I think G5 paint is much more stubborn. I've used the same stuff I use on G4 and such and I'm getting a lot more smears. I will emphasize the helpfullness of 100% acetone for sure, but I've also seemed to suck out some of the color of the plastic by removing the paint. There is no winning unless you're doing a FBR.

Ah yeah, I haven't worked with G5 yet (or G4 for that matter >.> ). I've pulled some color from G1s before. I thought I had a "rare" white Windy but when I cleaned her, there was purple color on my cotton ball.

Got a blister on my finger removing doll hair from a custom of Dodo from Doctor Who. I brought a doll for the head to go on to my petite Barbie looks doll and it doesn’t match the body.

I THOUGHT I noticed some color fading from the body, too....so it wasn't just my imagination!

I am a sucker for punishing myself.

Just finished the FBR on her, actually. I need to paint the wing feathers now, and then work on the small details. I think it's this point that always makes or breaks the custom for me, so I need to really take it slow and just work with tiny, tiny brushes.

I've prepped a cave kid for customizing. I'm excited to work on her more but the weather hasn't been right for using my sealant. Curse you winter!
I want to work on a custom pony but finding the right pony to use as well as having the right inspiration just hasn't happened.
I should look around for a cheap G4 or G5 since I've never customized either of them.
I also still need to figure out what to do about the split in my hybrid Ophelia's head and missing hair.
Does anyone know a place to get reasonably priced doll/pony hair? I'm really out of the loop with that side of things.

ETA:
Heard about Shimmer Locks in another thread so going to give them a try. If I like the hair enough then I will probably get more from them for other projects.

I really like Shimmerlocks! My main places are Shimmerlocks and TheDollPlanet. TDP has more selection but Shimmerlocks is just so, so fast and has a very easy system for getting G1 color matches.

Yeah, Shimmerlocks is great I like TheDollPlanet too. They're my go-tos these days.

I'm in a slump again due to RL stuff. I want to finish what I started but now is a bad time.

Haha I love the second panel. Sometimes getting that tail in is literally painful. I don't usually style my customs hair, maybe this is why, haha.
