Sunlight or No?
« on: September 17, 2020, 05:15:00 PM »
I've blocked the windows of my pony room so that no sunlight has a chance of fading hair, but I've noticed the plastic of some MOC/MIB ponies has yellowed. Is this because of the lack of sunlight, or something else that I can't control and I should keep the curtains shut?

Cheers  ^.^

Oh dear. The poor ponies.
I read somewhere that ponies don’t like harsh sunlight and that it damages them. I have never heard of a lack of sunlight damaging them.

I think it's just how the plastic ages. Sunlight and other factors may speed it up, but sometimes plastic just breaks down...

I think  it's just aging plastic. It seems to be hit and miss which bubbles go yellow.

Some sets seem particularly susceptible though.

Sadly there are some signs of pony aging we can't avoid ><

im wandering if heat plays a part in it, my moc ponywear yellowed in storage :( i also kept them away from any light.
however any kind of light are good for the bodies (9 out of 10 that is) and keeps them nice and bright but will fade that fading pink, other colours will be ok unless in direct sunlight or long exposure to most kinds of lighting.

i remember getting my yellowed glory and moondancers out, mommys and babies and had them out in a sunny room with no direct sunlight and they became bright white within days, and some coloured ponies colours became brighter also  ^.^

The darker, the better when it comes to a pony room.

Thanks for all the reassurance. It's a shame but I guess it's just inevitable, everything will break down in time... especially in Australian heat.

The darker, the better when it comes to a pony room.

This! I keep my G1s displayed in a walk-in closet. It's always a bit cooler than the rest of the apartment as it faces an outside wall, but I am concerned about built-up moisture in there.
