings here: http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/misc.html#BrushNGrow

Oh man I've not customized one but I've fixed one, and just as it says on the MLP preservation project that little tip of plastic is really a trick to fix securely.  Here's another one on how to fix that dang broken part http://www.alaska.net/~jnoble/sailaway/spa/BNGRepair.html

It's so fragile I'm not super sure it's possible to get one of these guys apart without just having to fix that later.

Breaking the mechanism isn't really that bad because you can cut the line between the pony plastic and the mechanism plastic and remove the broken part with long needle nose pliers. I broke all my mechanisms on the customs I've done but I reglued the piece (you need a very good glue for that though which bonds excellently on the plastic) and the customs still work.
