Trying to mimic the bumpy texture of the originals (in a kinda-sorta way) is why I use ridge-topped soda bottles as my source for the plastic. I got that tip from an MLP site... Not sure which one. Might have been here, might have been the Trading post, might have been somewhere else.

If I don't win, I think I'll straight-up order a pair.

I've only tried printed wings (for custom ponies) myself - CG13 asked to see them in a previous thread but I forgot so here they are

Violet Moon, Claramel's persona (2011)
Lil' Garden Fae (2012)

I used wire to attach them so they don't have tabs like the flutter wings. Both designs came from a doll customising website (Katherine Dewey) but the site seems to be gone now, I had it bookmarked. I printed them with my cheap and old HP deskjet on transparency designed for inkjet printing (or at least the second pair, I think for the first pony I had the wrong kind of transparency... not sure if I ended up printing two pairs and glueing them together? It kind of looks like that in the photos but I can't remember).

I'll have to try that...now I'm going to be on the lookout for ridged bottles!

I have tried to get the bumps and irredecent look...but man I just have not figured it out. Good luck with the heat gun...not allowed things that can burn me....hehe major disaster with my glue gun hahaha

Yeah, I've managed to burn myself with my glue gun before as well...I do use the heat gun for work, so I'm a little more coordinated/experienced with that than I am the glue gun, thankfully!

Yeah the other day I was trying to set curls and I poured boiling water on my hand by accident :o By some miracle, I didn’t actually get a bad burn.

I've had some mishaps as well, although I tend more towards accidentally cutting my fingers than accidentally touching hot stuff.
...I can no longer voluntarily bend my left index finger all the way.
