Twinkle Eyes are back!...Kind of! But not really...!

There's a new set of gemstone-inspired pony blind boxes with some new ponies obviously taking inspiration from the Twinkle Eye set. The figure is removable from the ring.

Includes figures inspired by the My Little Pony: Pony Life show, as well as classic My Little Pony characters: Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash (featuring a fun sparkly finish!) Masquerade, Locket Key, Fluttershy, Magic Mimics, Bright Sun, Applejack, Fizzleshake, Rarity, and Sweet Sugar Pop (Each sold separately. Subject to availability.)

Locket is really the only one resembling her old self. The rest of the ponies seem to have different designs, such as "Fizzleshake" being pink, and "Magic Mimics" being... blue? "Sweet Sugar Pop" is blue at least. Here's Locket Key:

Upcoming Cadance brushable. Article says she should be around the size of that large styling Rarity from the first wave of G4.5 ponies. Kinda cute but I think I'm probably skipping on any G4.5s this large. Largest I'm willing to go with them is the normal fashion style size.

Wth is this? Also, they remind me of ring pops and those "crystal animal" toys. I think they were like LPS or something. Weird. Sweet Pop is probably the closest to her old self. Also, I was hoping this would be Basic Fun showing off their TEs. Bright Sun and Fizzleshake look completely new.

I actually really like the secret ring ponies—although not the blind packaging. XP It’s something different, with new characters. Depending on whether I can find a way to buy a full/complete case, I might get them.

Low-poly ponies? I think that's pretty neat. I'm not so sure about the blind bag aspect of them; perhaps they'll have an external letter or a sneaky way to peek (assuming there's more than one color of coating)!

I guess I know why they chose Twinkle Eyes, but they don't translate well here. For a figure to be translucent, it's quite difficult to do multi-colored pieces, and with the scale of the figures, they really only want to do one piece per mane and tail (I wonder what they did to Rainbow Dash?). They would have to choose which color was most important to the overall color scheme, and for the most part I think they did a good job. I would've made the tail a different color than the mane to increase color variety, but that's just me. I'm all about the accuracy.

Fizzleshake- Magenta (why?) with pale reddish-pink hair

Locket- Pink with white/light pink/peach/purple
Locket Key- Pink with purple hair

Mimic- Lime green with chartreuse/pale pink/green/red hair
Magic Mimics- Green-yellow with red hair

Bright Eyes- Blue with white/gold/orange/red hair
Bright Sun- Blue with orange hair

Sweet Pop- Blue with dark pink/yellow/purple/pale pink hair
Sweet Sugar Pop- Blue with purple hair

The Sparkle Ponies would've worked well for this, with them having solid-color manes. There's the two different hair color variants with Napper and Star Hopper, but that's just a matter of picking one and running with it. The Glow 'n' Shows would've made cool chase figures, too!

My main issue with these is that stock-image Fizzy/Fizzleshake is magenta. Will they fix it before release? Probably not. It's a shame, too; I really like Fizzy's colors and pink for her mane would translate better than most of the other colors! Also, Mimic/Magic Mimics is a bit too yellow for my taste, but perhaps she's greener in person, like Surprise's hair color. I don't know what Masquerade will look like, but I think it makes sense to be yellow with green hair. I worry for Rainbow Dash, though. They also didn't use the proper eye colors for some of them, but that's a minor detail.

That said, I'm looking forward to these guys, but I don't know if I'll aim to collect them all.

Wearing my tinfoil hat and all, but Hasbro kind of reviving the G1 TE names gives me hope we might see some G1 inspired designs in the upcoming generation, similar to how G4 borrowed so much from G3 when it came to the Blind Bag ponies.

In my opinion best looking ponies of g4.5 so far. Wish they had some that looked more like g1 twinkle eyes though...
