Pony-Scale Non-Pony Playsets
« on: November 02, 2020, 08:53:43 AM »
My wish to create supermarkets for all my ponies is unfortunately too strong and the playsets only get me so far.
I know G4 ponies can fit in the Woodzeez/Calico critters stuff, but what about G1 and G3? Are there any nice playsets or miniatures that are scaled for them?

Have you looked at Zuru Mini Brands/Toy Brands?  They are miniature versions of supermarket items and toys. There is also a supermarket playset but it is expensive (around $40 for a place to store Mini Brands).  I don’t have the playset so I’m not sure if the scale would be right for ponies.  I have some Mini Brands. I could take a pic with them next to a pony so you can see the scale. :D

I also have some mini brands! I wish they would make more food and less toiletries...
I didn't know there was a mini mart set! I'll have to see how big it is, I wish it had more walls.

The Mini Brands vary in scale, so some work better than others.

Another nice little thing for miniatures are the sports-themed bouncy balls you find at Party City. The baseball's too big, but the others are a great size!

The YouTube channel MyFroggyStuff is always on the lookout for things that work well in miniature, showing them off as "fun finds." If you don't mind making things yourself, the have a ton of tutorials for making furniture and objects for dolls, which can easily be scaled to fit anything. A lot of things look pretty realistic, and others are super easy to make. Sometimes, you get both! They even have printables for things that aren't so easily handcrafted. They also review dolls, so if you're into dolls, they are pretty good at pointing out pros and cons. Seriously, if you haven't watched them before, I highly recommend them!
Here's my ACNH creator code. I thought I might share it, since I have quite a few pony designs.

Miniature hunting for Pony accessories is a lot of trial & error. For some things you can go 1/12 scale, but for others 1/6 is better, while yet more are a different scale...
My Mascots (so far): Twisty Tail, G2 Trixiebelle, Starcatcher, Twilight Sparkle. All variants & pictures of these are appreciated. Piccies courtesy of Griffin, Blumiere, Littlebabyribbon, & Starscout

I found the Mini Brands was on the small side for G1.  Might work for G4.
For G1 I have the Shopkins Cutie O's mart playset.   It folds up when not in use like a cereal box.   When it's open it's huge.

I used to collect Re-ment(a Japanese miniature line).  They can be pricey, especially the older stuff.  However, they have the most incredible stuff.  The detail and creativity is insane.  And not just food, though food is their main thing.  The scale is pretty good for ponies. Not perfect, but close enough.  And they do make things like display cases and shelves to display the items.  These are high quality, but still mass produced miniatures.  They are sold in blind boxes new.  If you buy a sealed case(usually 6-10 boxes), you get the whole set.

They are available from ebay and several other Japanese import stores online.  There are also other brands besides Re-ment that sell similar quality items.  Just look around.

Here’s an example:
