I'm excited to see pics when you're done...I'm guessing this pony may need a wand and a white owl as side accessories?

I got more WIPs going...my Jurassic Park pony is coming along well, and my Christmas themed big brother pony is, too! I made the Christmas pony a wreath and a harness with presents on it...it took me all day for both but progress has been made!

I know!! But I’d really like to use something like a LPS owl (because of the huge adorable eyes) , but can’t find one anywhere. I’ll most likely make another with the owl and his bird cage! Just depends on if this one sells or not. Thinking of using some iridescent fabric for the invisible cape lol.

Another hint. The custom is a twinkle eye pony!!

Has anyone ever used many layers of clear sealant to create a 3D effect with the symbol(s)?

I'm thinking of trying something like this: full body repaint...2 coats of sealant...speckles of paint all over body...2 coats of sealant...symbols...2 coats of sealant.

Have you tried something like this?  Do you think anything bad could happen with this many sealant layers, or this sandwiching of paint between layers of sealant?  Should I use even more coats of sealant between paint layers?

I'm using vallejo acrylic model paints and vallejo polyurethane matt varnish if that helps.  Thanks for any info/tips!

Not a clue, but interesting idea.  Looking forward to others thoughts.
I suppose the G4 owl would be too small for Hedwig?   Oh bit might work for Ron's Pig?

Hmm maybe it could work? I may make another in g4 form. This one is G1! He should be complete tomorrow. Can’t wait to share photos!

Sounds interesting!! I thought that the only way to achieve this look would be with the clear glitter resin ponies.

Isn't there a thick mod podge that sort of looks like resin? I wonder if you could use that to mimic the look, can't speak on the sealant.
Gonna see how well basic fun Gusty takes dye tomorrow.

Oh yeah, mod podge could very well give the look I'm going for!  Thanks for the idea!  It's thicker than the sealant I use, so it would give more dimension I think.  I wonder how compatible it would be with a layer of the polyurethane over top.  Maybe I'll practice on something else before I do the pony.

I have an idea for a custom Mr. Potato Head.  Has anyone ever tried that before? All Google searches bring up potato heads that look like they used sculpey or another clay to create parts/colors.  I'm thinking of repainting existing parts instead so that the pieces can still be swapped out.

Also, my friend asked me for a custom G4 pony.  She texted me that it needed to be blue with a dinosaur head.  She later caught what she'd asked for and clarified that the cutie mark needed to have a dinosaur head.  I told her that's what I figured she meant but if she really wants it to have a dinosaur head I'm sure I could figure out how to do it.

Sounds like a wild idea but I'd love to see it!

And lol @ the dinosaur head pony! :lmao:

Basic Fun Gusty took the dye quite well, although it's a bit of a different tone than expected.
Sandstone would be an excellent shade for a gingerbread pony!
