Body dyeing a pony with hair and tinsel?
« on: August 23, 2020, 01:04:12 PM »
I'm going to attempt to full body dye HQG1C Ocean Mist, but I don't want to risk melting her lovely tinsel, or dyeing her hair by accident. How can I minimize that please?
Thanks to TheRockinStallion for my Ponysona Artless

Following...hoping for advice from others on this as well. I've been told the hair needs to come out, but I'd be interested if anyone has tried and been successful.

The only thing I can think of is coating the hair in petroleum jelly to protect it, and trying to submerge as little hair as possible. I know in the dental lab industry I used petroleum jelly or soft wax often to block areas I didn't want to stain when working with colored acrylic, so maybe those techniques could be applied here successfully as well, but I haven't tried it. I think I might try it on a trashed fakie or something to experiment. I'll let you know if it works or not!
