Help with restoration of Confetti
« on: July 25, 2020, 02:00:57 AM »
Hey everypony!  :)  I got this little confetti from my friend and she is covered in pindot/smooze! She also has a couple of strange marks. I've tried boiling water with detergent in it and scrubbing with finger nail and a toothbrush, but it won't budge anywhere from her  I also tried magic eraser which also does nothing! I've had such good luck with that with other ponies. I've also used hand soap with hot water to do a good scrubbing and will try baking soda today. We don't have Oxiclean in Finland, I wonder if any kind of detergent could work?

Any ideas what I could try to get her back into shape? Thank you so much everypony for help!

Here is a link with 4 photos of her! https://imgur.com/a/GperdPU

You could try acetone on the spots/marks.  Just make sure not to get any on her painted parts, it will strip the paint off.  Depending on the type of mark, acetone will either remove it pretty well or not at all.  Also with the magic eraser sometimes you need to scrub a spot really really hard, I would try that on her feet smooze. Use with care on painted areas if you need to, as it can also damage paint.  Any marks left after that you can try sunfading, maybe someone can say if Confetti is safe to sunfade or not???  Also some people use a hydrogen peroxide bath but I haven't tried that on ponies.  Not sure what to do about the pindots on her back :(

Check out the mlp preservation project website for more ideas!

Oh that is some really bad pindot!  I can't really recommend anything further than what you've tried, but there's a really good thread here with lots of info and different techinques:

I had to get her as hot and soapy under the faucet as I could possibly get her while still being able to handle her (I was using a basic dish soap), then scrape scrape scraped until I was loosing my mind with a butter knife, my thumb nail, and the edge of a credit card.

Going to try scrubbing harder with the hot water, maybe I wasn't going all in! I also tried acetone for the markings and stains around body and it got off most of them! Yay! Just going to fight more with the pindot!  :)

Pindot easily dies with bleach. Just don't get bleach in her hair and she'll be fine.

Glad you had some luck with the acetone!  Hope the pindot removal goes just as well :)

...but it's dirt? Pindot is dirt. It's super easy to get a pony completely covered in it if you rub mud on them, but even fresh pindot is hard to get rid of.

Regular version of Confetti is prone to sun burn, as I found out the hard way, but not sure about the Euro version... anyone be able to confirm?
